Suzy, if I counted correctly there are 68 bands listed for Soundwave. I really can't imagine it. I'm quite sure it would be too loud and crowded for me! (I know; I wasn't invited!)

Heidi, you've had quite a "birthing day" at Surreal Farm! Wow! Five calves and two of them new baby bulls! Hoping things continue to go well!

Julie, apparently you go through the list and decide which bands you want to see and go to wherever they are. I can't imagine a venue big enough to have multiple bands playing without drowning each other out - but I am an old fogey.

Broni, it's not the food I'm worried about, I've basically said we'll provide the sausages and everything else is BYO... of course that won't be the way it works out - I've already got a shopping list in my head.

The problem is a party with casual invitations... we could end up on the news!!

Do what we have done for years Suzy. We give the children money according to age, then if they choose to have a party it comes out of their money. They have to do the shopping for it, sausages, ice, bread, sauce etc (believe me, they can be VERY economical if it feels like their money) and organise somewhere for the drinks that people BYO. I offered my services as BBQ cook, I 'donated' a couple of salads, Beth bought ingredients and made a couple more. She had a friend bring around an old bath and Bob's your Uncle-instant party.
btw Remember how I said 'out of their money', most times they opted to keep all of it for play money...darling mercenaries!

Suzy - I don't know what it's like in NSW but if a teenager is having a party up here in Qld, you can advise the police who will do a few drive-bys to check that everything is in order. Not having had one I'm not sure how well it works. This comes after a teenager was killed at a party by troublemaker crashers.

And my fears are warranted - just found out one of Dana's friends is inviting other people, and they are inviting other people!!

We are required to notify the police if there will be more than 25 people Cyn and they will put us on their patrol, plus we can call them if there is a problem.

Oh, maybe I should have mentioned, I also get a list of who's coming, with the occasional rejig allowed. There are no invite ons.

Suzy if it was me, I would be putting limits on this Party, and invites only allowed.

Sounds like it is all ready out of hand Suzy.. just reading your comment on friends inviting friends inviting friends..
NO WAY would I be prepared to go ahead with this party!!

having missed out on Suzy Meatloaf (I was invited, only to be told, meatloaf all eaten),
and Gail is having Chilli Con whatever ( way too hot for me)
best I start on flinging.. and I have an extra coming for dinner, boy has invited his mate.

I would not be putting on this party.
We have friends who stupidly left two teenage girls at home and their friends invited friends and older people came along etc.
Part of the house was absolutely trashed to the tune of $10,000!!!
It can so easily get out of hand.

Dana called the offender and told him not to invite people. I stood in the background and yelled 'and uninvite anyone you've already invited'. The way we found out? Dana was talking to a girl she didn't know at school and was asked if she was going to the 18th birthday party on Friday night. Who's party Dana asked, already knowing. Someone called Dana, but I don't know if I'll go because I don't know her. Well I'm Dana and I don't know you either...

Apparently she has also sent a friend-side text about not wanting randoms showing up at her party.. She will be standing at the door and if any 'randoms' show up I will be asking them to leave with the phone in my hand.

Bugger Zusy, not going to be any easy night for you, at least Dana seems to be on your side so should make it easier, not trying to tell you what to do but work on her side she told you about it going around, hey you are both on the same team for once.

I saw your posts Viv, and was very relieved to hear from you. I didn't respond because we have a lot of things going on here (I tend to read, not post lately), but I did see some of the others responded re Ethan and his troubles.

Lost a friend from the bowling club today. I rang to check which hospital she was in before going to visit to find she had passed away an hour before. Not a real close friend but one I always chatted with.
I have been looking for some stickers and getting most frustrated because I cannot find them. I must have slipped them into a folder somewhere. How to waste half a day!

After a couple of hot steamy nights it is much cooler tonight. Should be better for sleeping. (although Ken slept for 3 hours this afternoon so I bet he comes to bed after midnight and puts on the radio!!!)

Suzy - I'm glad Ebob told you and that she didn't tell people to invite friends. It will make it all a bit tense on the night. You're right - have the phone in your hand! And good luck!

When I got up this morning the temp was -22C with the wind chill. High of -10C today, which is much more manageable. Almost makes me want to crawl under the covers again though.

Suzy, wish I could come to the party on Friday. I'm spending my birthday with the decorator and a bedroom designer. I booked the designer to come on Wednesday not realising what date it was.

Heidi, I think Gail and Theresa would like to get sent to your farm. I don't think that would be a punishment. They could even make shoveling out the barn into a fun activity.

Suzy, do you or your hubby have a large male friend that could be "hired" to stand at the door and act like a bouncer? Just the sight of a big guy could stop unwanted people.

Haven't read the posts yet. Overslept, and need to do a cow check. I did look outside quickly, and saw a cow in labor with the calves 2 front hooves visible (correct presentation). I'll need to check the whole herd since there was no note from IH.
