Hello lovely people - just passing through on my way to get my hair trimmed and coloured so I won't look too awful when I meet everyone on Saturday.
Thanks for the photos, Tami. Just had a quick look, have to go back later to look closer at the dog in halloween costume.
Today is my Grandson Lachlan's 11th birthday - I can't imagine where the time went. He'll be a teenager in 2 years, able to learn to drive in 5 years (wahhhhh!)

Hi all - back from the hairdressers looking darker-haired than in recent years. I looked in the mirror and thought - 'Wow, I'm me again!'
Loved the pics from the Florida meet, thanks Tami and Brenda. But my vote for best pic goes to Rachel, the scary halloween dog!
Thanks for the best wishes for Lachlan's birthday, will pass them on to him.
Rolanda - thinking of your Mum as she goes through this lot of Doctor's/Clinic visits. {{{hugs}}} to you both.
Viv - thanks for the Melbourne Cup link - nobody has posted any hot tips yet.

(Hours later, but - ) Suzy - by the time your girls are ready to be independent, you will be ready to allow it. They will be more mature than they are/seem now. In lots of ways it is a relief, although a part of you will never let go, nor should you.

Susan, you are not the only one that a time change messes up, I understand completely. It will take me more than a week to settle into this new time.
OH Suzy, bite your tongue. I would not wish my achies on anybody, not even a dog!
I found the photos Brenda posted, there sure were a lot of smiles on the page! Glad you got to meet, hope everyone had a great time!
TAMI, how did you get that pup to tolerate the costume? too cute! Did she keep it on long?
Rolanda, hope the appointment for your Mom at the cancer clinic goes well. Hopeing for a plan for her that will work and not have too many side effects. Do let us know how it knows. AND you take care of you, you have a lot more going now with helping your mom through this, Hugs to all of you. I do hope the boy will drive over and get his mom, help you put a bit.
Wishing the Rolanda boys are able to study all the parts that will be on the test and wonderful grades as they finish up this year of Uni.
CynB, big change in hair color? Or just a touch up? I know you will be boo-ti-ful!
It is time to eat , wonder what I can make for today. I am learning how to count to 20 very well ( 20 grams carbs allowed per meal and snack) But it has cured my craving foods that are not good for me, this certain amounts of certain foods at specific times.

'Ken is on his way to Paris' - sounds so exotic! I hope he has a great trip.
MizT, I was telling a friend whose doc is messing with her meds trying to get her levels sorted about how successful your diet is. I said I'd find out if it had a 'name' so she could research it, but she doubts she would be able to stick to it...

many many years ago, um 56 years to be exact. Mum newly arrived in Australia, living at her middle brothers place in Sydney, she was working at a Clothes Factory as a Machinist. Her knowledge of the English Language was was very minimal.
She arrived at work in the morning, someone came by and asked for money, at one stage all the machines stopped, someone turned up the radio and this awful racket came from it, someone jumped up and down and shouted with excitement, then chocolates was handed around, then everyone went back to work as normal.
When home from work that evening Mum told her Brother and SIL about strange happenings at work that day.. Her Brother said oh it was the Melbourne Cup. Mum says " Heh ??? " and not any wiser.
Many years later, in Perth, I would have been a toddler, our next door neighbour knocked on the door and asked if Mum was going to have a bet today. She says " a Bet??? ", the neighbour explained the Melbourne Cup to her.
It is then she understood what had happened at factory in Sydney in 1953.
and yes she did have a bet, and her horse, Lot Fury, won.

Good morning lovely people.
Heidi - I think the favourites are Viewed and Alcopop, which will be a sentimental favourite amongst the punters (rags to riches story). Still not sure what I'm going to back but only have an hour to decide before I head off to place the bet.
June - what's the weather going to be like in Sydney on Saturday. I'm hoping for warm/hot because of what I plan to wear. BTW - I'm flying down in my crocs and changing to sandals when I get there.
MizT - my hair colour is ostensibly only one shade darker but it looks much darker. It's a special colour for covering grey hair and fades with washing and exposure to sunlight (and we get heaps of exposure here) so it will fade but the blonder one went brassy and I did not like it on me. I'll have to wait and see. If the regrowth is too obvious I might have to go back to the lighter one. I wish I'd just let my hair go grey naturally now.

Does she still have a bet, Rolanda? I wonder if there's a horse with a good omen name - just looked and not much available - Spin Around (maybe the docs will spin around their previous diagnosis?) or Daffodil (Daffodil Day - Cancer Council's fundraising day). I thought I'd put an each way bet on Daffodil.
All the best for today, Rolanda (and your Mum) xx

Rolanda, sending good thoughts for your mom.
Tricia, Rachel spent the evening sitting on our front porch handing out candy. Hubby took the boys, I sat out front, with a drink and made all the kiddies happy. Rachel was a good girl and the kids got so excited to see her.

Hi SA8.
Good luck to anyone placing a bet today.
I would have picked Roman Emperor but did not place a bet as I am still battling this virus or whatever it is I have and went out to
get the paper and that was enough for me today.
I have a doctors appt. for next Monday as the doc wanted me to have the swine flu injection.
But I am not having any injections while I am not right and think I will get tested for Glandular Fever etc.
This is just not like me at all.
It is warm here today.
Hi to June. Hope you win your bowls.
Enjoy your lunch Suzy. You must be close to getting the car now.
