Theresa, I think Gail and I are old souls that have known each other before, but to answer your question have only known all my friends on Sudoku for about 3 years and I have made some lasting friendships even with some I have never met yet.

Break time already.

I don't think I mentioned that the other outside cat "Sweetie" (orange tabby) has ended up at our place. My daughter took him in, but he was having little accidents. I brought him here, diligently took him to the litter box, and there was only one little accident on the first day and none since. He remembered me from outside and has upset the night time routine by insisting on sleeping with me (or usually on me). He was already neutered, had no microchip in, and the vet had no reports of a missing kitty with his description. His name is appropriate. Splotch is still spending a lot of time hiding, but I'll worm my way into his heart too!!!

Broni, I agree about people on this site. I find sometimes I can say things here that I wouldn't normally say, simply because I know you will all understand. I tend to be a bit of a private person and don't really open up to many people. On this site I can let my feelings open up. Someone once mentioned I should get my daughter to sign up, but a lot of my venting is about being tired with my extra chores. I know her feelings would be hurt by this, so I won't mention this site to her. I love her dearly and what she is going through right now is not her fault ... sometimes I just need to express my feelings.

BTW, SIL's shift work doesn't start until next week for the three late nights. So this coming week is as per normal ... a reprieve for another week. My SIL is actively looking for another job. He is a graphic designer, and unfortunately those types of jobs don't pay much. So I think maybe he's looking into other lines, even labour type jobs. Something with steady hours and no rotating shifts.

Boy I'm a chatty Kathy today!

For the last 2 1/2 months I have been keeping a secret. I was just not ready to talk about it. Guess now is the time, cause it might be harder for me to avoid it now.

Al has throat cancer. He starts chemo on Monday morning ( tomorrow). This being a public forum, I do not want to go into a lot of details here, but will answer any who PM me.

Guess that explains to you all the phone calls and paperwork I have been doing and all the long days out, as he had doctors appointments, tests and other hospitalizations. We will be out for other long days this coming week. I will check in when I can.

Basket full of hugs being sent. Catch you later.

I'm back from the meeting. It was a good one, with a tasty meal afterwards. It seems that I'm the only one there who's good with a grill, so I cooked the burgers and polish sausages. Mainly, we discussed fundraising ideas and the upcoming Christmas party. I'm on the food and decorations committee.

I see you understand my predicament, Tami. But you said it much more succinctly than I did.

Funny story, in the last year I have been approached by two men, both asking if I was married. Both were 10-15 years older than me. The funny part is the second one. Hubby took me for a drive and we went to our favourite chip stand. While hubby was waiting in line I was sitting at a picnic table. This second man sat at the table with me, and he was totally drunk. He had spent the day at the casino with friends, had lost all his money and had a dozen beer. Then he got up and tinkled in nearby bushes, but he missed and got it all down his legs. His friends who were with him were upset and didn't want him getting back into their nice new SUV. I think I laughed for the next hour. Boy, the good ones pick me, huh? It's nice to know I have options, but I think I'll keep the one I've got for now.

Tomorrow is our municipal election day. Turns out we're not on the voter's list for some reason, so we will have to go early and register. I have been pleased with our mayor so far ... he is dragging our area into this century, kicking and screaming. We're even getting a Walmart soon (building is in the process of being built). Thank goodness the days of only "good old boys" being on council are gone.

Hi, fellow Sudokuaholics!

Hi, V Viv, Rolanda, Suzy, Gail, Theresa, MizTricia, Suzanne, June, Heidi, Nola, Tami, Broni, Brenda, Judy, Mamacita, eaa, Victoria, and anyone I've missed!

V Viv, I hope the storms didn't affect you! Hopefully the young men had no trouble driving home through the severe weather! I'm a bit skeptical now about the phone call you received about Ethan's wallet. If the police station knows nothing about it, who called you? I agree with June that Ethan needs to report his wallet lost or stolen. I hope he didn't have much money or a credit card in it. If he had a credit card, he should notify the bank and cancel it.

Welcome home, Rolanda! I hope you had a wonderful time! Are you going to tell us about your leg/s? I noticed that MizT asked you also!

Suzy, thanks for letting us know about music camp! I'm so glad Ally had a great time! Sounds like you better start saving for next year.

Gail, Beth's party sounds like a total success! You mentioned that she did the planning/organizing/funding.decorating and was proud of her home and family and appreciated the help provided by them, so, yes, it's safe to say that she has grown up! Apparently the weather cooperated!

Gail, what a thrill to be a Godmother again! Not to worry about the baby crying, as it is expected! All in all, it sounds like a very good day!

Mmm, MizTricia, what kind of muffins? I must admit that, like you, I was blessed with 2 pregnancies and 2 wonderful children!

Suzanne, I will echo several other about Tigger and his tooth. Each of our cats have needed to have a tooth extracted due to infection, but they were younger than 16 when it happened. The thing to be concerned about is that cats need to be anesthetized for dental work, so it's costly, and they should be in good health. The best thing to do is rely on the vet's advice, if you trust him/her. Wishing all the best for Tigger - and for you!

June, I can't imagine having a neighbor practice bagpipes! They take some getting used to and are quite loud! Yes, I know that drums are also loud, but the sound doesn't seem as piercing. I hope you were able to get back to sleep!

Heidi, I hope the Lion's Club board meeting was productive!

MizT, I'm so sorry your neighbors are idiots! They are so fortunate that the fire didn't get away from them! They were lucky this time! It was good that you checked on it to be sure it remained under control.

Nola, I'm glad that your garden had a good drink! Also glad to hear that your sister Judy is enjoying her cruise! I hope she is doing well! BTW, I hope the bird net keeps them away from your lychee tree

Tami, I'm so glad you went to the clinic and found that you don't have an infection. It's a good thing you made a big pot of chicken soup; I hope it helps you to feel better soon! Get plenty of rest!

Broni, your school reunion sounds wonderful! I'm so glad you were able to go and catch up with friends- and congratulations for winning the third p

Broni, your school reunion sounds wonderful! I'm so glad you were able to go and catch up with friends - and congratulations for winning the third prize in the raffle! Having 5000 in attendance is huge! Was it a large school - or a multi-year reunion? It's so great that you got back in time for your BIL's birthday party! Happy Birthday, Broni's BIL!

Theresa, what a great idea - listening to old tunes - to boost your spirits! I hope they put a positive spin on the rest of the day for you! Good for you for helping Sweetie adjust to using a litter box! I'm glad he fits his name! I'm assuming he and Splotch became acquainted when they were both outside, so hope there are no territorial problems inside! (BTW, one of our cats used to sleep on my thighs. I have to admit that I don't miss that, though she still spends most of the night in bed with us.)

MizT, I have just read your post about Al! Thank you for sharing with us. Of course, that explains all the time away from home! I'll be thinking of him - especially tomorrow morning as he starts chemo! Sending TONS of positive vibes, prayers, {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} and to both of you! I have sent you a PM. Hang in there, Sweetie!

Wow, we have an "acting managing director" in our midst! Hi, Vicki!

MizT & Al--Sending loving thoughts & prayers your way. This site is a GREAT support system! We also have BIG shoulders if you need to lean on us!!
Will go to the vet's office with Darrell & Tigger tomorrow so we can figure out what is wrong. He's not able to eat the crunchy food, so he's gotten tuna since yesterday. I think he thinks he's being spoiled, and he IS!!! Further details to follow. Everything else with him seems normal. we'll see. Getting late, signing off for now.
TTT: feel better!

Afternoon all!
I've been off making coffee again today. I think it's weird that I enjoy that.

MizT, I am so sorry about your secret. I had noticed that you were out and about a lot more than I was used to seeing, but never for a moment did I suspect a secret like the one you have been carrying around! Huge hugs from here, as well as SA vibes and love. I would love to hear how you both are going, or to hear a vent if you need to make one. I will not be offended if I don't hear from you though as you hardly seem to have a minute to yourself lately.

I agree your neighbours are idiots! Several years ago we had multiple fires burning in our area, including one that went right over a town. On the day that happened one of our neighbours was using some kind of torch in his paddock, which had grass and weeds as high as the ones you describe. We cursed him that day!

Broni, your school reunion sounds fantastic! I'm so glad you made it there.

Gail, it sounds like your children have inherited your hostess skills. Pat yourself on the back (as well as them of course, especially Beth).

Nola, bird nets - good idea! The cockatoos ate my apples last year.

June, I hope the bagpipe players were good! I love them when played well, but learning them? I don't know about that one.

Tami, feel better soon. A sick day might be in order?

Julie, I hope you are well and things are settling down in your neck of the woods.

Theresa, I love your drunk pick up story! My favourite pick up story was from a club in Redondo Beach. Hubby and I had gone to see The Guess Who (or was it the Who? Which one would play clubs?). He went to the bar to buy us a drink (soda for me) and a bloke tried to pick me up while he was gone. I was 5 months pregnant...

Hi everyone.
Lots of hugs coming your way MizT for you and Al.
Re Ethan's licence etc.
Apparently what happened was some police picked up Ethan's wallet from the ground outside the concert. They must have called it in by radio but did not check it in to the station when they finished their shift.
They rang him late yesterday arvo to say they were mailing it to him and that if he gets pulled over by police before it gets here to quote a number they gave him.
Thank heavens he was at least smart enough to only have his licence and a $10 in the wallet.
He said he emptied it out of everything else before they went to the concert.
Thank you for your concern.
