I'm enjoying the weather these days. I wish it could be Fall or Spring year around. We DO need LOTS of rain, though.

Hi, All - just checking back in.

MizT, so glad you got through your list of ffuts for today! I didn't, but we made progress! Our daytime temps are not getting above high 50s to mid 60s right now, so that isn't warmer than inside the house. No point in making the house any colder!

Pleasant dreams, MizT and Heidi! Sleep well!

Heidi, I hope your Lion's Club district board meeting on Sunday and local meeting on Monday go well!

Heidi, we've been needing rain, but got a bit off and on during the day and some so far tonight. I'll try to send it your way. I agree that spring or fall are the preferable seasons here as well!

And now, I'm off to bed! Good Night, Everyone! {{{{HUGS}}}} and positive vibes aplenty for all!

Apparently the police at Newcastle Police station know nothing about Ethans wallet and licence.
I have rung the other police station in the area and they do not know either.
So now the boys are on their way back but Ethan cannot drive as he has no licence if he is pulled over.
His mate is driving, rain and thunderstorms happening up this way so they will have an interesting drive home.

Viv, that is weird. Maybe the paperwork never made it to the front desk or something. Hopefully they will call again.

I didn't realise that I hadn't told you about music camp. She had a ball! All of the kids in vocal, and the instructors, pretty much lost their voices by the end of the 4 days. Ally said she did better than most, other than the problems with range left over from the virus, because she sucked on Strepsils at bedtime. I didn't tell her I thought it was because she sings so much her voice was used to it... The performance that we got to watch was supposed to be a snapshot of the types of things they had been doing, and they emphasised that they had not been rehearsing for it the whole time, they'd picked out what they would do that afternoon. Apart from the group they were chosen for, vocal for Ally, they were asked to pick another group - something different, a new experience. Ally chose jaz improv but could have chosen musical theatre, recording, drums, dance or a couple of other things. I could not see her most of the time during the performance, but when I could she was smiling widely and having a ball.

Suzy, just read your post last page about the party. It is still bopping along nicely. The effort was from all the members of the family, and I have never known Beth to be so proud of our home and all of us for pitching in for her. She has financed it all from the money she was given and it has been a totally unstressful day. I prepped the potato salad before I left this morning, and whipped up the rest when i got back, easy peasy.
I got back on the stroke of midday, and she already had the place decorated with the help of a few of her mates who came while I was out.
I can hear a few of the cars starting up atm, being a Sunday arvo, most have to go to work in the morning. Excellent planning Beth :)

Good morning all, from my rainy neck of the woods. Wish I could send some of this rain to people who need it - looks like we'll have rain for the next four or five days at least. Yuck.

Viv, that would be so scary to get a phone call at that late hour. I always ask people not to call me past 9:00 p.m.

Off to grab a coffee and feed the cats, or maybe the other way around because they're bugging me. It's hard to type with a cat across your arms.

The Christening of my great-niece went ahead without a hitch, except for the fact that as soon as her Daddy handed her to me, she burst out crying! She calmed down as the priest anointed her.
I am very proud to be her Godmother.

OK< Rolanda, what about the legs? You cannot leave us hanging like that!! Nosey Cyber friends need to know Happy to know you are safely home, hope the trip was good for you. Sorry to hear you were amongst those who had miscarriages. there were surely so many in this small group. I was blesses, 2 pregnancies, 2 healthy deliveries. My Mom lost 2, her first and last pregnancy. My sister lost one very late, very deformed.

SUZY, sounded like Ally really had a good experience at music camp. thanks for sharing with us.

Gail, so nice to read that the party was stress free for you, and that daughter took such a big part in making it happen. Gee, sounds like she is growing up! Babies have to cry at their christening, right?

My timer is going off, muffins smell good. More later, but here is a bucket load of hugs, plenty for everyone.

Good Maen everyone! Been awake for a bit, got the coffee (yeah!!) I hope everyone is fine.
I hsven't beem reading here, sorry, spending WAY too much time on "the other site"!! OOPS!
Need to know if anyone has an older cat. Tigger is 16 and just recently developed swelling under his eye. Taking him to the vet tomorrow. Called the vet, wasn't sure if it might be an eye infection, got medicine, no change. Then the vet said it might be an abcessed tooth. The dilemma is, do we have the tooth removed or is it time to put him down?????? Any input would be helpful.
Be back later, TTFN

I guess Rolanda has been away caravanning. Hope you had a lovely holiday. Party sounds great Gail. What we would expect from anything you organised.
Viv, are you sure it was the police that called? Ethan needs to report the wallet as lost or stolen today.

Suzanne, as June said, get the vet's opinion. I would tend to get the treatment for the tooth as long as kitty is in overall good health. Most of my cats have lived to be at least 18.

Boy, I can't seem to get warm today. Hubby just left for his parents' place and I'm thinking a nap might be nice ... curl up under the comforter ... It's currently 3C. Please let summer come back just for a little while.

Suzy, we had a neighbour a couple of doors up who used to practice the bagpipes in the garage. He lived with his sister and her family. When he moved out his nephew played the drums. We always wondered why he did not improve and then found out he was teaching others to play the drums. Never a problem as both the bagpipes and drums were always played late afternoon (about 5pm)

Suzanne... Get the Vet's diagnosis before making a decision. If it's an abscessed tooth, pulling it is an easy fix, and can give the cat years of happy life still.

IDIOTS complete and total idiots!!

You have heard me talk about us being in a drought, needing rain, everything dry. There is a state wide burn ban, NOTHING can be burned outside. Wind is a steady 6 MPH with gusts higher.

Stupid neighbor has an one acre lot, 3/4 of it in waist high weeds, very dry weeds. What do they do? Pile high some construction waste in the middle of the weeds and set it afire. When I smelt smoke, and stepped to my back deck, I saw flames probably 15-20 feet high and smoke billowing. Of course the wind is blowing toward us. I could not tell is anyone was even in attendance with that fire. I can not really see into that property from mine, so I took a walk down the road. Man and woman were standing there watching at that time. If it got out into the weeds, they had nothing to put it out. Idiots. Of course, Al's shop is very close to that property line. We do keep our property mowed, but would not have much time to act should the fire come over to our property. Did I say I think those people are idiots?? AAAAAAAAGHHHHH.

MizT: We are always worried about the dry grass in the field across the street. We are usually in a No Burn Alert situation EVERY summer. From late June thru August/September.

Gooday everyone.
So glad Beth had a great party Gail.
Suzanne, hoping the cat can have the tooth out and live a few mores years in comfort.
MizT...yes, there are some idiots out there. There are big fines here for lighting fires.Still it doesn't deter some people.
We had a nice storm last night which gave the garden a good drink.I was lucky enough not to hear a thing but Greg said he let the dog out and she came back 1/2 hour later,drenched.hehe.Not happy,as he flattened the torch battery looking for her in the rain.

Judy (sister) is having a fabulous time on the cruise.Says the food is so good.Bet she comes back a few kg heavier but she lost 30kg having chemo so it is ok.

Heidi, no, I did not call fire dept, once I saw the neighbors were there in attendance. the fire is all out now, whew, glad of that! Hubby is trying to finish his nap now, too. He thinks I was a bit premature waking him, just cause the yard next door was on fire hehehe. Did I ever say fire is one of the 2 things I really fear? Snakes is the other.

I am sure there would have been fines if anyone noticed the fire. Once, we had rangers stationed on fire towers, watching with binoculars for columns of smoke. I guess as a cost cutting measure they are no longer there. This smoke could have been noticed, for sure, if there were anyone watching.

Hi all. Just stopping in for a minute. Still not feeling well so I went to the clinic near my house. Nothing wrong, just a virus. I could not sleep last night. I had a lot of pressure in my ears and thought I was getting an ear infection. No to infection, no to strep throat. Just take it easy, rest, and plenty of fluids. I have a pot of chicken soup on the stove and will have some tonight. I made a big pot so that I could put some in the freezer.

Good Morning All!
Made it home safely and so glad I do not have to work today.
Had a great time at the 50th Anniversary of my school, caught up with an old girlfriend and it was like we had never been apart, the two of us got up to lots of mischief when we were younger, nothing has changed! Lots more people remembered me than I them, did not realise that because I was sports mad that people from other years knew me as well. There were approx 5,000 in attendance and they ran out of name tags for everyone. It was a gold coin donation entry and guess what? I won third prize in the raffle! Three paintings that when hung side by side will form a scene. No way I could get them on the plane with me, did not have anything to even secure them together so bro is going to post them up with some old school books my ex returned to me. The old school builings are being demolished so was fortunate I got to see them before it happened, so many fond and funny memories.

Sending Hugs to all of you whether you need them or not.
Went to BIL's birthday bash after I arrive yesterday, did not stay for the barefoot bowls as was starting to drag my heels after a very late one the night before.
Gail, great to hear Beth's party was a success, and the weather held off.... not that I expected anything less from you. Bet you had a word to him while you were at the Christening hehe! Love and hugs to all the family (including the feathered and four legged ones) for putting up with me. Very fond memories of my time at Chez Cockatoo.

MizT, it had to happen eventually...Beth growing up I mean!

Suzanne, what is your cat's condition like at the moment? Does he still have some life in him? Before you go having any treatment done, make sure the vet is positive that is the cause, wouldn't want the cat to go through anything unnecessarily. When it becomes their teeth, it can be a sign that they are not able to look after themselves properly.
Best wishes.

Broni, so wonderful to hear you had a great time at the anniversary. 5000! Boy, did we get there just in time then, can't imagine what the streets would have been like around there with that many cars! What a great turn-out.
No surprises about the barefoot bowls, it had been a big week!
You're right, I did give the Big Fella a nod and a wink while I was in the church, and he held up his end of the bargain...spose I'll now have to hold up mine...I'll be a nun in a week!!!

Listening to some old tunes and it has picked up my spirits immeasurably!!!

Broni and Gail, did you know each other before Sudoku? Glad you both had a great time.

Broni, when hubby and I took our MIL for a drive to see the autumn leaves, we drove through my old home town. Our old high school closed the year after I graduated and there has been nothing in it since. The windows are boarded up and the whole building looks very neglected ... very sad. The old home where I grew up looked pretty much the same, except my mom's beautiful flower beds are all gone. Memories ......

Time to get some stuff done. Will be back from time to time between or during chores.
