Blood groups - I'm O-, ex-hubby O+, so I had to have all the blood tests when pregnant - both my kids are O- like me. Which, of course, meant that when Karin married an A+ man, she had to be watched when pregnant but whatever they did was easier and less invasive than the constant blood tests I had to have when carrying them.

Just got a message from my niece up at Wivenhoe Pocket to watch Ch9 news tonight - I may see someone I know.
If you do see it and they interview anyone - my bro's name is Trevor and my niece and her hubby are Elice and Dan. Since Trev was the co-ordinator, it's possible he will be interviewed.

Afternoon all,
Cyn, I just had a painful shot at 5 months pregnant, and then another after I had Ebob, didn't need one after Alie as we were both -ve. They didn't monitor me for antibodies or anything like that, probably because of the shot.
I'll try to remember to watch the news!!
June, glad you dropped in, I was going to call you for your birthday yesterday but when I found out you'd been in hospital and were having a BBQ I figured you had enough on your plate.
Theresa, 2011 is already on the way up for you with your Ds surgery scheduled... hugs that there is more good news in your future.

Hi All, my house is quite quiet, since daughter has gone back to her friend's house. She stayed overnight last night, to be her to check her Dad's temp, and let me sleep. No getting up was the nicest gift to me.
Hubby surprised me today by going out to his dome office today.
Again eea, loved your quotes.
Good Friend cchecked the brakes on our minivan. Needs more than brake pads, needed a booster. hope he found the parts today.

Suzy - obviously procedures changed between when I had my kids and when you had yours. Karin had that 1 shot during pregnancy too. 40 years ago we were tested often for antibodies and if present and the child was positive, they would get a blood transfusion after birth. Primitive? Medicine has advanced so far. I was just explaining to Hayley that Antibiotics weren't always available - probably became widespread in the 50's. I was very ill at 4 (1952) and was given penicillin - however I've heard now that the doses were extremely high and that's what the dentists put down to the fact that my adult teeth decayed so badly. I looked after them but they just were chalky. Hence I have the dreaded dentures and have had since my 20's.

Hi, Everyone! It's nearly 11, and I'm finally getting here to read and comment! I hope you are all well or at least getting better!
Hi, Broni, Theresa, MizTricia, June, Tami, Judy, CynB and Gail!
Broni, thank you for reposting the youtube link! I think I'll listen again tonight! I hope all is well for you and family!
WooHoo! Theresa called me "young lady!" Haven't been called that in a long time! Thank you!''
June, I hope you had a wonderful birthday! So glad the BBQ went well! We're so sorry that you were in the hospital, but hope you are feeling much better now! After all the work of the BBQ (hopefully those in attendance helped and you just directed), please take care of yourself and get some rest, relaxation, rehydration and high quality food! {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and
Please take care of yourself - and share some of those hugs with your friend!
MizT, your current adventure is making you and Al stronger! {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and
to both of you - and to Joy! I hope you all recover quickly!
Theresa, I think the doctors also prefer that patients facing surgery "self-donate." I know mine did; they had me eating Total cereal for breakfast. I believe it has the highest iron content for cereals. I had to donate twice with two weeks between. That's a lot in the course of 15 days, but it helped keep my iron levels up. Good luck to your D! Hope all goes well with the testing and blood donation!
Tami, looking for lost relatives is SO exciting - and difficult when a foreign language is involved! We ran into that a couple of years ago. Hubby's Mom's parents came here from Hungary. He has two cousins whose mother (his Mom's S) married a man who was from Hungary. One of his cousins has been taking Hungarian lessons for a couple of years in hopes of finding out where her parents families were from. Hungarian is said to be one of the most difficult languages and is only remotely similar to another language (possibly Finnish). Good luck to you! Have you found anyone who can translate?
Judy, good for you and Rob attacking the garden! I would be surprised if you WEREN'T tired! You should sleep well tonight - and now you're ready for the air con repairmen, whenever they arrive!
Theresa, keeping everything crossed for you! Good luck for finding a job sooner, rather than later! Sending positive thoughts your way for you and all of your family!
Judy, a few of you button squash are looking like "dish" squash. I hope their size doesn't adversely affect their flavor! You'll have plenty for a meal!
Gail, now I need to consult Mr. Google to find out what kipfler potatoes are.
That's it for page 508!

Afternoon all,
Hubby got a text from Ebob this morning saying she finished work at 3.30, I thought that was strange as the same thing happened yesterday. Anyway, hubby, Alie and I decided to go out and have a family outing - coffee and/or muffins depending on age - and ended up at the mall around 2. Only to get a text from Ebob asking where we were. Hubby had his phone turned off all day yesterday and that was the text from the day before - lucky we were there!
One of Ebob's friends gave her $10 to buy flowers for me because she had heard about my stroke. We went looking for the type I want to put in my garden to make it low maintenance, couldn't find it and bought a chili plant instead!

On to page 509: Hi, Theresa, Gail, Heidi, Suzanne, Brenda, Tami, Suzy, eaa, Nola, Broni, June and CynB!
Happy Birthday
CynB! I hope you had a yummy cake
or some other sweet decadent dessert and got armloads of flowers
! I hope your day was terrific! Happy Birthday! [happybday
Heidi, I hope you felt better and the headache disappeared!
Theresa, I was also wondering about someone "egging" your house! Between the cold (who wants to be outside) and the price of eggs, it seems like a really foolish thing to do! Good for your hubby for doing the grocery shopping! I hope your D is feeling much better!
Since many of us are thinking about blood types, I'm O- (incorrectly typed as O+ the first time I donated blood.) Hubby is O+. Our Ds are positive; I know that much because I had to have Rhogam shots after they were born. I assume they're O+, but don't know for sure.
eaa, I like your new avatar - and always enjoy your sayings and words of wisdom! Thank you for sharing!
Nola, I hope all is going well for you and you're not working too hard! How is your family?
Theresa, I'm relieved that your D doesn't have pneumonia! Hopefully she can be diagnosed correctly and quickly and get back to being (and staying) healthy! No wonder you're exhausted! I hope you have a good night's sleep!
Suzy, what a great idea to have a clock that gives the correct time for at least one of the US time zones! I've always thought it would be a good idea to have multiple clocks on the wall with the correct time in various places - like you sometimes see in the background of a news program.
June, I hope you're enjoying having the Melbourne family with you today. I also hope your feet are propped up and you're relaxing while you enjoy! Have a great day!
Cyn, I'm so glad Andrew's party went so well! Did he enjoy his photo book? I hope you enjoy the BBQ birthday celebration for everyone at Karin's!
Every time I read one of your posts telling which of eaa's sayings is your favorite, I think, "Yes, it's mine, too." Then, someone else posts and cites a different one as favorite, and I think, "Yes, it's mine, too." I've decided they are ALL my favorites!

I just checked and google translate will translate from hungarian. It might not be a good translation but it might be enough to move on from. Just had a thought though, what does the hungarian alphabet look like? Could it be typed in using an english language keyboard?

Hooray! I'm now reading on page 510: Hi, Cyn, Vicki, Suzy and MizTricia!
Cyn, I'm thinking you are probably right that it will be your B who is interviewed for the news!
MizT, it's great news to hear that Al is up and has gone out to the dome/office! That's an indication that he's feeling better and attitude is less CCR and more normal! What a great gift Joy gave you to let you sleep and she checked on Al's temp! I hope both you and Al sleep well tonight - and that Joy sleeps well at her friend's house!
What a good friend to check your breaks on the minivan to see what was needed - and look for the needed parts. The friend has obviously seen that Al won't be able to take care of your vehicles for a little while! How very thoughtful!
Cyn, I remember hearing about the incompatibilities between mother and child blood types. Babies were called "blue babies" and needed an immediate and complete blood transfusion at birth. A few jabs of a needle is a small price to pay in comparison. At least, that's what I told myself when I was going through it.
Suzy, I love it - a chili plant instead of flowers. I hope you can find the flowers you were looking for so you can add them to the garden in the future!
It's nearly midnight here, so I'm going to call it a night! Sending lots of
prayers, positive thoughts and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to everyone! Please take care of yourselves! See you tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your day/evening/night!

Suzy, maybe Tami's cousin can scan the text in Hungarian and then "cut and paste" to get a translation. We have found that English to Croatian or Serbian and the other way around aren't always very accurate. But it may be enough to get an idea. The other difficulty is that it is no doubt hand-written, which may make it difficult to read. Then there's always the difficulty of dialects in different parts of a country. (We were able to find someone through a church who helped us with some of the translation we needed. Tami, that may help you and your cousins as well!)

Julie... My brother was a "blue baby", but it wasn't because of blood type. It was because he was born with a large heart murmur.
Now I need to go to bed. Tomorrow is the day that we take the calves to be sold. It's about an hour's drive each way. There is a bit of a mystery, tho'. My 6 replacement heifers are in with the group. Today they went to sort them out (I'd given them the ear tag numbers) and they could only find 5 of the 6! They couldn't find one of my registered heifers! They went through the group 4 times, and her number wasn't there! I'll be going through the group before we load them tomorrow, and I'll try to find her.

This one deserves a post of it's own..........
There were people lined up for miles/kilometers prior to 7am this morning volunteering to help others who had been flooded, there was a line bigger for the next four hour shift this afternoon. They had to turn people away as they did not have the rescources to process them and were begging for people to donate bleach, brooms and rubbish bags.

On a ironic note, insurance companies that had originally rejected claims are now advertising that they will now honour their flood insurance. it took one insurance company, Suncorp (not advetising here), to shame them into honouring their policies.

Julie, yes, this friend will be here in just a few hours to take my vehicle to his house, just down the street. It will come back repaired and his vehicle will be here if we need it. he just does things like that and would be insulted if $$$ were mentioned. He also got us his discount on parts.
Broni, amazing Aussie spirit, getting Brisbane back open so fast! sympathy on the car, know how you feel, as we were without ours since the snow and cold. it was drivable, but handled differently and on icy roads, i did not know that. Hum, train of thought jumped the track hehehe, Anyway, Broni, sending thoughts and wishes that your car is repaired in just days, and without great expense. Come rant herre anytime. beauty of this board, we take turns, listening one day, ranting the next. ranting is good, gets all the attached feelings out, at least for me. Huge Hugs.

Morning all, thanks for all the well wishes.
Cyn, I know what you mean by wanting some peace. We love our grandies, but there are times ..... Last night they spent almost the entire evening playing with their "dollies" and doing girly things, and I don't believe there was even one squabble (except with me over snacks) during the entire time I was with them, about 5 hours.
MizT, sounds like Joy lives up to her name. I am sure people are willing to help you and Al because you are the type of people to help others as well. What comes around goes around. Lifts the spirits to hear of people helping people in recuperating from the floods as well.
June, hugs to you and your friend.
Just off to grab a coffee and finish the reading. Seems like a chatty group since I went to bed last night, and I like to see that. Keeps me company.

Coffee in hand, cat on my lap - does life get any better? 2011 will be the best year yet for all of us!!!!
I slept a total of 7 hours uninterrupted last night. It's amazing how grandies can cure insomnia!
Julie, thanks for the tip about Total. I will mention it to my daughter, but I will get some for myself. I have an iron deficiency, so a bowl of Total every morning won't hurt.
Suzy, salsa garden ... yum!
Heidi, good luck finding #6.
Broni, they may only be possessions, but it's still hard on us. Money is always a factor. Rant away! Good luck on Possum's surgery!
