Yes, I heard about the chaos on I 65, MizT. It's only 15 minutes from us. This storm is a nightmare because of all the rain, then sleet that fell first, turning it into a skating rink under all that snow. You're right. They couldn't salt first because the heavy rain would wash it off the road. I'm conserned about driving on it tomorrow (mostly on I 65). By Saturday, when I take the trailer up there, it'll be in much better shape, and warmer.
June.... maybe Sue might like to help you in the garden when she visits. That can be a treat for someone as good with flowers as she is.

Happy Friday from very snowy, cold Pa.
As is true for many in the US...snow, rain, wind, and cold continues to make life difficult, but for some, like myself...we have no place that we MUST be, and lots of time to play...I have heat, food and power...so I am just going to count my blessings this time around, and read, watch movies or nap...life can be good if I stop complaining.
Tricia..do hope the pain eases up...that kind of stuff needs to be hurried to the finish line as soon as possible...sending some extra healing vibes to help. Heidi...hope the weather eases enough for all of the desired bulls are at the show, and that you are able to find the best bull (s) possible at a good price. June, I know you really what your garden to look good when another person is also a great gardener...so I'm sending show up vibes for the person coming to help and hope he does a job that satisfies you. However, ,I agree that Sue may enjoy helping you out and will understand that with a caste on your arm,the garden was bound to be hard to maintain. Good luck in either case.
For those on FB, my grand daughter took a short video of Jazz playing in the snow today and its on my timeline. He is such a great dog, and even weakened by the many seizures and being 13 years old, he sometimes acts like a puppy.Love that fur baby.
Okay...wishing everyone well and think I should head towards bed since its almost 2a.m ..still not too sleepy thanks to my meds so I may just read awhile. Take care...Peace.

Hello everyone!! Sorry I have been missing for so long, my miserable excuse for an explanation is on Easy page 2.
Hope all is well with everybody, some of you I see on FB, but I was happy to see that Heidi is still going strong and still breeding birds and IH is still the same.
Does Nola still come here?

Yep. She was here not too long ago.
I'm leaving for the show in just over an hour. Normally it's a 55 minute drive, but I'm giving myself 3 hours so I can be super careful.

Heidi, are you taking the RV? At least if you got stuck in that, you have the comforts of home. Safe travels and good luck in finding your new bull. Hope he is as good and as gentle as the bulls you are selling for breeding stock.
June, Hope your gardening help arrives, but remember, sue is coming to visit you and will understand and overlook your problems with gardening with a cast.
JULIE, glad you at least pop in to let us know you are alive and busy. Hope your life slows down just a bit for you.
Cyn, happy to see you here, hope to see you more often. Now to check out comments on Easy.
NO ice on the sidewalks or parking lot here, I should be OK to get to doc after a bit. It is just COLD, a feels like temp of 14F, but the sun is back and if the wind would drop, should not be too bad by 10 am.
Mama, thanks for helping me cheer this pain on to the finish line. Hope to find the video of Jazz., Your plan for the snow days is sound, enjoy the naps and reading, with a glance occasionally at the snow outside.
I slept well last night, and am still sleepy now, but need to shower and dress, breakfast, then meet with Shannon to sort out the extra check deposited to my account, all before 9:30. I am usually just getting up and going by 9:30 am hehehe. I had a long nap, about 4 hours, about dark yesterday, so I should be well caught up on sleep.
I hope to check in again after pain doc appointment. Hugs to each of you, till then.

I am home. The roads were horrendous this morning,,, it took 2 hours to get up there, but by the time of the return trip, they were vastly improved. I found a bull I REALLY like. He was Reserve Grand Champion in the show, but that didn't mean much because only 3 bulls showed up. The judge judges them on how they look the day of the show, and not on their potential. I think my favorite, Duke, will be an outstanding bull when he matures.

After sliding all over the place on the ice, I finally got the trailer hooked up for tomorrow. Now I need to fire up the tractor, locate my tow strap (the chains disappeared... thank you, Gil) and get the truck and trailer unstuck. The trailer is frozen to the ground and won't budge. Unfortunately, it won't get above freezing here until noonish, and I have to leave for the sale at 8 am tomorrow.

OH Heidi, do be careful out on the ice in your barnyard, getting that trailer unstuck. Do not want you hurting the back while trying to get that done.
I made it to the pain clinic this morning with no problems. Got a bit cold of face once the wind started blowing and I was in the shade, but the sun felt so good. My black coat just soaked up the sun-rays, really good solar heat. They agreed to inject the left shoulder, but 'medicare will not let us do office visit and injection same visit' so someone will phone tomorrow with an appointment time. Hopefully next week, cause my shoulder hurts NOW, not that matters. And yet another co pay, so I think the docs welcomed this ruling by medicare. aaaaaaaaggggh.
Just spent a total of 2 hours in shannon's office today, 30 min this morning, hour and half just now, as we listened to some horrible music and the most annoying voice ever, as we were on hold for social secirity. Yep, held for an hour and a half, and no one ever answered. At 5 pm, figured they were closing for the day, so we gave up. I got the phone number, I was hoping Shannon had a more direct access number than what we are given, she has for some services, but NO.
SS will not let me access my information online, or this would have been done a couple days ago, bummer, so the phone is the only way to go. I will phone and hold Monday morning, and once I get them, if any problem, can walk down to Shannon's office (my phone phone cordless will work that far) to get her help. Two hours of her time is above and beyond the call of duty.
All this and I am trying to correct Their mistake, the 2 checks I received this month.
It has warmed some today, we got above freezing for midday hours, I actually sat outside chatting with a friend as she let her dog do her business, and enjoyed the sun. tomorrow is forecast even warmer, just hope we have sun again.
Hugs all around, with extras, till later.

I got the driveway plowed down to exposed pavement... I found my tow strap... I put the truck in neutral after hooking up the tractor to it... I put the tractor in 4WD low.... and pulled and pulled. FINALLY the trailer became unstuck... I pulled the truck's tires onto exposed pavement... and truck and trailer are ready to go in the morning. IH offered to help, but I figured I could do it easier myself, with less stress.

Look at this - 2 days in a row!
Tricia - all of that pain clinic stuff you went through is ridiculous. If you have shoulder pain today - it should be dealt with today. I'm appalled! The waiting for SS to answer your call is universal though, the more important the call, the longer the wait, it seems! Hope it's all sorted soon.
Heidi, glad you got the truck moved safely in those icy conditions.

I'm off in a few to go to the Red Angus sale. I WILL be bringing Duke home. That's why IH is not allowed to come along. I can't stand his tantrums when I spend money, especially when I spend more than he thinks I should. And I made a reputation at this sale 8 years ago, when I told a couple of people that I WOULD be Rede's new owner. The bidding had the crowd stunned. I still hold the record there for the most money ever paid for a Red Angus. But Rede has been worth far more to me than I paid for him, with 7 years of the best calves I've ever had. I don't look at the actual price, but what the bull can do for my herd, and how much he can earn for me in the future.

I'm home, and got Duke. But I had a battle royale to get him. I didn't know that this auction was being held on the internet as well, and buyers from all over the country were bidding. Several of the heifers went for astronomical prices (heifers sold first) and that clued me in fast. Duke went the highest of the bulls, but nowhere as high as those heifers.
My truck and trailer are hung up on the ice in front of the feedlot where we have the bulls. But the ice is melting fast, and I should be able to move it by this evening. Tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

MizT... The Fairgrounds where you load and unload cattle is a very cramped area where you can get blocked or parked in easily. I wouldn't want to even think about trying to maneuver the RV with a trailer on it ib that chaos. And getting it out of the driveway this morning would have been a bigger nightmare than I had. It took me a half hour to get the truck and trailer out, and we had to use the big tractor pushing from behind. I was OK once I got on the road.

I got the truck and trailer unstuck finally. What a day!!! But that should be the last bad storm of the winter.
I have a 5 lb corned beef cooking for supper, so there should be LOTS of leftovers. I think I like leftover corned beef more than freshly cooked. In a little while, I'll toss in the cabbage, and then angelfood cake with whipped cream and strawberries for dessert. That'll make up for my battle with the ice today.

What a day you had, Heidi. you deserve a great dinner to make up for it. Hope you enjoyed the corned beef and cabbage. I had strawberries tonight, no cake and whipped cream, I forgot to buy cool whip to go with, but got the strawberries for 99 cents a pound. I bought 2, which is about what I can eat (small servings on my eating plan) before they go bad.
Tanya and I came in from grocery, put away cold things, then out again for lunch out. Had to walk further than I wanted to find a parking place, but had a nice Chinese dinner. Shrimp and broccoli for me, and brought home enough in my 'to go' box that I had a repeat for dinner, with strawberries for desert, yummy, two of my favorite things.
Even though I had a nice nap after I got home, I am ready for bed early. Breast pain still here, it should be getting better by now, no idea what is causing this. If it is not gone completely by N=Monday I shall phone doctor. I also hope to get a call about appointment for the shoulder injection on Monday. A busy phone day it seems.
I have 2 orders 'in route' from new York, one of them is listed as 'delayed' and will have a new expected day of delivery posted soon. I imagine it is stuck in the snow somewhere, I hope it is in the facility or a truck ready to leave facility, but held because of snow. I do hope it is not in a truck involved in one of the many multi-vehicle pile ups from the snow and ice between here and new York.
Heidi, I am glad you got the bull you wanted, and hope it was not too much above what you had intended to pay. Will the other bidders be remembering you for this bid too?
CynB, I never did get to the easy, page 2 post you referred to the other day. I guess I should look back, but have forgotten what day.
June, I hope you are enjoying your time with Laura. I know you wish for more time with her. Is it just she has such a busy schedule now as she gets older and involved with more after school and holiday things, or do you think her father is not cooperating in getting her to visit you more often? Enjoy what time you have, it is more precious for being less frequent than you want.
Need to get off this computer, and heat my rice sock once again for shoulder and breast area. Pain meds are reducing the pain, that is good, but not getting rid of it, not so good, so I am trying all the not medicine things I can think of to help. .
Hugs to each of you, with extra.

Happy Sunday from my home to yours.
Just posting to say all is well. Weather is on the upward move as far as temps are concerned and we have beautiful sunshine to help perhaps rid us of some of the snow piles, or at lease reduce the size of them. I am feeling pretty darn good and able to get some things done that I had put off. A sense of accomplishment makes for a bright day.
Cynthia...good that you found the problem that was keeping you away from posting and great to have you in the fold again.
Heidi...so happy to read that you got the bull you wanted. You are so right about the long time value versus the initial cost being more important. Good stock that a breeding produces certainly enhances one's reputation and allows for greater income in the long run...Good for you.
Julie, I do hope you find time to read, but know that sometimes you just have to jump in where you are, and that becomes the new starting point for you.
June, I know its hard not getting to spend more time with Laura...but do hope that you all have a great time when you do manage to be together...those are the fun memories that help to sustain you as the young ones learn to grow away from us. That after all is our responsibility...teaching the young how to become independent...but its so darn hard.
Tricia...hope all of that pain is soon under control...knowing you however, I rest assured that you are doing all you can to minimize the toll. Hopefully you can reduce the other stress of trying to do business with the phones going unanswered for such long periods of time. That only adds to your pain discomfort I imagine...I know it would add to mine.
I lost a long post regarding not being able to see what is being typed in my post. It looks like trying to type or copy something and running low on ink or toner...however, its clear when it post. This is making it rather difficult to spot errors or incomplete thoughts..any suggestions will be helpful, but did want you to know that's a problem for me.
I'm off to see what the world has to offer now...hope to see you all doing well and pain free, comfortably ensconced in places that bring you joy and able to share it with those you love. Peace.

Daylight savings time starts now. I have set all clocks except my computer clock, I must trick it again, as it still changes time on the OLD start of daylight savings time, three weeks from now. Know how to do it, just need to remember to reset it.
Cindy, I did at last get back to the easy post you referenced earlier. I too have had that same problem, not getting the 'from' part of my address correct when trying to sign in. when my BIL worked on my computer, he signed me out and lost my link to here. It took me a while to figure out what I was doing wrong, just same as you. Did you get that DUH feeling once you saw what the difference was? I know I did hehehe. So glad you are back with us, hope you can check in often, we have missed you here.
Today is spring, temps are 67 degrees here at 11:30 am. Sunny, lovely blue skies, I need to get outside for a while today. A resident gave us a blooming azalea she received for Valentines day. she insists it needs more dirt, so I shall put it in a larger pot. I think the problem she had was watering it and letting it sit in water to long. It is in a ugly florists pot, set into a decorative tin pot, the florist pot drains, the decorative pot does not. I have let it dry out some, set it in my window in the sun and it looks good to me. But because she asks me every time she sees me if I have put it into more dirt, even though I told her I cannot lift anything as heavy as that 25 pound bag of potting soil, I guess I should go do it. Perhaps I can find a way to get dirt into pot without lifting.
I also bought some Asiatic lilies bulbs, they need to go into a huge pot, since I cannot dig in this hard as a rock dirt in out garden area. I have a pot ready to add new plants, so I can dig those into that easily. Later I will over plant with some annuals to share the space, because lilies do not bloom for long, but so pretty when they do bloom! A good excuse to be out in the sun today
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

IH surprised me. He found out how much I paid for Duke and he DIDN'T throw a fit! He agreed that Duke is worth every penny I paid. We just ran Duke through the chute for the first time. He had developed a little infection where his ring was put in his nose (a requirement for grown bulls for the show ring...it makes then easier to control with a lead rope attached to the ring.) and I needed to treat it with topical antibiotic. He was kinda scared at first, not knowing our farm, our routines, or us, but he calmed down quickly once we got him in the head catch and I rubbed his forehead and scritched him behind the ears for about 10 minutes. Once he discovered that THAT was the worst that was going to happen to him, he seemed quite happy. The more I look at him, the more I'm sure I chose the right bull. Especially when I looked at him and Rede side by side. Rede has a looooong body (that's where the most expensive cuts of meat are.) and Duke looks like a smaller version of him. The bull that won Grand Champion had too short a back for my tastes, and was tall in proportion to length. The bull that came in 3rd place was between the two in build. I've always maintained that nobody eats those lower legs, so they are less important economically. The bottom line with beef cattle is the beef.

My login problem shouldn't happen anymore. I have kept a note of my log in details - exact login name, from address and password - in my secret little file kept in a secret little place. I hate being of an age where my brain won't store and hold information as it used to do. Ah well, it's better than never getting to this age.
It seems from what I'm seeing that things may be warming up a bit in the northern hemisphere - hope it stays that way - and that it cools down here, we've had an awfully hot summer.

Had a lovely day with Laura on Sunday. We went to Belinda's and Laura played with the dogs. Laura is in the Gang Show (scouts/cubs etc) again this year and has practice every Saturday night till the concert in July. We will be able to have her again in the school holidays (Easter)
The men turned up to do the garden. So much grass weeds etc was removed. They also cleared out where I dumped all the bits and pieces, like black tubing for making a watering system, until we had restrictions and were not allowed to use it. Lots of old pots etc. All that is on the lawn so I have quite a bit of clearing up to do.
I can also go and buy some flowers to put in the cleared garden beds.

Well THAT was eventful! I went out to feed hay to all the cattle and horses, and couldn't approach the tractor.
An obviously sick skunk was guarding it and I couldn't get near without being sprayed. So I went back into the house, got my gun, and shot it from a good distance away. THEN I got into the tractor, took off the bucket (from plowing), put on the hay spear and fed everybody on the dryest ground I could find.

Hello Friends, greetings from an overcast but very warm Alabama.
I phoned the surgeon today, he is not surprised I am still having pain. I described two different kinds of pain, one through from incision to bottom side of breast, the other more skin deep from incision to under arm. This second one he believes is nerves that were damaged, traumatized, now waking up. the other is just because the incision was so deep into breast.
Both can continue for another 2 weeks, but I should begin to feel less as time passes. If it does not lessen, or hangs on longer, then call to come in for him to take a look, or anytime I think this is more than it should be. He was so kind, listening attentively, explaining fully, and he came on the line within 3 minuets of his nurse saying 'Hold Please'. I do like him. He did say heat might help, that is good, I have been using it since I figured out I always felt my best after a nice warm shower, and he OKed the use of a topical anti-inflammatory I have used a couple of times. Just do not put on the area of incision.
Received a nice bouquet of flowers today, from the lady who brings small bouquets on Mondays quite often. Mine has half a dozen pink or white roses and some greenery with pink berries or small white flowers, very pretty.
I got social security on the phone, shhhh, do not post on FB, but that extra check is mine. I got a raise as widows benefits when my Ex died. Shannon and I have not figured out all the things that will change, but the government gives with one hand and takes away with the other. I will loose some benefits I had because now my income will be too high. My rent here will increase considerably. I do think when dust settles I will have a few more coins than now, but not near what it appears at the moment. The increase will be very nice.
We can do nothing more until SS sends me the official notification letter. They still had old address, so perhaps I will get it now that we changed that with them.
Still have not heard from pain clinic, I phoned, left a message, no one has returned call, bummer. It is so different from one office to another, how quickly they handle phone calls.
My house smells good, I am baking a chicken. I had previously bought a baked chicken at Wal Mart, until the chickens for $5 look more like a pigeon, so tiny. They sell a family sized one for $10. I got a family sized uncooked bird for $5.50, and put it into the oven for 30 minuets, and have my own baked chicken a LOT cheaper. My house smells good!
June, I am glad that being busy with activities is what keeps you from having Laura more than you do. That seems like a LOT of practice, March till July, every week. It must be very involved production to take that long. I hope she is enjoying it.
Broni, I am counting the days with you, hope they go smoothly and then you can easily take care of 'all the things to do' before you leave. Will you be traveling in your new camper, the one you showed

Good morning all,
Secret list of secret passwords - I wish, like Heidi, I had started that list years ago but in those days I believed I was invincible, my memory was great. Not so! Yesterday I tried to get into eBay for the first time in over a year. Could not get in, had to wait for Col to come home. He couldn't get in either. Eventually we sorted that out, only to be met with the same problem with PayPal for the same reason. Still to sort that out!
