June, din din sounds yummy. I just realized I am hungry. Red meat sounds good tonight!
BEAN, so glad that doc has found some meds that work for you. I knew you were not well, but had no idea it was that bad. Hugs to you friend and hope your better days continue. I for one enjoyed your long post.

Hi Viv lovely to see you.
Bean, hope the meds help to give you your life back. I know what arthritis pain is like and the fact that you cannot do things you used to do years ago, or if you do them it takes three times as long.
You did so well to put up with the pain and give Vici a wonderful holiday, all without moaning on here. We would have all understood.

Suzy will you try to finish the knitting you started? I too have stopped knitting projects after disagreements with someone, they have to appreciate that a hand knitted garment.
Cyn hope the work to put your solar panels on the roof goes smoothly, my niece from Perth had some fitted a while back and they really do save money.

Bean - so pleased to hear you have your meds under control and therefore your life.
Viv - Hello - nice to see you posting - I might be in Port in a few months but just for a weekend. Our friends have moved from Sydney to Laurieton (sp) and we want to come down to see them. If I'm coming down, I'll let you know, maybe you'll have time for a coffee in Cafe 66? How is John?

June - you will feel sad getting rid of the ute if it was your Dad's, not counting the many years of good service it's given you. I think I've told the story of my Dad's car and how we had to get it from him before he hurt himself, Mum or others. We had it for several years before it caught fire in a service station, with 2 grandies in it and towing the boat. We immediately called the wreckers and bought the ute. But when they came to take it away, I was sobbing, I felt we'd let Dad down. By then it was nearly 20 years old.

Thanks Brenda. I know you would have all understood. I don't really like to complain on here...or to anyone...not even Vici when she was here. I come here to escape my reality but sometime it spills over and the frustration and pain is all too much.
I have been a 'big' girl for a while and that has put too much stress on everything for a long time but up until about 6-8 months ago it had done nothing other than slow me down. Mind over matter, grit my teeth and I could do most things I wanted to. I was living proof of "if you don't use it you lose it"...I am sure that was the only that had kept me active for years. The forced immobility when I injured my ankle changed all that. I hadn't tested my mobility before Vici got here and when I did it was a disaster. Vici strapped my ankle every day which enabled that to work but the hips couldn't be fixed so easily. I was totally unprepared for the how restrictive that would be.
And now it is over and out from me. Want an early night and hopefully will manage a couple of hours in the garden before it gets too hot. The heat totally does me in...
Nite nite...

My dear Bean.... You MUST be feeling better to be able to talk about the pain publicly. I know from experience that until you're over the worst, you generally suffer in silence, not wanting to burden friends with your problem. You know that your real friends don't consider it that way, but the pain does keep you from thinking straight.

I got up this early because Rain asked me to let her out for a bit. She hasn't learned to use the dog door yet. She came back in covered in snow. I'm going back to bed now.
Byeeeeeee.

Greetings sudoluland! It is warm and cozy in my house this morning and all faucets are running! Remember this and pray it stays same tonight through weekend.
Heidi, did you get much snow? Looks like only a narrow band of snow went through your area, should not have lasted long. Hopefully that is all you will get today.
No snow here yet, perhaps by mid morning. Forecasters still say one to 2 inches.
Coffee is on, I will have a cup and watch the sunrise, see you all later.

Heidi, I was up for that visit to the small room. Checked in computer for weather report. while I was here, I did a check on my friends here in Sudokuland. How do you teach a dog to use the doggie door? In your case,do they just see other dogs using it and follow? Hope she learns soon so you get a full night's sleep. But very good that she came to ask to go out! and went out in the snow. My little wimpy furbabies will not go out in the snow.

Or to go to the other side of the doggie-door, hold it open and entice the dog through it?
Heidi will enlighten us.

I stand next to the dog door, push it open and tell the dog to go through. Tho' most of them learn on their own by watching the other dogs.

The snow is falling heavier than before. We'd only gotten about 1/2 inch earlier, but at the rate it's coming down, we should get several more. This doesn't bother me because there's no ice under the snow.

Before I leave, tho', I'm gonna tell a funny dog door story....
My dogs all learn from puppyhood how to use the dog door. They get really comfortable with it and rarely pause to go through, they usually take it on the run. The dog door is in the kitchen door, a straight shot down the hallway and through the kitchen. I sold one of my adults (I wasn't really attached to her) to a pet home in Pennsylvania (near Mamacitas place, actually). I forgot to mention my dog door. Well, one day at her new home, Gracie heard a sound outside which piqued her interest. With her new owners watching in amazement, she ran like a bullet through their house and ran head first into their kitchen door.... knocking herself silly. They were both baffled, and laughing themselves silly, so they called me to tell me about Gracie's bizarre behavior. I then told them about the dog door in my kitchen door.

Good Maen SA9Aers! Heidi: Cute dog story! I could just picture that!! I've got a similar cat story. We have had Tigger (15) and Amber (12) since they were kittens. When we lived in the house in California, we had hardwood floors. Tigger is declawed, Amber isn't. They were chasing each other and Amber made a turn, Tigger missed and slid head first into the living room wall. Darrell was at work and missed what happened. He called & I was still laughing 15 minutes later. Tigger was not the worse for wear, but it was hilarious!!

It's cold here this morning, in the 20's, highs to get to low 30's.
Heidi: I hope Lucky is ok, I had seizures as a child and remember what they were like, must be horrifying for dogs!!! Can you control them with medication like with humans?? I used to have to take Phenobarbitol as a child. I wonder if there is something similar the vet can give you.

VICI, all toasty, thank you. My handy Hubby found and bought a new motor and installed it. Well, the electric motor company installed and balanced it in the housing, but Al put housing back in and did all the electrical connections. It is nice having a handy hubby hehehe. We also have our emergency heater and fuel, in case of power out or in case our furnace is not able to keep us warm these next 3 nights with extreme for us temps and wind chill.
I made a huge pot of vegetable soup with Italian seasonings, and it is yummy. I have Al's cornbread cooking now. My house smells yummy.
Went for my walk, just fore the snow was expected to start. We got about 2 minutes of flurries almost 2 hours ago, and just had about 2 minutes of sleet. Not much makingit's way to the ground, it is evaporating in the air. Suits me just fine!

Lucky is still having seizures after about 6+ hours. As soon as he acts like he's recovered from one, he has another. I had to cancel his Vet appointment because it would be too stressful on him to try to transport him 5 miles to the Vet. That was the Vet's decision.

Suzanne..... I had another dog years ago (Lyric) that had cluster seizures like this. We were able to control them completely with large daily doses of phenobarbatol. There is another epilepsy medication that's used for dogs, but I cannot remember the name.

Morning everyone!
June, losing the ute must be a happy/sad kind of thing. A ceremony is in order I think. Raising my coffee cup for a toast - the ute!
Heidi, great news about Rain. Sorry about Lucky's seizures. Hopefully they will stop soon and you can take him to the vet.
Love the dog and cat stories. Animals are such a wonderful addition to our lives.

OH Heidi, I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Six plus hours of seizures has to have been so hard to watch and so very hard on poor Lucky. Can you get him to the vet in your snow storm?
So far, we had 2 minutes of snow and 2 monutes of sleet and now we are having a cold rain. We were close to the forecast line between snow and rain,I would say they missed that by about 30 miles. My sister who is 60 miles north had snow this morning, not much, but snow.
