Good maEn everyone!
Nola: Thanks, I am VERY proud of Darrell and proud of being a military wife!! He's back at work, left this morning, is on overtime AGAIN!!! (that's ok by me, nice when he gets paid!!) I was overwhelmed at the fact that I was acknowledged...Darrell said if it was the Army doing the retirement, it would be more like "don't let the door hit you on the way out!" I've heard that from several ex-Army National Guard people we know!! Kinda sad that the sacrifice is not always appreciated (as it should be!)

Bless you for buying up on eBay Heidi!
Cyn, thoughts of Kate on this most difficult of days.
Brenda, yes, there is regrowth in the affected areas, gum trees are very regenerating in that way. They look like they have green tights on!
We go past one area that was burnt when we go shopping, and the gum trees there are starting to sprout new growth. Sometimes it is watching nature rejuvenate herself that helps the people realise life does go on.

I am OK everybody. The flooding is not this far south (Louisville is an hour north), and even if it did, I'm on the highest point between Louisville and Nashville. It does NOT bother us here. We just got light rain and a LOT of
thunder boomers.

Hello, All! It's past midnight here. I've been trying to quickly read comments.
CynB, you can do it! One small slip-up, and you didn't enjoy it. Do you have a goal object for you (or grandies, maybe) that you could save for instead of buying the cigarettes?
Thanks to those who enjoy the peacock stained glass avatar. I think I may have a few more.
Heidi, your hand sounds colorful & painful. Darn sheep! Congrats on getting 59 sheep to their new owner & guard dogs! I hope that means the coy-dog will move on!
Brenda, sounds like your girls are enjoying their trip. D1 was in Banff for a music festival while in college & found it very picturesque!
Gail, hope all is well! Have you finished all the landscape work? Thank you for the links!
Suzanne, it's good to see you again! Congrats to Darrell & you as you celebrate his retiring from military life. We're all thinking positive thoughts for an improved situation in your house-hunting & buying!
Suzy, sorry there's so much ffuts to get ready for Ally's sleep-over birthday party. Happy Birthday to Ally this weekend!
Congrats to her for her first newspaper interview. You have a couple of budding celebrities!
Hello to Rena, Nola, Rolanda, Stella, Mamacita, MizT, Heidi, CynB, Gail, Suzanne, Brenda, & others I have missed!

I was right about having a few more peacock stained glass avatars!
I see Debby & Tami the T have visited this page. Hello to both of you!
Suzy, do you have an upside-down smilie? Life will get better!
Heidi, shouldn't IH have been making dinner for you after all the physical work you did moving the sheep?
I'm afraid I need to head off to bed. I have an acupuncture appointment relatively early (luckily not as early as physical therapy today).
Good Night, Everyone! Sleep well to all sleepers, and enjoy the rest of the day to all "awakers".

I took a shot of my hand today (using the pooter) and posted it on my page. The swelling is WAY down, and the color didn't show up as well as in real life, but it'll give you an idea. I still cannot touch it without sharp pain.
The Coy-dog and his pack (he now has a son as well as the coyotes following him) will probably move to the psycho neighbors place now. They raise valuable (not to me) show goats. They've acquired a taste for sheep sized critters.

Good afternoon lovely SA people.
Suzanne - nice to see you back again and seemingly happier.
Julie - I, too, love the peacock avatars.
Gail - thanks for that link to the re-growth photos. It's always heartening to see the way the Aussie bush can re-grow and green up. It's just a shame that it's not as easy for the humans who suffered through the same bushfires.
Suzy - wish Ally a Happy Birthday for the weekend. Hope her sleepover goes well for her (and you). and tell her
congratulations on being interviewed.
Brenda - glad the girls are still enjoying Canada.
Heidi - took a look at that hand - ouch!! Glad all is going well with the finches, and that you are not flooded out.

Just back from the funeral - or 'Celebration of Life'. All went as well as can be expected - Kath was very composed and, of course, very sad.
But, we did get a glimpse of a very talented, smart and much-loved young man taken before his time.

Hi EVERYBODY...would love to be game enough to TRY to list you all but would probably miss someone like the galah and never hear the end of it...so... a general greeting it is...
So many comments to make I don't know where to start... so I won't.
Went out last night to the concert hall ... AGAIN .... my car knows its own way in there by now! Went to see the WHITE ALBUM CONCERT. Fantastic. The show was opened by a neighbour and one of the dads from primary school that used to sing with John Farnum and many touring greats... that was a pleasant surprise... didn't know he was in the show.
CONSEQUENTLY I am VERY tired and have declared today a rest day. Gail came down off the mountain yesterday... she is going to get used to city traffic at this rate... and we had a final attack on the grape vine. We have let in a lot of light. It is too late in the season to attack it anymore...it is dripping sap everywhere and I am feeling VERY guilty. Next thing to attack will be the roses. Their turn tomorrow. We shoul be able to get them finished by the end of next week. It will be interesting to count them and see how many I have left... have actually lost a couple that hadn't been in the ground long enough during the summer. Too hot and dry for them. The established ones coped fine...just didn't grow as much.
This post was written about 6+ hours ago and have
only just got back to the computer...better submit and do some reading.

My previous post was interrupted by the 'doorbell' ... ha ha.. we don't need a doorbell with Jess about. She was REALLY making a racket...unusual when it is someone she knows at the door... treble what you heard yesterday Gail. It was Dino... after opening the door the reason became apparent. Merlin had come for a visit. What a treat that turned out to be. He is such a beautiful dog... I fell in love instantly and Jess was charmed. [she was a little miffed when I invited him to sit on the sofa with me..] We had finished lunch and were having a good natter when there was another knock on the door. Another of her favourite people... my nephew Bryn. He has been looking to buy a business in the area... could everybody that has good connections upstairs put in a good word please... it would be fantastic to have him in the area ... I wish I had the money to set him up. I have no doubt that he will make a go of this and that I would get paid back.
I am now exhausted from lots of chat, lunch, coffee and cake... BRB if I don't fall asleep...

CynB, good luck with the non-smoking, you're over the worst bit (from what I've heard!) Glad that you're feeling a bit better.
Bean, sounds like a great night! Your garden must be looking a lot better after all the work you two have done. Remember, you can always give me a call if you need more people to help. :)
I've just buried our bokashi, and fertilised my little daffodowndillies - they look so pretty! Winter must be almost over - everything is starting to look nice again. :D

Cyn, my thoughts were with Kath too. I read a story today about a British woman who was charged extra because she stayed 10 minutes too long beside her child's coffin (they changed their mind and didn't charge her after all) and it made me think of Kath and how hard it would be. It would take friends and family to help me leave. Many more thoughts going her way.

Good Maen SA8ers! Supposed to be in the mid to upper 90's today! I am SICK of this hot weather! Darrell just got up (he worked OT Monday night--only got 3 horus down time) so I will have to sign off for now.
Cyn: prayers & love to Kath & family...I went to a service for an assistant manager at Prudential years ago and we were laughing AND crying at the same time...beautiful idea...That's all from me for now, TTFN.

Hello everyone. All is well here. The weather is supposed to be cooler this week. Also might get some rain. That should help with the smoke. I have finally booked our horse ride for Friday. One hour should about do me in. I choose the 9 AM ride. It shouldn't be too hot then.
We have been going to the beach lots. On Monday, I took the girls, Kyle and the dogs to the river. We all had a great time. Nuka really liked swimming. She swam across twice(on leash) to check out the other side. Sindy just wanted to climb on Kyle's head when she got in the deep water. Even Max swam a little, he's not very good at it. The water was quite warm because it is coming from the lake, which is very warm right now.
I am in the process of cleaning out the clutter in my house. Working on the basement right now. There is way to much junk in this house. I guess I should get to it.
Take care of yourselves.

Well Suzy, as I was afraid, I cannot now get my MRI until hubby gets back from his trip, I must wait till Aug 18th! They had first available appointment on the day he leaves, bummer! I was soo trying to get it in before he leaves. At the moment we only have one auto, so I cannot be assured he will get that dern second one repaired in time. He is not feeling well, keeps refusing to go to doc, a nasty sore throat and just tired and wants to sleep. MEN. Can't buy parts and repair vehicles when you sleep all day.
Heidi, I am glad you got the sheep moved, go and get yourelf a shower, please hehehe. Now that the sheep are gone, what do you think the dogs will hunt for prey? Are the pack dog dogs or other coy dogs? I think I told you about the pack of domestic dogs that were terrorizing the farmers where I lived before. It took a concentrated effort of all the farmers, sitting out many nights with guns before they got the alpha dog and a few others killed. with him gone, the pack sort of broke up.
SUZY, how many girls will you/did you have for the birthday sleep over?

MizT... The "pack" consists of the dominant coy-dog (a coyote/german shepherd cross), his 3/4 coyote son and 4 or 5 coyotes.... last I heard. They hunt around the clock... frequently in broad daylight so staying up at night with guns doesn't work. They have no set pattern of time or trails. You never know when or where they will appear. The last one they got was a gorgeous black and white pinto ram of mine. He weighed close to 200 lbs and could, I thought, take care of himself.

Hi to you all.
Pleased Rena is OK and the swimming sounds like fun.
Heidi, good news about the finches and sorry about your sheep. My daughter broke a bone in her hand like that and a week or so later had to have a plate screwed in to hold it together. With all the work you do on the farm you should have it X Rayed and fixed properly.
Suzy and MizT both without cars. I hope they can both be fixed and soon. I hope Ally has a great birthday. (crafts) is it 13 or 14?

All the spring flowers are starting to appear but I could cry when I look at my lovely magenta coloured magnolia. The possums have eaten nearly all the buds and it is all bare when it should be covered in large flowers.
Cyn, good luck with getting rid of the cancer sticks. We are going to a funeral today for a friend who died of lung cancer from smoking those things.
