Coffee is ready. Who wants to join me for a cup. There is nothing better than fresh brewed coffee and a good friend to share it with.

Morning all. Thanks for the coffee, Tami.

Good luck Suzy, not that you will need it. How long is the casual position for?

I'll read posts later. Just dropping in quickly to say that there were no new calves born last night. I fed hay to the cows and took pictures of the bull calf born in November. I'll need the pictures for tomorrow. He's such an outstanding little bull (purebred, too) that I'd like to show him. I want to talk to the man that I bought his mother from (Johnnie), and see if he'd take this calf, train him for the show ring and show him for me. Johnnie knows his sire, Rede, well. He's too good not to show. And I have to get some of my stock into the show ring if I want to get buyers and good prices for my registered calves.

I need to run to town to get the film developed and pick up some insulators so we can finish that fence and get the power back up on it. That fence also holds George's steers in, and I've been worried that they'll go through the fence. Again.

Busy, busy. Busy.

Oh, yeah..... I told IH that I'm going to the KY Beef Expo Red Angus Show tomorrow and he hit the roof. Lots of swearing about me spending my money on cattle I don't need. He keeps saying that I can breed better animals than I can buy, but he doesn't seem to realize that I need good stock to start with to produce those better ones. My cow numbers are low as well because of some thinning out I did a few years ago. I want to have a 50 cow herd, and I don't yet.

Oh, yeah, again. Tomorrow is just the Show. The sale of the cattle being shown (+ others not being shown) isn't until the next day. I can't get in trouble tomorrow.

Nola, I hope you get some 'Nola' time today.

This is Alie's latest status:
why is everything so dramatic? Its like life has become a corny tv show

It's all to do with her band - which she is quitting today.

GREAT day!!! We just had 2 new bull calves born! One is out of my youngest purebred heifer, sired by the same bull who sired the calf that died. This young mama had no problem!
Robert and I have quit for the day. We got the new gate hung, and the fence completed. It looks great and works even better than it looks. All I have left to do today is to run into town to pick up the film being developed, then I need to bury that calf still.

Actually, the bird deal was today. I was in the farm store getting insulators and gate hinges, and I was offered a male Silver Pheasant. Of course, I said yes. We're trading him for a young pair of Gouldian Finches.

Since he's always inside, usually in his office, he only sees me when I'm inside taking a break. I wonder how he thinks things get done here.... by magic?

MizT - what the others said!
Heidi - I reckon men think a lot of things are done by magic - washing, shopping, cleaning etc. What makes me mad is that I get the groceries and then hubby says - 'Did you buy me some razors/deodorant whatever....' Ummm, not if you don't tell me you needed it, I'm not a mind-reader!!

I'm home and I survived!
Year 11 Physics were doing refraction which I haven't looked at since high school, but there was a great worksheet.

Year 9 Science were doing earth type stuff, ditto above.

Year 12 Physics were doing motors and generators - yikes!

Year 8 Science were doing, you guessed it, biology! But I was subbing for a good teacher so he made it all easy..
