No hadn't seen that Cyn, that was only built just over a year ago I think, someone will be getting their butt kicked for that one.
Finally found GH on the first page and in good spirits.
Just took Bella and Poss for a walk around the block, hehe should of had leashes on both of them.

Morning all.

No word from MizT yesterday so perhaps her power is out.

I am so worried for my down-under friends.

Thanks for the news site, Suzy. The problem for me is I don't know where my Sudoku friends live. The devastation is horrendous, loss of lives including a young boy. AND IT'S STILL RAINING! Mind boggling.

Theresa - it has almost stopped raining in SE Qld with not much showing on the radar at the moment. Still there's so much run off and so much to let out of the dam that the effects on Brisbane will still be as bad as expected. And we can't be sure that the rain has gone. Might just be temporary for a few hours - I hope not!

I grew up on a river which flooded. We were high so only part of the property was affected. Saw houses, cattle etc go down the river and also there was sometimes loss of life, but this is almost beyond belief.
Our son and family are staying northern NSW. We phoned them this morning and told them to leave but by the time they packed and got underway the road was closed so they went back (staying at a property owned by her parents). Later found out it was closed for 1 1/2 hours to move cattle to higher ground. It will probably be worse tomorrow.
I understand all the loss of life and homes etc but I have high hopes they will get to Sydney by Saturday. I am having a big family BBQ and I would like all my family to be here. I do know their safety is more important though.

Hi all!
I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight. There is just too much happening and my mother's neighbour Karen will be keeping me updated with SMS through the night.
She says they are safely in the show grounds with her hubby still at home keeping an eye on the house and I suppose as protection from any possible looters.

South Brisbane Storms
The city's massive power grid will be shut down from 7am, sending 100,000 homes and businesses into darkness. The drastic measure means virtually every CBD business or home will be powerless. Power provider Energex has decided to play it safe and before a rising Brisbane River peaks again tomorrow

I see the McLeay river at Kempsey has a flood warning out and our Hastings River but further up from Wauchope at Kindee.
Hoping we do not get the amount of rain that Queensland has had.

Hubby has been called in to work tonight at 11:30pm at Bowen Hills. We aren't certain if he will be able to get there and if he does whether he will be able to get home again.
They will be moving the trains out as that area was flooded in '74.

I was concerned by a family sitting on a car floating in the water yesterday. They have said that the mother and son have been found but the husband is missing and they hold grave fears for his safety. Absolutely shocking stories are coming from the flooded areas. It's amazing that so many people have survived the flash flooding.

Gail - I have been crying solidly since yesterday!
Crying tears of joy at the moment though. My sister finally got a message through from my brother - we hadn't heard a thing since early this morning. He said they are all still fine and that he was settling down his evacuees. They took in neighbours from lower in their road.

Yes, Vicki, Kevin will be in my thoughts.
It's a bit of a guilty feeling to be high and dry and likely to stay that way and hopefully likely to retain our power. Tomorrow we will try to find something to do to help out. Col isn't working tomorrow. Most orders they have can't be delivered anyway.

We are all sending good vibes to those who need them. We still have another 2 days to get through, shelves are bare at the supermarkets, so many are panicking. But We Are Aussies. Oi Oi Oi!
We will survive.
Love and hugs to you all.

Broni - all those people who have been raiding the supermarkets had better be prepared to feed me when I run out - especially if the supermarkets in this area are cleared out unnecessarily!

The boss just rang. I won't be going to work tomorrow. The computers have been pulled apart and taken upstairs into the boardroom. All the expensive stock has been moved onto the higher levels in the warehouse.
The boss's house is still ok at the moment but many of the roads around work are flooded.
And....... it's pouring again here!

Thinking of you out in QLD hope you all have sufficient supplies to last you until things get better. People always seem to panic buy in these situations never thinking that some people may have to go without while they hoard too much.

Very true Brenda. I'd be more than happy to go to work tomorrow if all this wasn't happening.
I'm delighted to hear that my mum, Karen and her boys have been taken in by a lovely family. At least they will have beds to sleep in tonight (or lay awake in). There were no beds at the show grounds.

Hello everyone! Rolanda asked me to say hello to you all and she's enjoying her stay in Albany, as she always does.
We had a lovely barbeque tea at their caravan this evening and their new caravan is absolutely lovely.
Cheers,
Anne

I had hoped to wake up to good news. I didn't. It just keeps getting worse in Queensland. I'll check out your link in a minute, Suzy. Thanks for providing it.

I also woke up to a view covered in fresh snow. And it's still coming down. I need to bundle up in a few and go out and feed cows. I REALLY hope they behave today. In this kind of weather, I really appreciate my tractor. Besides the enclosed cab, it has heat, front and back wipers and 4WD, so I can handle most ice. If I need to, I can use it as a snow plow.

I'm HOPING that MizT and Al are at his radiation session, but I don't know. I have to go back out in a couple of minutes to turn off the water to the horses and cows. I'll check her weather then, and if necessary, give her a call.

I was just wondering Heidi, because she had posted a few days ago that the radiation might not happen this past Monday because people were being asked to stay off the roads. At least Joy was supposed to be with them.

It is snowing here, but just lightly. We have maybe 3 or 4 inches on the ground in total accumulation since winter began. This is less than normal for us, but I'm not complaining.

I've checked her local weather. It's clear and several degrees above freezing. She should be OK. I'll try to call there and see what happens. The odds are that nobody is home.

Nope.... no answer. They're not home. Or the phone isn't working. Remember, Al's daughter Joy is staying with them to help with all the work should the power go out. She sounds like a helpful, caring person. They're in good hands. I'm not too worried. I will try again later if MizTricia still hasn't checked in here.

It's still snowing here, too. At least I have plenty of food for the critters should we be socked in for a while.
