I'm back from the dentist's. She took one look at the sheared off tooth stub, and at the x-ray, and told me I needed a root canal ASAP. So I told her to have at it, I was going to sleep. I slept for 3 hours. The other patients in there supposedly were laughing at my loud snoring. They told the dentist that my root canal couldn't be all that painful if I snored my way through it. That's one reason I like having a great dentist. I like painless.

Wonderful weather again today. I sat outside a bit, waiting for the bus to take and then to pick me up after doctor's appointment. Bright blue skies without a cloud in sight, a nice breeze, very low humidity (thus the blue skies) and a breeze, perfect day. I would take another 2 months of days just like today, please.
doc was rheumatologist. I had been trying for almost 2 weeks to get a formulary exception from insurance. that is when they will cover a drug not usually covered. for me, I needed brand name instead f generic, this med was doing a big bad number on my tummy. Call the insurance, have to identify myself with ID number, address and phone number every time, an one day I phoned 3 times, told the customer representative the third time it had not changed in the last 10 minuets hehehe, but still had to give it again. Wait till they can call around to see if the fax from doctor arrived at any place it could have landed, nope, they did not receive it. Call the doc, they want name and birthday, and what was the medicine again? Oh we faxed that on the 6th. But since they did not receive it could you fax it again?
At last, at 1 pm yesterday it was approved, but noone bothered to tel me it had been. yep, another phone call this morning with ID, address, phone number and my grandmother's maiden name to make sure they were really taking to me before they said, YES, it was approved yesterday. Call the pharmacy to see if they can send it out, using the OLD prescription. NOPE, need a new one, saying brand name only. Cut this long story from being longer, I still do not have the med, it should be delivered tomorrow, yeah, at last.
then rheumatologist today gave me a new med for sleeping, but before I use it might be best to call pain management to let them know, It is not a pain medication, but it is a controlled substance, so here we go again. I phoned, but of course they did not return my call. don't pay any attention to the blurb on the recording that says phone messages left before 3 pm will be returned same day, it did not happen. Pharmacy will pick up the paper script tomorrow, and I should have that med by Friday. I hope I hear from pain management before then, AAAAGGH.
I did have one pleasant surprise. I filled out a request for return on an item from Amazon, they said they would immediately refund my purchase price and I DID NOT HAVE TO RETURN THE ITEM. postage was almost as much as the item cost, it was a free returns item, so they did not want it back. Now to find someone smaller than I am who can wear a one size fits all sleep shirt, bright red.
I am so sleepy, it is not yet bed time, I know if I go to sleep now I will be awake in the wee hours, so trying to keep myself awake. But too many typos to continue typing, I counted 6 in two lines of type last paragraph hehehe. If any sneak through, you will know why. So sleepy I cannot remember what I read, but read I did, and thought of you. Hugs to each of you with extras.

No pits. My dentist says the tooth had already been broken when I took that bite of jello. It was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Greetings!
Heidi, you have a wonderful dentist to take care of your root canal right away. The bonus is your 3-hour nap! I hope you will now have a long delay before any further need to see your dentist. Also hoping there will be no residual pain! Oh, and I like your TOPP!
MizT, I'm glad the weather has been delightful, especially since you've been having to deal with so much run-around to get the medications prescribed for you! Crossing fingers that all will be straightened out by the end of the week!

Oh what a beautiful day today! I have opened windows, and it is wonderful. My house gets to air out, a closed up house just does not smell fresh, the very low humidity and the breeze and the sunshine take care of that problem.
I need to go outside and enjoy. It is time to water everything, they need a good drink, even the in ground garden. I wanted to go buy some other plants, but can not work it in today. Not that much happening, just not enough time between the few things I have scheduled to make the trip. Tanya will be over in less than an hour to drop off our lunch, while she is doing her volunteer job.

Just heard from IH. He had told me that he was coming home late tomorrow night. Now he says he'll be home around noon tomorrow. I had so been looking forward to a nice week home by myself, and what happens? A root canal. I ended up sleeping through most of the week because of it. And now he'll be back in 12 hours.

MizT, so glad you are having a wonderful day and can enjoy the clean outside air. All you need is a few more hours.
Heidi, wonderful news for Miss Kitty! Celebrate the good news. So sorry IH will be home earlier than expected. At least you had the root canal and your mouth should be feeling better. Just a crazy question here: is your ear infection on the same side as the broken tooth? Could there be a connection?
Heading off to bed. Hubby will be up at 4:30, so I'll be getting up with him. Good Night to everyone! Sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, positive thoughts, prayers, and

Very eventful afternoon at Scrabble with Mary and Judy. First, Lyn was not feeling well enough to come down. Then Judy came in, said she had been at the clinic that morning, and had a cat scan. We found out later that it seems there had been a blood clot in August when she went to ER, just now following up with her primary care physician, and cat scan today confirmed it was still there. I was not happy to hear that there had been such a delay.
Her doctor phoned Judy while we were playing scrabble, but at first we had no idea who she was talking to. Judy suddenly said into phone, please talk to my friend Tricia, she is a nurse, and handed me the phone. Doc identifies herself, and asks who I am. that out of the way, she speaks briefly with Judy again, I am sure to clarify that Judy wants her to share medical information with me. Judy has a blood clot in a very dangerous place, movement could be fatal, and they need to decide on a treatment option. I had to explain the options to Judy, There is good and bad with either option, and at last she seemed to understand. Doc suggested they put her in hospital for at least one day, to first decide on which of the two available medical treatment options, then to start her on the drugs, and teach her about them. So then we had to find a way to get Judy to the hospital, she does not drive. Mary could drive if hospital phoned before dark, but as it got closer and closer to dark and no word from hospital, we had to find other options. Last resort was to put her in a cab, and services coordinator here would reply me for her cab fare later, but one of our residents who has known Judy for a long time said he would take her any time, if it was after his bedtime, he would get up and put on his pants and go hehehe.
We stayed with her downstairs, after she packed her bag, understandably she did not want to be by herself. About 7:30 pm, we decided it was getting late, we should just go to our apartments, it was past my medication time, and past dinner time for all of us. I got home and immediately got a phone call from Mary. The hospital phoned while she and Judy were in the elevator going up to her apartment. If we had known that was all it would take to get them to phone, could have done that much earlier hehehe.
So today she is in hospital and receiving treatment, doc to make decision about more invasive treatment option later today. Whew, if you followed all of that, thanks for reading and you might understand why I was one big ache once I got home. Did not sleep till the wee hours, but all is better today, and I am glad.

I just have very little energy and have done nothing but the basics and watch a tad of Tv and reading...sure hope to catch up to my energy supply soon...this too is a real bummer. Mama is correct, being bored is not fun long term. Once, as a busy single working Mom, I thought how wonderful it would be to just be able to stay in bed all day. I fell rollerskating with daughter, and was put to bed for 6 weeks. I had fractured my pubic bone, nothing but bed rest and time would heal it. I was allowed up twice a day to soak in a hot tub. It was late February and beginning to get almost warm mid day. I did my tub soaks at 10 am and 2 pm. and spent the 4 hours inbetween out on the deck. Two hours in a lounge chair, two hours on my tummy on a cot. Blanket to pull over myself if the sun went behind a cloud. First week I was in bed totally, pain meds, so that went by fairly quickly. the remaining 5 weeks were boring as all holy heck. I crocheted 2 baby blankets, a project my neighbor did not have time to complete, read tons of books, watched daytime TV, family and neighbors brought in dinner for Tanya and me, did my grocery shopping and laundry, and tried to help entertain me with visits. I went back to work the end of March with the best suntan I had ever had. Never again wished to be able to just stay in bed all day, cured me of that wish quickly. As Mama said, be careful what you wish for, you might get it!
Judy is home, they decided to do the old fashioned, inexpensive heparin, first an IV drip, then at home a week of injections just under the skin. she will also be taking coumadin, another old and inexpensive medication that insurance pays for almost totally. these medications are reversible, if for any reason she has a bleed, from a fall and a cut, or a bleeding ulcer or whatever, they can give a medication that will reverse the blood thinning properties. the newer, easier to take more expensive oral medication is unfortunately not reversible, if you had a bleed, you would just bleed, and perhaps bleed out if it was not discovered and stopped some way. also, insurance would not pay for that, without the hassle of getting a formulary exception, and you know from an earlier post of mine how difficult that can be.
Judy was offered home health nurse to come out, and she told them at hospital she had someone to do this for her, meaning me. she never asked me if I could do the injections, and I had much rather home health nurse come out and do it, as I no longer carry malpractice insurance. Shannon, the service coordinator here, had arranged for home health, but when Judy said she had someone, doc did not order home health. This afternoon, Friday late, 4 pm, when everyone was trying to leave early for the weekend, they were scrambling to get that order in place and someone out tomorrow. IF they do not make it tomorrow, I will have to go and either help her give her own injection or do it for her. Bummer. Luckily she only gets one week of injections, until the oral medication is at a therapeutic level in her blood.
We got her request for transportation filled out and turned in, request for transport first thing Monday, tu

Good Evening, Everyone!
Oops, MizT. It seems your post ran over a bit. Judy is very fortunate that she can rely on you to explain things, but it seems she has overstepped your friendship in expecting you to do her heparin injections. I hope everything got sorted out - very difficult to get done on a Friday late afternoon. Remember to take care of yourself during all this excitement!
Mama, I hope you are feeling well and getting everything you need to stay as healthy as possible!
Heidi, I hope the tooth is feeling better and the ear infection is improving! Take care. I wish you could have a week of relaxation and no interruptions, etc. from you-know-who!

MizT, my Mum had a large clot in the middle of her heart when she was eighty. It was treated with Warfarin (Coumadin) and it completely dissolved the clot. Mum lived for another 5 years. The specialist put the Xrays and treatment of her clot in a medical magazine. I do hope Judy will be OK.

I've been bedridden long term from broken legs, back and major surgery. I always have something to do: books, DVDs, sudoku books or the old reliable sleep. Or just thinking. Sometimes I think up stories. There's ALWAYS something to do. Even after 3-4 months in bed.
I'm off to get a new freezer. Over a week ago, we stopped at Lowe's and bought a new one to be delivered yesterday. The day before, they called IH and told him the one on order hadn't come in, so they were going to deliver the floor display model. When I heard that, I hit the roof. I'd seen the floor display model, and it was brokem. I refused delivery on it, and they'll be refunding our money. So I'm going elsewhere for one. Sam's Club has one the same size for less money, but they don't have free delivery. I'm about to call them and make sure they have a good one in stock, then head out there with a trailer.

Well, we have a new freezer. It's an 18 cubic foot Westinghouse upright. The Lowe's we first dealt with gave us our money back from the freezer we didn't get, then they gave us an amazing discount ($160.oo off!!!) on a more expensive one that we liked better, but hadn't thought we could afford. We brought it home in my livestock trailer, and it's up and running now. We have a lamb to be picked up at the processor on Monday, and then the cow to be picked up a week from today. THIS freezer should hold 2 cows.

Julie, I answered your questions on my page under the photos. The animals on Galapagos are not afraid of the visitors and ignore you completely. The marine iguanas are sunning themselves (to get warm after being in the cold water) on the paths and everywhere. You just step over them. The sea lions near where we got on the boat have taken over all the park benches and I have a photo of one mother spread out on a bench and the calf reaching p to suckle.
The photos I posted today are from Ken's camera.

My BIL has left town on another 'brother's trip'. I will be going to spend a couple of nights with my sis. She said it is very lonely there with him away. Tomorrow we are going to go back to the DMV and see if we can correct the mistake they made on my car tag. I discovered they entered my car as being a 2015, not a 2005, and I paid at the much higher rate. I felt certain last week that I had paid too much, but could not read the tiny print on the form while there. At home with good light and a magnifying glass I saw the error. Wish us a short line and an understanding clerk for tomorrow. I hope to get a refund of over 66% of the total bill.
We are going out to eat BBQ at a famous BBQ shack not far from sister's house, and then go shopping, plus take a ride north of her house to view the fall foliage. Although only 30 miles or so north of me, they have had a light frost already. It does bring out the color in the leaves.
I bought my groceries today, put them away, made a huge pot of soup, too big to fit it all into my 6 quart pressure cooker. I had the first bowl tonight, yummy. I have packaged a lot of it for freezing. Cooked, packaged and froze my sweet potatoes from Pepper Place shopping on Saturday. Cooked a spaghetti squash, too. If I had known I would not be home for a couple days, could have saved the squash to cook later. No wonder I am tired tonight. OH, cleaned the kitchen floor, too, after cooking, it needed it. Took out all the trash, learned from last time, that can be done the night before hehehe.
I hope we can do some thrift store shopping. I am looking for a winter hat, and do not like the prices of the new ones. Also looking for scarves and shawls, sometimes can find those at a great price at thrift shops. I have one scarf I found at local thrift store, it goes with so many things, and was very inexpensive when I bought it. I do not like the way I look in a 'beanie' or toboggan, I need a hat with a brim or a bill on it. A resident here who has a huge collection of hats and caps, in many types of fabrics and many different colors said she got most of hers at thrift stores. Wish me luck.
So if I am not here till sometime Wednesday (it is Sunday night now at my local) you know where I am. Take care everyone, see you in a few days.
We are not going to visit with my baby sister, in Georgia, because her grandchildren and daughter and sil all have hand, foot and mouth disease. It is highly contagious and they were with them before they showed signs, but were contagious. Will not take a chance of getting that.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Glad to hear something is finally going right for you Heidi. Enjoy your few days away MizT. Mamacita hope all is staying good with you - I agree it is a bummer when you don't have the energy to do what you want. Wish we all had energy like Julie's. Photos are lovely June - Laura is a lucky little girl to have you as her gran. Love the sound of your bucket list. All going ok here - very slow to recover from this last op and seeing surgeon again in Dec to make arrangements for the next op and then I will be waterproof at last. Can't wait to go swimming - one thing I have missed over the last 5 years. Hubby and No 3 son off to China again in a few weeks - will be nice and quiet at the Office and home - looking forward to not having someone check on me all of the time. No 2 son off to Bsngkok next week - he is having dental work done as well as a holiday. No 1 son just moved back into our area so it will be lovely to see him more often. Our movie nights will be starting again - I really look forward to them. We watch shows like Game of Thrones etc. have takeaway and usually have 'extras' join us. They are fun nights. Hubby won't have anything on Tv that has swearing etc in it so this is when I get to see more 'modern' shows. Also downloaded on my Ipad. Put in a new birdfeeder outside our bedroom window upstairs - enjoy watching the galahs, crimson parrots and cockatoos. Keeping an eye on the cockies though - last time they were feeding here we went away for the weekend and they destroyed the top edge of our balcony and the bathroom window - they really can be naughty! Had a scare on Monday with Truman - arrived home to find him paralysed from halfway down his back. Grabbed the doggie stretcher and we took him to the vet who wanted to put him to sleep. Said not an option yet and by the morning he was up and walking again - has been fine since. Don't know what it was but I think it may have been a red-backed spider bite - we have plenty of them this year and they really are nasty little critters. Hope all keep well, cheers.

Greetings friends. I am home again, it is now Thursday morning, and I did a lot of sleeping after arriving home yesterday afternoon. I had a wonderful time on my trip. Will give details below, read or scroll on by, I'll never know.
Monday sister arrived here later than she thought, doctor appointment had a bit of a wait, which is unusual when she was only going for an injection. She gets twice yearly injections for bone loss, cannot tolerate the oral meds. It was past her lunch time, she gets cranky if she does not eat on time, so instead of going out to eat, and another wait, I warmed up soup I had made and we ate here. then off to the DMV. I ignored the long line for people getting tags, and walked into the office. A person in line was making verbal objections about me walking in, but a clerk saw me with tag in hand, and I asked who I needed to see about a mistake. she called me over to her window, I showed her the paperwork saying my car was a 2005, but was entered as a 2015, she took it and invited me to have a seat in a chair across the way. Less than twenty minuets later I was again called to the window, they had the corrected form and my check for the refund, yeah! Could not have gone better, I said thank you and left.
We headed toward my sister's house, stopped at a thrift store. I found a lovely dusty rose Pashmina scarf, with other colors woven in, liked it very much, and the price was right. No hats, though. it was too early for dinner, so we continued to her house and got settled in, sat in her living room and watched the birds at her feeders. they have several acres, and feed the birds the GOOD bird food, attract many. They even have migrants who drop in and sometimes stay for a week or two enjoying the feast before continuing to their winter homes. Always fun to bird watch from her living room.
Dinner was at the BBQ shack. they serve way too much food, so we brought home enough meat for another meal. Enjoyed that meal, and Edna saw several people she knew who stopped by to say hello.
We talked about what destination for our road trip north on Tuesday to look at the fall color. She picked Florence Alabama, about an hour and half north. We figured we could have lunch and look about the town before returning home. Hummm, Florence is not far from our friend Sylvia, who lives about 45 minuets north, just into Tennessee. Edna found Sylvia online, asked if she and her husband could drive down to have lunch with us. Took only a few minuets for him to agree to drive her down, but we did not really expect him to join us for lunch. To our surprise, he did, the four of us had a great time chatting and eating at the Olive Garden, I had a nice soup and salad, the rest had heavier pasta dishes. I do not eat pasta, too many carbs for my eating plan, but had a sample of sister's lasagna, mostly sauce and cheese. Then Sylvia and Jud insisted we have desert with them, oh my. Got more than my allotted share of carbs, but the chocolate w

Got more than my allotted share of carbs, but the chocolate was worth it hehehe. Sis and I shared one slice, it was far too rich to eat the entire thing.
After we ate, I asked Jud if he knew of a place near the water we could sit and chat a while. We were just a couple miles from the Wheeler Dam and lake behind it, I knew cause we crossed the bridge just fore we got to the restaurant. Jud is an avid bird watcher, and they frequented the area often for bird watching, figured he would know. I did not want to be that close to such a large body of water and only see it crossing the bridge hehehe. He said indeed he did, and we all went in their larger vehicle for the short ride. We crossed over the top of the dam, and around to a parking lot that is now fenced off for security of the dam, but they left a tiny trail outside the fence along the river cliffs, to two picnic tables and a lovely overlook of the dam, seeing both the lake above and the river below. Jud always has his bird watching optics with him, brought out 2 pair of binoculars and he and Edna started bird watching, Sylvia and I got caught up on conversation. The weather was perfect, sunny, just barely warm enough, the sun at out back so we had a lovely view of the water. I looked up at the lake and there seemed to be this tiny boat that was higher than it was wide. Borrowed the binoculars, it was a tug boat pushing up a loaded barge. Jud was interested in birds up on a tower, so he got his scope from the car, he and Edna identified the 4 birds using this as a perch to check out a very wide area of the river. That done, he found and focused on the tug, that had been traveling away from us, up the lake. That scope was so powerful I could see the people walking on deck of the tug, and check out the barge, it was carrying what looked like gravel, piled high on the barge. Lots of fun. I also got a peek at the birds across the river, water birds, some wading, fishing, others just resting on the rocks.
It was getting into late afternoon, we had an hour and half drive back home and did not want to arrive after dark, so it was time to leave. Jud drove around 'the long way back' showing Edna several other good birding and hiking areas, since she and her husband had not been up there on a day trip for birding. So after about 2 and a half hours of the overlook and touring the area, we arrived back at the parking lot of the restaurant to get out car and start home. We took a while saying our good byes, and our waitress came out at end of her shift. She saw us in the parking lot and stopped, 'You are not still here? You could have stayed at the table to talk, you did not have to stand in the parking lot.' We assured her we had been touring the area in one vehicle, and were just back to claim the other vehicle hehehe.

After the huge lunch, we did not think we ever wanted to eat again, but after the walking along the river and all the fresh air, then the trip home, we arrived tired, in need of the facilities and hungry. It was hard to decide what first, the necessary room, our recliners or food hehehe, but we figured it out. A wonderful day, I had not hurt from the traveling and the walking, was just a good kind of tired.
Well, I was gone three days, so I suppose three posts is not excessive hehehe. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Happy Thursday all,
What a treat, a great, newsy post from Midge and three interesting posts from Tricia...both of the ladies had such bright things to write about and they made for fun reading...however, I heard poor Heidi's wail among them and feel so sorry that these things come in such clumps that they make you so miserably uncomfortable. I do hope things get better soon.
My dental treatment has started off in a very positive manner. One tooth extracted yesterday with no pain...pressure, yes...but it was painless. A temp crown was inserted and again, no pain....yea!!! Now I will continue to heal completely and have the new crown permanently inserted....Today...eye exam and discussion of some eye problems with the hopes of equally good news.
Off to play a couple of games before I must leave and then return to wash some clothes...first time doing something much needed in a while....hehe. Turn a good day into a better one for others and please....include the effort into doing the best for yourselves...You are all worth it. Peace.

Congrats on the DMV visit, MizT. It just goes to show that there are still few intelligent and competent people out there.
I'm cleaning up brush that was cut down in the yard, and loading it onto my 16 ft trailer. There looks like the brush will total 4 loads on the trailer. I need several naps while loading up each trailer full. But I need to get this first load off asap, 'cause we need the trailer tomorrow for moving a load of freshly square baled hay.
Tomorrow evening is the funeral for a 94 year old friend. Archie was loved by everyone who knew him.

THAT worked well. As I finished unloading branches from the trailer, Gil & helper drove up. They needed the trailer to move 350 bales of hay off the field. All the hay should be in barns before the rain on Saturday.

The guys got ~200 bales moved yesterday, and they're moving the other 175 now. IH asked me if I wanted to help, and I asked him if he wanted me in the hospital long term.
