Suzy, every baby step is a milestone. I remember MizT taking baby steps when she had the hand problems. They seem so small sometimes, but they are significant. I'm proud of you, girlfriend! {{HUGS}}

Good luck with that wish, Heidi!
The girls are home from school and I'm trying to warm up. Both of them are kind of whiny. Even the threat of Santa putting them on the naughty list doesn't help.

Today was not nearly as long, thankfully, at the doc's office. In at 8:30, out before 10, home by 11 even after my stop for milk and bread. It takes a lot more milk, making 'hot chocolate' from the meal replacement drink. Al has slept the afternoon, I have tried. Every time I got to sleep, something would wake me. I gave up.
Theresa, sorry the girls were whinny ( I typoed them Shinny first hehehe) . You would think with weekend to look forward to they would be all smiles.
Considerate, generous and brave? All in one package? What fairy tales you been reading, Heidi?
HI eaa, nice TOPP you made here. Good to see you about again, been missing you.

Hubby will be late tonight again. I told him to grab himself a shawarma on the way home - at least that way I don't have to guess when to have supper ready. Last night I told him supper would be ready at 6:30 and he didn't get home until 7:30 to one very well done (burned??) supper. He's easy to please though, he just eats what's put in front of him.
His holidays start on Tuesday next week. He is going to work on Monday because he is getting a gift at a luncheon for his 35 years of service. Not just him, others too.

Good morning everyone!
Theresa, I was intrigued by the "shawarma" which I'd never heard of, so I had to look it up - oh, here it's a kebab!
Thanks everyone for the comforting comments - it really helps! Sometimes I get a wee bit depressed, but nothing that large amounts of chocolate won't fix (till I look in the mirror ...AAarrgghh!)

Good morning all!
I'm sorry, Suzy, that I didn't acknowledge your milestone with the yarn. I kept meaning to then we started talking Mothers (another thread started by you). I love the term 'baby steps', which of course are real milestones for you, but I can't help thinking about Bill Murray in 'What about Bob'!!
Big hugs and good vibes coming your way for your continued recovery, Suzy!

Had a nice nap, and now I'm eating a porkburger. I haven't seen or heard from IH all day. He dropped his cell phone outside 2 weeks ago, in the mud, then ran over it with his truck. He didn't find it for nearly a week, and hasn't replaced it yet. The company he has his contract with keeps trying (unsuccessfully) to repair it. So he can't call me and is too inconsiderate to let me know where he's going or when he'll be back. I'm just going on the assumption that he'll have to fend for himself whenever he shows up. Maybe aliens kidnapped him? **All I'm asking for is a little bit improved version!!**

HI all. Just stopping in for a minute before bed. We have a party to go to tomorrow so I need to get up. I tried to straighten my hair but all I have is a frizzy mess. If I can't fix it in the morning, I will just wash it and let it go curly. I don't want to go looking like Roseanne Rosanadanna, from Saturday Night Live.

You're bringing back Saturday Night Live memories, Tami. I much preferred watching it when I was younger. Maybe I'm just getting too old.
Oldest grandie can't sleep, so she's playing in her room and I'll go back in half an hour to try and get her to sleep. Good thing I had that nap earlier today.

Theresa, you are not getting older. The original SNL were the best. What a fun group of people they had. I watched every Saturday night when I was babysitting. I hated when parents came home before the end of the show. I have the first 2 years on DVD and want to get at least the next three years.

I am the proud owneer of a new front loading washing machine. Well, me and the finance company... It was a bargain, Marked at $1099, reduced to $697... with 5kg of free powder, probably $50 worth there, and $50 cash back later.
Only 6.5kg, which means I'll have to do more loads, but better suited for the not so distant future when there is just the 2 of us..

Good Evening, Everyone! I hope you're all well and nearly ready for C.
All I have done for C is gifts for the grandies. I had hoped to get some things done this weekend and early next week. Our wood-turning club's C party (about 150-200 people, including about 40 high school choir members who will entertain) is Tues. and I got an email tonight about everything that must be done in preparation. One person is purchasing beef and rolls for the main course. Everyone is supposed to bring a dish to pass. I typed up a list of things to buy/provide/bring/do before the party. It's 2 pages long single spaced! I guess I inherited the job because I agreed to be the membership chairman. Well, it's better to find this out Friday night than on Monday night! Part of the problem is that we lost our meeting venue in April. All of the club's possessions have been moved at least three times since then and are in 2 different locations, and nobody's quite sure what stuff is where. On top of that, the party is being held at yet another location, and we can only get in 30 minutes before it's scheduled to start. I thought I'd be collecting dues for next year in that time. I'm trying not to stress.
I am now calmly reading page 462. Hi, Theresa, June, eaa, Heidi, Suzy, Kate, CynB, Rolanda, MizTricia, Judy, Gail and Broni!
Oh, my, look at all of the new colorful avatars! They're beautiful and helping to contribute to my new sense of calm!
Theresa, you deserve some time for yourself to relax! Enjoy the time. I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish a lot when you are rested!
June, you have been a busy little elf and have accomplished a lot! You must feel very proud of yourself! Keeping fingers and toes crossed for your friend when she has the scan in February. In the meantime, more positive thoughts and prayers being sent her way!
eaa, thank you for the wonderful holiday wish! All the joy of the season to you and yours! It's good to see you here!
Suzy, it was an amazing compliment Ally and her friends received! It's nice for them to receive the recognition, but it's also nice for them to be 14-year-olds who sing for the joy of it - and not the pressure! (I've been watching our acupuncturist, who is trying to establish a second career in music. It's a LOT of work and frustration, and she's nearly 3 times as old.
Cyn, all the best to the ex-DIL and her new man, I guess, but I can't fathom why she wants more children. Does he know how she deals with those she already has?
Rolanda, I hope both you and the patient are doing well! I hope her post-surgery checkup goes well and convinces her that all is progressing as it should be! I watched the video with your son! Wonderful accomplishment! Congrats to him and to the proud parents!
MizT, I think Al really NEEDS that sleep. I hope his body is doing what it needs to do! sending positive thoughts and prayers for him and you! Being the caregiver is a tough, full-time job! I hope you find some time for yoursel

Here's part 2:
MizT, I think Al really NEEDS that sleep. I hope his body is doing what it needs to do! sending positive thoughts and prayers for him and you! Being the caregiver is a tough, full-time job! I hope you find some time for yourself while he's snoozing!
Suzy, so sorry your Mum seems to only be focused on Ebob. I hope that isn't too apparent while she is with you for the holidays! Ally needs some attention as well!
Good advice from Cyn about Mum's! So glad YOUR Mum was in good form today! It makes it easier and happier for you and her!
Judy, good for you for getting to work on your C cards! Good for Rob for getting take-out to make your day go a bit smoother! I hope you both enjoyed it! It's SO difficult dealing with parents when they become cranky and unhappy and impossible to please. Just remember that it's not "them" talking, but their disease, and they're not talking to you, but to their life, which is so unfair. (I know it's far easier for me to say now than when it was happening in our family.) Hang in there! {{{{HUGS}}}}
Cyn, how brave of your sister to deal with her emotions and write it al down! Hopefully it will get published and help other families!
Judy and Cyn, we are all here for each other! Never hesitate to let us know what's on your mind. It can be helpful to vent!
Suzy, you have made amazing progress. Keep at it and things will come back and feel more natural and automatic again! We're proud of the progress you have made and continue to make!
eaa, it's always a pleasure to read your posts! You're so right about having Christmas in our hearts!
MizT, I'm so glad today's appointment was quicker and you were able to get home quickly! I'm glad Al was able to sleep during the afternoon. I wish you had been able to as well!
Theresa, like Judy, I had go ask Mr. Google to tell me what a shawarma is! I think It sounds similar to a gyro. Your description of a kebab matches what I think of! Isn't it wonderful we can learn from each other.
Gail, is a souvlaki like a gyro/yiro?
Chloe! I hope she had a wonderful day, a yummy cake
and enjoyed her presents!
Tami and Theresa, we were also fans of the early Saturday Night Live shows! Gilda Radner was so good (Rosanne Rosannadanna, among other characters).
Suzy, wonderful news that you have a new gnihsaw enihcam! Isn't it amazing what we can get excited about! Many happy days of wet sloshy to you!
It's now past midnight here, and I really am fading fast! Sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}},
, positive thoughts and prayers to everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day/night!

Hello everyone.
I'm just popping in to say hello. Hubby has gone to work and #1 and his girl are in their room watching movies, so I'm on my own.
I had a lovely lunch with my friends today. We went to a turkish restaurant and chatted and caught up. I love getting together with them as there are no pretences, we know each other too well.
The markets were on and when we all met we wandered around. I found some really nice earrings for the girl marked down from $60 to $15. There were also some lovely pendants marked down to $10. What a bargain. I'll give one to my sister and keep the other for myself.

Suzy, when my SIL was visiting from Canberra, she had words with her mother who insists on prefacing every statement about the other daughter with "Poor J". Well Poor J made her choices (very badly I must say as she is now divorced from husband #2) and if she chooses poorly with #3 that's her concern.
We keep saying that Poor J is now 57 and a grandmother and more than capable of dealing with the results of her choices.

Cyn, I don't quite know what to say about the ex-DIL but maybe the fiance might change his mind before it's too late.
Sending special hugs to Judy and Rolanda. I understand your pain.
Keep warm you Northeners
Keep cool you Aussies.

Belated "happy birthday" to Cloe. I am sure she has had a great day.
How lucky that none of my or hubbies parents/grandparents suffered from dementia. My heart goes out to my friends here that have that problem.
Busy day. I was asked to organise the entertainment for out Ladies Bowling Christmas party next Tuesday. We picked doing the Village People!!! I have spent the last couple of weeks organising out fits, watching youtube so I could choreograph something simple that six women under and over 70 could perform without doing damage to our bad backs and other joints! We did lots of practice today. Should be a hoot!
I also have to make several 'plum puds' for our lunch. One is boiling away now.
Susie, I do think of you a lot and all the problems you have. I know it is hard to look ahead at the moment but soon this difficult time will all be behind you.

Julie, I hope your C party is a huge success. We have a committee to organise the food and then claim the costs. I bought the ham (someone else is carving) and doing some of the puddings. It means we do have a planned menu.
