June, I'm glad you got to see the bub! I had never seen the horse game before and loved it! I commented on something else I had never seen before when we were there and we were given one as a gift - a Northern Territory Stubby. I put a picture on my page for people like me who are obviously sheltered...

Hello again, hope you're all well today. Up early this morning 'cause my arm was aching. It's wet, which is good though not really nice. Rob said we might go to a movie today - maybe Sherlock Holmes.
Did I mention that we went to see Avatar a few days ago? I was worried that the 3D might make me queezy, but it was ok - the film was beautiful to watch ...I wouldn't mind seeing it again just for the effects.

Just popping in for a few minutes! Greeting of the almost New Year here and already New Year in Oz in England! Everyone!

Hoping for a quick improvement for Judy! So glad you were able to intervene, Nola!

Heidi, I hope Gil is feeling better!

Gail, all the best to Beth in Bali for the New Year! Wishing her safe travels!

I have been enjoying the grandparent stories! My father's mother made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Somehow, I was lucky and got both a floral quilt and a velvet "Crazy Quilt" dated 1936. That same grandmother baked cinnamon rolls every Saturday afternoon for our family for a while. Grandpa would bring them to our house. Grandma's sister and Grandpa's brother lived with them. Grandma & her sister crocheted. (I don't remember that Grandmother ever being in our house, but then, we only lived 2 or 3 blocks away from both sets of grandparents. I remember my other Grandmother (Mom's mother) making home-made donuts. We used to eat the evening meal ("supper") on Sunday with my Mom's parents.

Oh, Dear! I was working on a long post, but switched to Tami's page to see her Raggedy Ann doll and the blue sweater. Guess what I did? Yep, you got it! I lost the post! I apologize to all those I was thinking of and send all the best vibes for everything!

Heidi, so glad you got your new peacock, but SOO sorry that Gil decided to share his flu with you!

Suzy, I hope your Mum's return home is safe and easy! Sending healthy and harmonizing vibes to Ally and the Pride girls! Hope all goes well for them!

MizT, how awful that the Tylenol you were using was in the recalled lot. At least you have an explanation for your symptoms!

Cyn, so sorry that what you have been experiencing is probably flu instead of just a little over-indulgence!

Vici, I would GLADLY share some snow with you - from both Illinois AND Massachusetts!

Everyone! A toast to Gath who started this site and to MizT who got us started and keeps us going at Sudokuaholics! All the best to Everyone in the New Year!

(just!) fellow SA9Aers

Already nearly lunchtime here and no menu or shopping list in sight!

Hubby, Hannah and I stayed up and watched the Sydney fireworks, a tradition, it's all we ever do!

Spent a few anxious moments last night when we heard there were threat warnings issued in Bali. We sent a msg to Beth and were much relieved when she rang us a bit later and said they had already decided to stay away from any 'big' celebrations. We got a msg at midnight from her and her girlfriend saying they were watching the fireworks on Kuta Beach. I will still feel a lot better if I hear from her again today.

I will be going over to Adelaide this week to spend the anniversary of Mum's passing with him. I know how hard everything has been for me, can't even imagine what he has been going through.

That's a wonderful thing to do, Gail. Bill will appreciate it. Plus you can see how his health is for yourself.

SUZY, yes, you did read right, they are sending me a coupon for a new bottle of the Tylenol. There is supposed to be entirely new stock in the stores in a week or 2. I will do a sniff test after getting my bottle to be sure it does not have an odor.

Heidi hope your headache gets better, I imagine there might be some hungry animals at Gil's cousin's farm.

Suzy, sounds like that game would be a riot if alcohol were involved

June, seeing the baby at home was better than in hospital, don't you think? More up close and personal.

Gail, I thought of you and your daughter when I read about that thread of terrorist attacks in Bali. So glad you heard from her and knew where she was. Do keep us informed when you hear from her again, please? Good idea to spend the anniversary together with Bill, have you planned something special? It helps, I am told and I know it helps me when I plan something to acknowledge the anniversary and bring back good memories instead of grief.

OK, I am going to eat. a;; by my lonesome. We usually eat dinner at 7 pm. At 7, hubby was on a phone call with a customer, and he still is. this is the second really long conversation, hopefully that is a good sign.

Thank you Heidi, yes, it is a constant worry being this far away, especially when he hasn't been in the best of health.

Tricia, not sure what we will do. I am hoping my brother and his family will come over to be with us, maybe we could have a barby or go out for dinner.
I know one sister will be sailing across Bass Strait on that day and she is going to sprinkle some of Mum's ashes there, so now there will be some of Mum in five states of Australia...she loved travel!

Gail I immediately thought of you when I heard the warnings about Bali last night. No matter where our children are we always worry.
Good luck with your menu planning. Most of our meals at the moment revolve around ham and turkey. With a good red meat dish about every third night!!! I won a half ham and just bought a small piece of cooked turkey breast but still a lot for two people!
And Gail, safe trip to Adelaide, Remember your Mum with love and laughter.

Gail, I hope you find a memorable way to celebrate the annivesary. Your sister who will be on Bass Strait will be doing a lot of remembering. I feel weird saying this, but could you give Bill an extra hug from me?

MizT, I hope the phone call turns into good news... that will definitely make it worthwhile eating alone!

Gail, I have to admit to a twinge when you first said Beth was going to Bali. Although the economy needs tourism and the bad guys win if nobody goes there anymore, it's still a scary thought. She says, looking at the bracelet a friend brought her back from there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR wonderful SA people.
Tried to post here last night but the computer would NOT co-operate... I could read but not post. It was so not good...standing outside looking in the window...

BUT...at least I was in the rain.
WOW...what better way is there to usher in a new year than with rain!!

2010 has well and truly dawned and already I like it better than last year...or should I at least say yesterday. To find it 20 degrees cooler than yesterday is a BIG relief! The smell of rain is still in the air and the plants still have rain glistening on their leaves. I hope my body will co-operate and let me get out into the garden today.

But as we all know... providing the first and the last letter is correct the brain will automatically reshuffle them so that they make sense...thank goodness! I am aware there are a few that don't fit into that category tho..

Had a very quite NYE...didn't even crack a bottle [too scared off the effect on the medications I am on]. Had half a glass on Christmas day and a glass with Tracey the other night but otherwise I cannot remember when I last had a drink...

June I watched Human Nature at he Opera House and really enjoyed it. Lots of good old songs for me to sing along to. I LOVE some of the old Beatles numbers. Toby Allen 'doing' Cabaret was fantastic... I say 'doing' because he did more than sing. Wish I had seen him in the stage production now... don't think he was on when we saw it.

Thanks for the thumbs up on what day it is Gail... I am SO confused!!! Totally lost the plot over Christmas.

Never did get around to doing ANY cards this year but there are two that I will send out no matter what... to my brother [now my eyes are watering again] and to another brother who lives in Qld. I missed seeing them while they were down... we were over at the in-laws for much longer than expected and I was incapable of tracking them down after that. [I wonder if I should eat their yummy Christmas present...they will never know...]

quite=quiet...DUH!!! I really do know the difference!

Tricia I have been trying to get msn operating so we could connect for a chat now that you are back around but haven't been having much luck. It has changed [or something] and I haven't worked out this version. You don't seem to be able to leave messages unless someone is online and I don't like to send emails on msn because that is not a mailbox I ever check...

This is probably enough babble from me for one day. Have a wonderful day everyone.
