Must be time to turn the page and post a report.
I've had a bugger of a time with my weight lately. Our house has had 2 cases of Strep so I've been running on no sleep. Not to mention the ordeal with my gramma. Ugh. I had gained a couple pounds and now I have gotten rid of them. I guess I'm not completely ready to quit smoking (still) and I'm (still) at the 1-2 a day. Good Work to those of you still going strong!!

Hello Everyone, I have not posted since the 10 of Feb, how slack. Anyway I gave up smoking a month ago, and am really proud of myself. I have only lost 4kg since I last posted which makes a grand total of 26kg. I have plateaued and I hate it. I am walking everyday and eating what I should be. It is driving me crazy. Anyone got any suggestions.

Weigh in report for week 14: definitely not a good start to the year, I've gained another 4 pounds since my last weigh in-week 9. It was actually worse (right after we got back from our trip), but I've brought it back down some since then.

Rena, you should be so proud of quitting. Good for you. Rose, I envy your determination. I had that for a while, but seem to have lost it. Angie, I'm so impressed how you handled your 6 year old's crisis. & with all the stress you're facing, well done on your own progress. Mamacita, great advice, and keep on keeping on, yourself. Welcome Shar. May your time here be beneficial. Good for you, appy. Cazablanka, instead of being frustrated by plateauing, be proud of quitting smoking, and remind yourself that most people gain after quitting. Be thankful you're just plateauing.

Hi all this ones for you Cazablanka
I have been on Jenny Craig for the last 9 weeks and have lost 10 kilos and started to plateau, my consultant suggested drinking water with lemon juice first thing in the morning, this helps to cleanse the system,
I also have a crazy habit where I do laps of my house during the commercial breaks of any show I may be watching, try and get aprox 10 thousand steps in a day , good luck and hope you are still off the smokes Liz

Believe it or not the way I get weight loss started is washing inside walls. I must be using muscles I don't usually use or something because it really works for me. And now I am just realising that it has been a while since they've been done, and I gained a kilo over Easter... Maybe later...

Caza, the naturopath at the health retreat that I went to has us eating a couple of pieces of fruit first thing for the same reason as Liz. I also hit the dreaded plateau in Jan/Feb but got anal retentive and started doing a whole heap more exercise and it started to come off again. Don't overdo it, though, as I then became very lethargic about 4 weeks into this new routine (mineral deficiency explained in earlier post) and stopped all together. I have started up again but I am now trying to do more than I was doing in Jan but less than I was doing in Feb/Mar and more variety in the exercise.
BTW, weighed in yesterday at 65.5kg!
Keep going everyone and be proud of yourselves that you are getting back on with it whenever you have a hiccup.

I haven't been here for almost a month. Still not smoking. Down to two pieces of gum a day. I will quit using it at the end of April. Still gaining weight though. I haven't been out walking. Lots of excuses, none of them good. Well, actually, one is. I twisted my ankle last week but before that no good excuses. The weather has been getting a little better, and what with baseball practice and Guides, I have lots of opportunities to walk. Give me a good hard kick in the butt. I promise to try harder.

Rena, dear, you have overcome a huge obstacle... just by quitting smoking. I'm so proud of you. Here's your kick *tap*. You are doing awesome!
Rose, weigh to go, getting back on track!
Suzy, I'll be washing walls next weekend in prep for painting. Perhaps it will help me too?
Keith, welcome back. It's good too know that others struggle. What's that old saying about learning from others?
Caza, 26kg?!?! How wonderful. While on your plateau, remind yourself of how far you have made it. It makes it easier to accept the scale not moving. Also remember that it means you are not gaining!!

As for me.... UGH! You don't even want to know. Has it really been since the 4th when I posted last?? Things are going okay, I guess. I have some weight to lose yet to reach my ultimate goal. As for the ciggies? Not good. This past weekend, I helped my parents landscape. My dad smokes like a chimney, so it was extra difficult. I had at least double a day than normal. Back to losing and quitting!!

Angie, keep on trying. I have it easy here when it comes to not smoking. I don't know very many people that smoke and I only see them rarely. I have discovered that a lot of the people I know have quit and they are all very supportive. I had been saying that I wanted to quit for the last year or so. It was my time to quit. You will get there, too.

Okay, here goes....
Four months and I am off the Nicorette gum now. Time flies. Still trying to make walks a part of my routine, getting more in each week. At least I seem to have stopped gaining weight. Now I need to lose some. Have to look good for my trip down under in November. Besides, summer is coming and you know what that means. Beach time.

Hi Rena, I'm still around once in awhile. My weight is staying pretty steady. I'm still about 12-15 pounds heavier than I was at the end of 2007. I'm still smoking 1-4 a day, but am finding that I am not craving the extra ones nearly as often anymore. Must be a sign that my body is getting ready to let me rid them completely!

Welcome back... ME!!! :) hahaha.
Well, I was a first pager here on the health/fitness page, and then I abandoned it.. look at all the health that's been going on! Awesome.
Well, I'm not at this point following a diet exactly, but I am eating healthier foods than I have been, and I believe I'm still losing weight.
I try not to check the scale too often.
I'm glad I found the page again.. maybe i'll post in favorites

Wow.
Busy place.
This is kinda sad.
Okay, well my report is that I have started walking everyday with another lady. More enjoyable this way. I also picked up a used treadmill thingy for when it's raining. I'm determined to lose these 15 pounds that I gained back! I'm still smoking, though the urge has decreased quite a bit.
Sadly, this page has come to a grinding halt. I will pop in occasionally to see if anyone has anything they want to add.

OK. Where have you all gone???
Weight: still the same
Exercise: waking at 5:30 am in order to get time on the machine-of-death and then stretching and Qi gong before the babies wake up. Also trying to get other exercise in during the day.
Size: I have dropped 2 dress sizes!!!! Yeah me!
So, I have been loosing fat but gaining muscle at the same rate.
Saw a naturopath at the health retreat 4 weeks ago - he hooked me up to this machine that was developed by NASA and told me that my cellular age was 43.1. This isn't too bad considering that I was 42 in early March. It also said that I needed to loose a minimum of 7 kg of fat and put on a minimum of 2 kg of muscle in order for my body to work optimiumly. Only one problem... if I have been losing size but not weight, how do I know if I have achieved his goal???

Six months smoke free. Time flies when you're not smoking. Haha. Also walking every day. I made it up the driveway today without stopping. It is pretty steep and I usually stop about two-thirds of the way up. Today I wasn't paying attention and there I was, at the top without realizing. How cool is that? It may have something to do with the not smoking.

Hello all
Making a foray into the unknown....
The kids and I are going on a health kick these school holidays... exercise and good food
I'm about to start a new quit-smoking drug, Champix, though as I plan to quit on day 10 and that would be the middle of the school holidays if I start now, I will wait another few days

Hi all
I just notice this forum.... Couldn't read all the comments but glad to see the effort and support. I myself have a yo-yo type of weight...and I'm concern about eating healthy. I found a great recipe for low salt, low fat dressing....will post it in recipe....
For a change of taste, I use plain soya sauce for salad dressing.... It works for me!

Hi there folks!
Well, I made it through the wedding and even though I'm sure I saw a Greenpeace boat lurking off the Fijian coast they didn't feel the need to land and roll me back into the water!
So I must have looked OK. In fact my dress was probably a little loose as I was very worried that all that resort food would lead to a blow out and so I really watched what I was eating.
So. I got back home and was feeling quite lost for a while. My overwhelming personal goal for the past 18 months was to lose the weight so that I could hold my head up at my wedding. What was I going to do now? Ahhh, young grasshoppers. Seek, and you shall find. Before I left for Fiji, I had visited with my doctor and, on the advice of the naturopath that I saw at Camp Eden, I gave a whole heap of blood up for testing. The upshot is that I have Coeliac's Disease. The great thing about it is giving up all things that contain gluten had me dropping 2 kg in one weekend and I am now sitting at 62 kg!!! Only 4 kg to go to reach my goal weight. The difficulty lies in all the things that I can no longer eat. It has forced me into more cooking and cooking from scratch... my family are loving it and say everything tastes better. They are all gluten free as well (except for bread, biscuits and flavoured snack foods) as 'it is the least we can do for you, Rose' and that certainly makes it easier. (and I broke down sobbing when told that - I have a beautiful husband)
I've been finding it difficult to get the cardio exercise in as it has been bitterly cold here in Sydney and I have been dealing with both Elinor and VB with colds, ear infections and tummy bugs since our return, and walking with them in those conditions would come under the heading of Not Good. Bring on some slightly warmer weather and I'll be able to deal with the cold in the garage again and exercise whilst the little darlings are asleep.
Keep working at it everyone. Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day or week. It doesn't mean that you have failed. Just sigh and start again. Just keep your goal in mind and why you chose it. Baby steps.

Congrats all for your progress!
I am on day 4 of my quit smoking pills, I'm supposed to quit on day 10... I can't do patches of gum so hopefully the pills will do it for me!
Weight is 0 plus 9kg. (I want to end up 9kg lighter than I am now).
I signed up for pamphlet delivery to help with the exercise thing. The first day was easy, this batch is disgustingly heavy. Not good for the environment even if it is good for my weight!

Rose, congraulations on the wedding weight success! The best thing about being diagnosed with Coeliac's disease is that you probably feel a lot better now you are avoiding gluten! You must have felt bad a lot before..

I have a small niggling problem. My skin is nylon sensitive. I cut labels off new cloths before wearing them. the main hassle are bras. I'm a C cup so I'm not big in that department. I buy good bras but they drive me insane. Any help out there?

well, let's put this very important page back on top of the Forum lists. I have lost the 2k I put on over winter binge-hocolating which is my personal bug-bear. I have about 4 or 5k to go to my optimum weight, but am eating heathily (without hocolate)and excercising a bit so it is all good.
I thank goodness I never took up smoking, as withdrawing from hocolate is hard enough.

This one really sounds wonderful. Six meals a day. You are not allowed to go for more than 3 hours without eating ever... (Sleep exclueded)
You must go to bed with a full belly.
No excercise past walking for the first 4 weeks, light exercise thereafter.
The secret is high protein... low carbs.
