Just before I was going to be picked up to go to the races the phone rang - it was the high school, Ally is sick can I pick her up. Sigh. I picked her up, brought her home, made sure she was settled, went to the race track, watched a couple of races and then came home again. Thems the breaks.

Wanted to thank everyone for the wishes for my brother who had surgery last Friday. He's doing really well and was thinking of driving to the store this afternoon. He has permission to work from home for about 2 weeks and had already checked work email this morning.

Sorry, but I'm headed for bed. Just dragging here, and a not-quite-right feeling in my throat and one ear. If there are any infections, the surgery will be postponed. I need to call the surgeon's nurse first thing in the morning.

Take care, Everyone! I hope to have a minute or two here tomorrow. Then, if the surgery happens, no access to the internet for at least a week or more. (Hoping hubby will sign in and let everyone know how things are going.)

It is HOT here, they announced while I was at the races that it was 37C. It feels really humid but the bureau says it isn't - I think their equipment is broken!

Viv, sorry you don't feel well. I hope the doc can get that sorted out. I want to get the swine flu injection too. My doc is having clinics but they are booked up way in advance.

No Julie! You've done so much preparation for the surgery! I hope it's just a yucky feeling and you wake up feeling better. Sending hugs, thoughts and wishes that everything goes well...

We won the bowls but finished early because of the heat.
I had 5 horses in sweeps, including the Favourite, but they are all still running!!!

Been a busy girl with Phillip Island (HEAVEN!) and a trip to the airfield to meet up with Steve (Vdv) and the gang.
WAY too windy for the flight :-(
Steve said he could handle it, but I probably couldn't (so true!)...so I took pictures of the plane and got my picture taken IN a plane with the headset on pretending to fly! We were able to cookout a lunch in a sheltered area near the field. Even the skydivers had to cancel their appointments.

Julie - you are in my thoughts and prayers...hope you wake up just fine and please do insist that Mr. Julie gets word to us after the surgery.

Well the race is over. Suzy, we had $2 each way on Crime Scene which will pay $20.20 - OK except that we placed about $36 worth of bets. I suppose some back is better than none. When I was driving down to the TAB to place my bet someone on the radio tipped Shocking - should have listened.
Vici - judging by the wind at the track, I'm not surprised you didn't fly - what a shame.
Julie - glad to hear you brother is recuperating well.
Viv - I do hope you find the solution to what's ailing you. Try a naturopath or a homeopath.
Suzy - how is Ally now. Hot here too but not 37 - probably only 30-31C but humid.

Suzy, I had my swine flu vaccine yesterday. The school board is giving it to all students whose parents approve it. They were at my school yesterday. Hubby came as a volunteer to help with the kids so he got one also. A few kids wanted to back out but he was able to calm them down. He is really good with kids. See you all later.

Viv.... I, too, am suspicious of Glandular Fever (Mono). There IS a blood test for it, but no treatment. Unfortunately, the chronic fatigue can stick around for 2 years afterwards. I know all about that.

I'm leaving for the Dentist's office in a few minutes. I'll be getting 7 new crowns, and getting another tooth filled. I've spent so many hours in a Dentist chair that I've learned the terminology. My Dentist keeps asking me to work for her.

I didn't have any bets for the Melb.cup,just in sweeps and didn't get a thing.The residents had a great day as we dressed them up in all their finery and had made them hats.My partner and I were glad the day was over,we were tired.

The hospital called to let me know I need to arrive at 8:30 a.m. (previously had been 5:30). There will be one or two single knee replacements before my surgery. (Darn - was hoping to be first.) Oh, well, surgeon seems to be fit and alert, so middle of the day works, whether he's a morning person or an evening person.

Thanks, Suzy, your wishes helped & throat & ear felt fine this morning. Then started feeling a bit queezy in tummy (combination of taking iron pill without eating and a bit of nerves, methinks). Feeling fine now, though!

Hope to pop in again before we depart for the hotel - got a reduced rate when we thought we had to be at the hospital at 5:30. Hotel requires 24-hours to cancel, so we would have to pay even if we stay at home, so will go to Chicago for the night.

Richard and I went down to the Everglades yesterday and the up to Naples, had a fantastic time on the sirboat tour. Now I have swam in the Atlantic and have had a paddle in the Gulf of Mexico.
Tomorrow we are heading down to the Keys, staying away for 3 or 4 days. Weather here is hot too. This morning it was 35C and now (nearly 5pm) it is 30C. Haven't had any rain either.

Not really here.. Mum and I are out the door in less than a hour.. The usual 6 weekly specialist appt (for Mum's other Health issues she has had for 9 years.

good mAen everyone...Had problems working with my pda, getting it to connect with my new computer tower (windows vista 64-bit, had 32 bit before, worked fine). Spent some time with a tech named Prince (seriously!!--was going to ask him if he could sing!!) found I need a Bluetooth adapter for it, so it'll work...Microsoft intelligence!!
Want the Yankees to win at home in 6 not 7 games!!! Sorry TTT & Mamacita!!! Guess we'll know tomorrow night!!!
