Heidi there has just been a news report of the smaller cyclone and the damage it has done. I hope Yasi doesn't make landfall somewhere with a high population.
Suzy, the main part of our house isn't too badly built it is the extention, which is our lounge and bedroom (above it) which is the problem along with any alterations the original owners did to the house. We have nearly put it all right now, it has taken 12 years and a lot of money.

Nola, congrats!
I just checked the Navy page and they are predicting a slightly more northerly path than yesterday - so not straight at Susan from Queensland anymore, straight at Cairnes. It's so big it probably won't make any difference to how she feels it, but it feels a little better somehow..

Brenda, some spacers of some kind were left out when they put the roof on this house and the inspectors missed it!!
Heidi, this is pointing at far north Queensland which flooded a few weeks before the southern ones that got all of the press. Susan was safe in those ones. It's so big that most of Queensland will be affected in some way, even if there is no damage. I just keep hoping it loses a bit of steam...

i just posted a photo of Alie's latest angry panther. I'm not happy with the photo as the flash has made some dark areas look light, but you get the idea.

I thought exactly the same thing Judy, brilliant painting!
And adding my hopes for the cyclone not to hurt anyone or do too much damage to property.
It is still fairly hot here today, though I have not ventured out of the house as yet. Hubby has gone to work (his one day a month!), so I thought Hannah and I could spend the day together at the shopping centre, where it's nice and cool! Hubby turned the aircon on before he left, but we have already had one power outage, and with the wind we are having I imagine there will be more, so I have left it off.

Suzy, love the panther!
Off to get the grandies to bed, and then I think I will put myself to bed as well. A storm is headed our way Wednesday, so I want to get a few groceries tomorrow just in case. I want to buy some canned goods in case we lose power - we can cook in the fireplace.

I will tell Alie how much you all liked her painting. She was dreading going back to school and I reminded her that it would be better because she had her electives this year. She said I know... I used to keep wishing it was music or VA and I only had them once a fortnight. Now I will have them 9 times a fortnight!!!

We are officially 39.9°C, although the thermometer at our front door says 38°c. It was 39°C at the bowling club in the shade so very hard for the ladies out playing in the sun. The ice machine was working overtime. We did offer to suspend the game but they just wanted to finish. They were all my age or a bit older.

Laura has mixed a packet chocolate cake for Sharon's birthday and I have some steaks out of the freezer to thaw. Too hot for fancy cooking.
Thinking of Susan. i have not looked at updates on the cyclone. My sister was in Fiji with a two week old baby when they had a very severe one.

Gekko and Good Evening, Everybody!
Hi, Suzy, Heidi, Gail, Broni, Sharon (Belated Happy Birthday)
, Tami, June, Theresa, Brenda, Nola, Judy and Rolanda!
Suzy and Heidi, we apparently live in an area that is too cold much of the year for us to have little lizards. There are a lot of 13-stripe ground squirrels (some people call them chipmunks) that live around the outside of our house and burrow. I suspect they must hibernate during the winter.
Gail, wish I could share some of our cold to cool off your hot! It's so good that Mr. Gail (and hopefully you, as well) slept reasonably well! I hope the appointment provided good news! I'm sure the "Gail" went well! So glad you could share it with Hannah!
Gail, Broni, June and Suzy, I hope the temperature cools a bit! Keeping fingers crossed for Susan and all those in the path of the cyclone!
Sharon, enjoy your birthday celebration! I hope Laura likes everything about school!
June, what a relief that you aren't suffering any major ill effects from your fall! Take care, and keep cool!
Theresa, I hope Mr. Theresa isn't working too hard or too long because of his office moving! Will they be done soon? I'm sorry your older grandie liked her doll blanket and showed her appreciation!
Brenda, how frightening that the roof over your bedroom is so dangerous! Sounds like a major fix if they even need to remove the ceiling. I hope all goes well and you are not inconvenienced in a major way! Hopefully all of the furniture will not need to be moved out of the room! Have a wonderful meeting with Kay and give her {{{HUGS}}} from us, please! Have fun!
Nola, keep up the good work! One more smoke-free day!
Suzy, compliments to Alie on her panther painting!
June, I hope the umpire (you) was able to keep cool at the bowls! Enjoy the celebration of Sharon's birthday!

I have nothing but the utmost sympathy to those suffering in those oppressively hot temperatures. It's easier to stay warm in cold temps than it is to cool off in extreme heat.

Heidi, I agree! We can always put on more clothes, more blankets, etc. when it's cold. Those of you suffering in the extreme heat can only take off clothes to a certain point. I also think heat can be more energy sapping than cold. Sending cool thoughts to those of you dealing with the high temperatures.
Suzy, unfortunately, that is probably so true in many cases. No wonder teens are confused!
It's nearly 1:00 and time for me to head to bed. Sending positive thoughts, prayers,

There has been a slight change come through, as expected. Even though it is still warm, the is a faint breeze blowing straight past us as we sit back to back at our puters! Personally I think it was because you shared some of your cool with us, thank you. Sending warmth to those with the cold snaps.

I will admit to enjoying not watching TV or pay much attention to the news of late. Of course I know of the impending cyclone, but am a little oblivious to it all. I truly hope those involved stay safe, and that the lines of communication are not down for long, for sanity's sake ♥

I have fallen behind and cannot catch up! Busy day again today. Al has the sore throat. We expected it, but later. he saw the doc today just to have him check, said it is normal with treatment. he is not eating or drinking, and I have had to coax, cajole and threaten to get him to take food by tube feeding. It is going to be a long 5 weeks! he is already loosing weight, but can hope some of the difference recorded today is because it ws a different scale, the radiation doc and not the chemo doc scales. He should be weighed tomorrow by chemo doc, and I can compare that weight to last week and HOPE it is not the 5-6 pound difference shown today.
JOY is moving back! She will be working remotely, telecommuting, and could be back by march 1. We as an extended family have to help fill in the gaps in her furniture. Lost some when she broke up with the partner, and they had been using some furniture of landlord, house was partially furnished. Her want list is not large, and my sister is downsizing from 2 houses to one, has some things up for offer. hope we can help her out. We can store some things for her out in the as of now unused shop, do not think Al will be using that for the next month.
I read to bottom of page 528, need to sdtart closer to the current date tomorrow. spending too much time on family page on the other site, we are recording all the family stories, you know the ones that are told and retold at gatherings. We have pages and pages, and some of the younger generation is enjoying them. We sisters are enjoying writing them, and reliving our memories comparing them with what sisters remember.

Just saw a little of the news myself - extra flights out of Townsville, people driving themselves out, gale force winds a couple of hundred km from the centre... yikes. I called Susan this afternoon and she sounded a little nervous. (Who could blame her) But that is unusual for her as she is used to all of this stuff and tends to take it in her stride.
And a massive storm heading across the US very soon.
Hugs and thoughts to your sister Gail!! Isn't that the epicentre??

Just spoke to Wagdy, very worried about his daughter. He can make some contact with her with his international card. They cannot go to work so I guess income as well as safety becomes a problem. With his accent I could not follow all he was saying but he asked us to pray for the safety of the people in Egypt.
