May I ask what Pavlova is?
From the name, I extrapolate Pavlov, hence salivating at the mention of it, but that doesn't describe it.

I have cooked the pudding on Christmas eve before but it certainly isn't my preferred option...I love to make one in a cloth a couple of months before and see it hanging from one of the beams to dry out..puts me in the right frame of mind for everything... Had trouble deciding on the recipe and in the end I just made it up...measured out 1.1 or 1.2kg of fruit, chopped it up and tipped a cup of brandy over it and I give it a stir every time I walk past.
It will be very interesting to see what it is like...it is always a worry when I go off on a tangent throwing in what ever I fancy!! I wonder whether I can find the sixpences and threepences...nah...best forget about that!! I have written down everything I put in JUST IN CASE it turns out to be a winner...wondering whether to put some marmalade in for good measure...haven't put mixed peel in this and so it might be nice... DECISIONS...DECISIONS...

Bean, whatever it is that you are making, it sounds wonderful. Sometimes the best food is what is just "thrown together" and not from a recipe.

Pavlova - egg whites and sugar!
Doesn't sound too appetising that way, but trust me, it is to die for!
I decorate it with lashings of whipped cream, and fruit on top (bananas, strawberries and kiwi fruit) or do a choc mint topping. Mmmmmmm

Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky little lamb
Do you see what I see
A star, a star
Dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite
Said the little lamb to the shepard boy
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky shepard boy
Do you hear what I hear
A song, a song
High above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea
Said the shepard boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know
In your palace wall mighty king
Do you know what I know
A child, a child
Shivers in the cold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Said the king to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace people everywhere
Listen to what I say
The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light
The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light

Time to sing on SA - let's get Lizzy back here, so sing REALLY loud...
Here's my selection: Carol of Bells
Hark how the bells,
sweet silver bells,
all seem to say,
throw cares away
Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold,
ding dong ding
that is their song
with joyful ring
all caroling
one seems to hear
words of good cheer
from everywhere
filling the air
Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale,
Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
On on they send ,
on without end,
their joyful tone to every home
Dong Ding dong ding, dong Bong

I'll join the singing for Liz - with my favourite 'Winter Wonderland'
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town.
Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.
When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Well, I'm going to have to close down now and finish my preparations for tonight and tomorrow.
Once again, I'd like to wish each and every one of my dear SA friends and their families the most wonderful Christmas/Chanukah (for Tami). I hope Santa brings you everything you want but the most important things are health, love and happiness.
I tried to get a message to each of you that I could either by email or to your personal page - if you didn't receive it - I apologise. Love to you all and I think I'll let the chickens dance as well -
Overkill? Yes I thought so too!!

One of my favourite Australian Christmas Carol
The Three Drovers
♪♪♪ Across the plains one Christmas night
Three drovers riding blithe and gay,
Looked up and saw a starry light
More radiant than the Milky Way;
And on their hearts such wonder fell,
They sang with joy. 'Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!'
The air was dry with summer heat,
And smoke was on the yellow moon;
But from the heavens, faint and sweet,
Came floating down a wond'rous turn;
And as they heard, they sang full well
Those drovers three. 'Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!'
The black swans flew across the sky,
The wild dog called across the plain,
The starry lustre blazed on high,
Still echoed on the heavenly strain;
And still they sang, 'Noel! Noel!'
Those drovers three. 'Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!' ♪♪♪

Here's one I like:
Silent Night
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child,
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar,
heavenly hosts sing Alleluia;
Christ the Savior is born.
Christ the Savior is born.
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace.
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

I'm back..........for 5'....
Need to go get petrol but other than that I am done!! Will get milk when I fill up and then I need to clean out the fridge....have no where to put all the shopping.........aarrghhhhhhhh...why did I forget the fridge!!! I've got to find room for the fizz!! Have got the most enormous box of fruit on our bed...for want of somewhere else to put it and the smell is just wonderful...could just sit and devour the lot! Thank heavens I can buy 'fresh' fruit and don't have to buy it in the supermarket!! Have just sampled the brandied fruit...YUM!!! The fruit is now all plumped up and it is time to mix the pudding...it says to simmer for 6 hours so I had better hop to it...
see you all later.
