The firies have just gone past. Every Christmas Eve they go around all the streets of the town handing out icy poles to all the kids, whooping the sirens and calling out Merry Christmas on the loud hailer.
Now it feels like Christmas xoxo

Wishing you all joy and happiness xoxo

What are icy poles? I'm thinking they are like what we call freezies - flavoured ice in a long plastic tube.

Gail - put an "Out of Order" sign on the bathrooms.

Woke up at 2:30 AM with a very queasy stomach and a nagging headache. So maybe I've got a touch of flu - oh, no!!! I don't have time to be sick, I have to make cookies today with the grandies and I am making Christmas Eve supper for us all. I have a feeling I'll be having a nap a little later.

What's an FPR?

So many questions, so little time ...........

I was going to send you all Emails to wish you Merry Christmas but woke up this morning with a 'funny tummy'. We did a bit of last minute shopping. Bought some fresh bread rolls but I could only eat one mouthful and I lost that. I have dozed or slept most of the afternoon and feel pretty much OK now.

Hi everyone! 1 hour to go till Christmas starts - thinking it's time for bed! Everything seems to be done - Laura came over to help, and she'll spend the night. Did a lot of baking and cooking, and finished off with homemade vanilla icecream - yum!
Wishing each and every one of you a wonderful Christmas! :)

Christmas Eve has dawned, barely. It is time for the sun to be up, but so cloudy it is still grey out. We have rain forecast, with a possibility of snow. Again, it is the same weather pattern here, if the rain coming from the West is still here when the cold from the North arrives we will have snow. the cold is forecast for tomorrow. Birmingham area has never had a white Christmas in recorded weather history. Perhaps a few times with flurries, but no " white Christmas" with snow on the ground. I do hope the record is not broken.

Joy and Tanya both arrived home with sore throats and colds. they shared, I have the sore throat now. I am trying to stay away from AL, he spent the day in the dome or running last minute errands yesterday. He made more cookies last night, and made these the correct size at my request. they are for " thank you" gifts for a few people who have helped us out lately. Again they are perfectly done, not a hint of brown, just golden deliciousness. When I commented on it again, bragging on him, he said, well last year I burned the cookies, decided it was not gonna happen this time. When my man sets his mind to something . . . . .

Hugs to all with extras. I am headed back to bed.

Merry Christmas from wet and sodden Queensland - the predicted wet weather has hit with a vengeance. Our guests have left and had to take detours to get home. I can't imagine what a quagmire it'll be by tomorrow night. 300mls, in 24 hours, expected - so far about 75ml (3").
Enjoy your Christmas - I'll be back afterwards!! Hugs!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

Just before 3am and we are done! Everything wrapped and put under the tree, and Santa is exhausted!

Forgot to mention we will be having an extra with us tomorrow. Beth rang me yesterday to say her girlfriend had messaged her saying her father had bailed out (single father, long story!), and she was going to be home alone on Christmas Day. It took all of two nano seconds for me to say she could share our Christmas, and when I told hubby, his reaction was "Like h*ll, nobody should be alone on Christmas!" We have all pitched in to make it one she will never forget ♥

GAIL, what a wonderful thing you have done, bringing the young lady into your Christmas. You are right, no one should be home alone! I am sure this will be a Christmas she will remember fondly.

Almost happened to me once, being home alone for Christmas. Was just after my divorce, I was scheduled to work Christmas day, so daughter and I had our Christmas, including SANTA on Christmas eve. She still wanted to believe in Santa, so we told her he was making a special trip early for her, and she believed it hehehe. She went to her fathers for Christmas day, more SANTA there.

Shortly after arriving at work, they decided they were overstaffed, and told me to go home. I tried to give the off day to someone else, but no one could afford to be off without pay and i was stuck. I had just started dating AL, so when I phoned him telling him I was home alone, he rescued me, took me to his parents for Christmas Dinner. Twas not a nice feeling thinking I had a Christmas alone.

I sat up reading late into the night, so had a good sleep-in this morning and arvo. The snow isn't due for several more hours. Tonight and tomorrow we're due to get 4 inches of snow. We'll have a WHITE CHRISTMAS! I need to feed hay to the cows, defrost some steaks, clean up the mess the dogs made, clean up the mess I made, and set the table for a Christmas Eve supper here with cousins Don and Barb.

I think I have everything ready. Just need to bake pumpkin pie today. Amber, Kyle and I spent the afternoon with my mom yesterday. Had a great time looking at her old photo albums(Kyle's request, such a good grandson). I got an email from my sister in NZ. Her dad is not well and she is coming to Canada to see him. She is bringing her grandson, Seb, who will be coming here to stay with us at the lake. Ever since Amber and I were there, he has wanted to come to Christina Lake. He also wants to see snow. Good thing we have some this year. I just hope it isn't too cold for him.
I hope everyone not feeling well is better soon.

Gail, how nice your daughter's friend won't be alone on Christmas.

I have slept away the day and still don't feel well. Cookie making has been postponed until after supper ... keep your fingers crossed. Ribs and chicken have been marinating most of the day. Still want to make pie for dessert. Well, I don't want to, but I should.

Hope to be back later.

Merry Christmas!
Hubby is putting the turkey on, Mum is off trying to find somewhere open to buy cigarettes but I think she secretly thinks I don't have enough lollies, the kids are still asleep - never have woken early for Santa, even when they still believed in him.

We have gone from our traditional 6 for Xmas us+mum and a friend of hers who would spend it alone otherwise to 8 or 9. Mum and Don say the people who took Ebob in are lovely and Don suggested we invite them for Xmas dinner. Of course we didn't find out for sure until late yesterday. I found a chicken in the freezer to supplement the turkey and a frozen apple pie to have as well as pavlova so hopefully there will be enough food. Lots of baked veges should do it.

Hubby said the woman who took Ebob in and apparently every homeless person in her area has had a very hard life and is a wonderful person, Mum mentioned that she is covered in tatts. I'm glad I found that out before she got here so I didn't show surprise!

I THINK I have everything under control. The desert is setting up (a 4 layered strawberry gelatin parfait), the steaks are defrosted, the table is set and I'm getting ready to start the scalloped potatoes and veggies. We're having Christmas Eve here and Christmas dinner at Don and Barb's. I sent Gil and Don off to deliver pressies to neighbors that we exchange with. Is there anything that I've forgotten?

Hmmmmm... The radar says it's snowing here in Magnolia, but I don't see anything coming down. I was just outside, in my teeshirt, hanging big, red, tin stars on the front gate. I'm a bit behind on decorating.

MERRY CHRISTMAS DAY to all the DUGs. Hope it is a wonderful day for you and everything goes as you want.

I just found out my sister has this bug also, and a couple of her grandchildren have some, not all, of the symptoms. Seems someone was contagious at the party. So far the first to get sick was Joy, she was sick by Monday morning after her drive home overnight, Tanya by Monday night after her flight in that day, Me by Tuesday, Sis by Wednesday. Have not heard from the Atlanta sis and my niece.

My throat is some better, I can swallow again. I have washed my hands raw, and worn a mask to keep myself from touching my nose, mouth to spread the germs. Want to keep AL germ free for chemo and radiation on Monday.

Hugs to all and hope to check in tomorrow, it will be a quite day , just the 2 of us.

Supper done and dusted - but I didn't eat much. Dessert was appreciated by all, but I didn't have any. Came home because I wasn't feeling well. Daughter is also lying down because she has been on her feet too much today. Cookies did not get made, so hubby went to convenience store to buy chocolate chip cookies for Santa. Oh well, I'm sure Santa will enjoy store bought cookies for this year.

The grandies are being very loud and the oldest is being very whiney (whiny???). She had several time-outs while I was there. Not even the threat of Santa listening helped, just made it worse. Kids are just so excited for the last few days and it seems like Christmas will never get there, they can't help but act out a bit. They are currently tracking Santa's whereabouts on the computer (NORAD).

MizT, my youngest grandie was sick this past week and missed 2 days from school. So I know where I got my bug from. Even when they're sick, they still want cuddles - how can a grandma not cuddle them? I hope and have my fingers crossed that the bug will bypass Al. Thinking of you!!!!
