I'm looking forward to this - my son and daughter-in-law are giving me a ticket to go to an Abba Tribute concert (think it's called Abba-Mania) at Jupiter's Casino on the Gold Coast. I'm taking eldest grandaughter Hayley, an avid fan, with me on 22nd January. This will be the first Nanny/Grandie thing we've done together, just the 2 of us. We'll have dinner at one of the restaurants first and if we have time I'll take her on the monorail that connects the casino with Broadbeach. However - not looking forward to the drive down there - 1 hour of heavy traffic!

Cyn, I know what you mean. I am enjoying having hubby and kids home and Mum visiting at the moment - but I am also missing my 'quiet' time. Wish I could have it all!

Well Cyn I think we may even need a Abba one hey,
Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)
Half past twelve
And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Autumn winds
Blowing outside the window as I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Movie stars
Find the end of the rainbow, with a fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
Tired of T.V.
I open the window and I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight
[ ABBA Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight...
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight...

There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Freak me out check out this song, by the Beatles.

Song Lyrics - Dizzy Miss Lizzie
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzie,
The way you rock'n'roll.
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzie,
When we do the stroll.
Come on, Miss Lizzie,
Love me 'fore I grow too old.

Come on, give me fever,
Put your little hand in mine.
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzie,
Girl, you look so fine.
You're just a-rockin' and a-rollin',
I sure do wish you were mine.

You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzie,
When you call my name.
O-o-o-o-oh baby,
Say you're driving me insane.
Come on, come on, come on, baby,
I want to be your lover man.

Run and tell your mama
I want you to be my bride.
Run and tell your brother,
Baby, don't run and hide.
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzie,
And I want to marry you.

Come on, give me fever,
Put your little hand in mine.
You make me dizzy dizzy Lizzie,
Girl, you look so fine.
You're just a-rockin' and.a-rollin',
I sure do wish you were mine.

Oooh yes, Liz - good one, thanks.
I will have an 8yo beside me, bopping her way through the concert. Hayley - the dancing queen! She got an 'Abba Sing' karaoke thingy for Christmas. Abba sure are multi-generational.

Dizzy miss Lizzie - it's not fun when it's for real (dizziness, I mean). Hope you're feeling better now.

Hi, Dizzy Lizzy and CynB! Hi to All SA7ers!

CynB, the ABBA tribute sounds fun, but I quite agree about the drive in traffic. That would make it impossible for me, as I can't drive more than about 20 minutes without falling asleep. The dr. was surprised that I drive at all.

Dizzy LIzzy, so sorry to hear about the vertigo. I know you've mentioned it before, so I'm guessing that you had the vertigo before the name. Do you take medication? Hubby had it for a week or so, but luckily no recurrence.

Hia Julie,
Yes have had it before, but according to my doctor it was 2005, but I think I have had it a couple of times, just didnt see the doc for it.
I take Stemitil for it, but then they say it has a side effect of (get ready for it) dizziness....
thought that was quite amusing.

Back again, I keep refreshing so my comments don't come at inappropriate times, then get interrupted and have to refresh again. Usually not a problem but my connection is sloooow this morning.

Cyn, great trip with your grandie!!! What a treat! I think it will be worth the awful drive.

Liz, I think that side effect is hilarious. How would you tell?

Heidi, a productive day for you...

Julie, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for you to be so limited with your driving.

Heidi, you must be exhausted - ANOTHER extremely busy day! I hope you get a good night's sleep! Also good luck with the stretching of your Achilles! I nearly had to have surgery on mine about 4-5 years ago. Had many months of physical therapy. Each time I saw the dr. he changed his mind as to surgery or no surgery. When I retired, it seemed to improve.

Suzy, you're right about the inconvenience of minimal driving! And now hubby has been having trouble with loss of feeling in his right foot. Found out he had a previously undiagnosed fracture in L4-L5 vertebra - probably from high school football. If he hadn't developed sciatica spring of 2008, we wouldn't have known. Dr. wants to fuse, but we're hesitant, as it's at least 5 hour surgery, 5 days in hospital, 2-3 months of initial home recuperation and up to a year before he's semi-normal. That, of course, impacts his driving.

Just harking back to the ongoing conversation about internet friendships - we, here on SA7, have another avenue open to us. That is Skype. I may never get to visit the US or Uk again and many of you may never get to visit Australia and if any of us do, it's never possible to go everywhere because time is limited. Yesterday, I spoke to Heidi on Skype, our connection was good, we could see one another clearly and it was amazing. I have contact details for other SA7 people whom I hope to speak to soon but I'd encourage anyone who can to give it a go and not be shy. And it doesn't cost a thing once you've got your webcam/mike set up. It's not difficult, if I can do it, anyone can.
Off my soapbox now.

Dizzy Lizzy, I'm also confused by your vertigo medicine. If a side effect is dizziness, how do you know whether it's working - and when you're having a side effect?

Julie, thank you for your kind comments on my girls art work. I'm very proud of them, but in the back of my mind I always remind myself about proud-mother syndrome ... it's nice to have someone else think they are clever. BTW, I think the talent skipped my generation, and their Dad is also very artistic.

The hard part wasn't the cleaning. The hard part was pulling it out of the shed where I stored it, and rolling it uphill, through deep mud, to the barn for cleaning. My tendon hurts. At least I'll have help tomorrow to load it onto the trailer to take it to the trainers.

I'm hoping that the hints I have been dropping, for my birthday, for a new notebook computer with built in web camera will fall on open ears. I have a skype phone but my laptop seems to have a problem with the microphone so I cannot use it.

I remember my mother taking the same vertgo meds years ago Dizzy Lizzy. Her vertigo attacks could last for days at a time.... maybe it was the side effects.

Julie, tough call with hubby. I guess it depends on the effects of not having the surgery because the cost of having it is certainly high. Sending thoughts and wishes that it can be resolved!

I had opportunities Julie. I have never been sure if my own lack of confidence or a genuine lack of skill has stood in my way, but my artistic attempts have been average at best. I do have a funny story (funny to me). I was doing an embroidery class with some young kids at my daughter's school. The kids had to draw something with an Australian theme to embroider - their works were later included on a school quilt. One child just couldn't/wouldn't draw anything so I sketched up a platypus in about 20 seconds (with 7 kids asking for my time that was all I had). From that point on the kids always told my ds what a great drawer their mother was! If you could see the platypus.......

Well I will say goodnight. Everyone is back at work/school tomorrow after two weeks off. Also have the workman coming back in the morning to start on the attic, he has to rewire lights etc up there after a squirrel got in and decided to have a meal on the wire casing, then he is going to fit more insulation and then board the whole lot out so we have more storage space!!

vertigo, "dizziness," originally "a whirling or spinning movement," is a specific type of dizziness, a major symptom of a balance disorder. It is the sensation of spinning or swaying while the body is actually stationary with respect to the surroundings.
The treatment that the doctor gave me is called Stemetil, although there is a sticker on the pack that says may cause drowsiness, if affected do not drive a vehicle, it is supposed to work by rebalancing the brain.
