I sent a post the other day addressing the trouble getting to the site and suggested changing the page about the end of the year...new year new page and some other stuff that I can no longer remember, but don't see it anywhere...now think I may have accidently deleted it...sigh.
It most likely had to do with the post that are posted since not too much is going on that needs to be added to for now....Not too much longer Nola before you leave for the states again...safe travels. Heidi, happy to hear of improvement in your pain level but scary about the drug reaction...good you had the list and reacted quickly... please take care...I'm good and life goes on...just hope that love will finally overwhelm the current explosion of hatred and violence mbeing seen. Take care all. Peace.

Hello, Friends!
Heidi, I am also happy to hear that you have had some relief from the shoulder pain - and that your doctor had the good sense to share the list of side effects and their severity with you! Hopefully, as all of the drugs leave your system, the pain does not return to its previous level! Take care.
Great suggestion, Mama. (Interestingly, I was able to get to this page on the first try both last night and tonight. Maybe it's because I am trying to get to the page a bit earlier than usual?)
Nola, I hope your preparations for your trip are going smoothly and all goes well in your travels!
Mama, I must also agree with your thoughts on the explosion of hatred and violence currently being seen. I am afraid some of what we are seeing in the U.S. is fanned by the fanaticism of some of the contenders for presidential nomination. The world has become a very scary place. Those of us who pray may need to step up our efforts.
Off to bed soon for another early alarm. We will be volunteering for a charity called Empty Bowls, which seeks to earn money to provide food to area food pantries.
Here is today's supply of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, positive thoughts,
, and healing energy for Everyone!

My pharmacist shared the list of side effects and their severity, not the doctor. GREAT pharmacist!!!
The shoulder still hurts, but not as much as before. I still need to get hold of my GP for a follow-up, but she won't be back in town until Monday. Then we'll try something else for the shoulder.

Julie, yes, it is my back that keeps me from wrapping gifts or any work/activity for long at a time. Sometimes from just standing my lower back and hip complain, sometimes shoulders and neck from using arms, so even sitting to do work is not always an improvement, but many times just sitting down and resting for a bit might let me get back to it.
Heidi, how scary to have two such serious reactions to the medication. You should let your doc know what happened, if you have not already. Hopefully you had taken enough to do the shoulder some good. The numbness (and swelling?) of your tongue is not a good think to have.
I worked again Friday helping decorate downstairs. I designed one tree we had, it was given to us last year with live flowers on it, so there was no tradition. Tradition, what we had last year, is very important here at EP, especially for the long term (older) residents. Had to just use things we had, Jan had put a big bow on top, in lime green and red, very modern patterns. I found a bag of ornaments, mostly red and green, sized from giant 5 inch diameter, to regular sized to small ornaments. There were some picks of red flowers and berries, those were stuck in too. Then I found more bows like the one on top, which were not being used, took them apart to use as garland wrapped around the tree. This was a make do, scrounge up year, no money in budget for decorations, cause they are still paying for the new last year elevator. I donated my left over ornament hooks, 2 strings of lights, and a wreath I used on my door every year till this one. It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas here.
This morning Tanya came in, with her eyes all red, stating she came with no shower, not even teeth brushed. NOT something Tanya would do normally. she was very upset about something, but could not even tell me for a while. She got a bottle of water and sat on the sofa, then apologized for arriving as she was. She got her toothbrush out of her purse, borrowed some toothpaste, brushed teeth and washed her face.
At last she told me what had upset her. She was sound asleep later than usual this morning. because of medication she sleeps very soundly. She was awakened by a very loud noise. As she came awake she heard a woman screaming, two males cursing, things hitting the walls. Said it sounded like 2 males fighting, near beating each other to death. she could even hear the blows, plus furniture breaking. She said it seemed to be a fight over the woman, she was cheating on the one who just came home, the one who thought they had an exclusive arrangement, and got caught in bed with another man.
Tanya was white as a sheet, said she was dressed and into her car leaving before she saw police come speeding down her street. She was not going home anytime soon either, she said. So we went shopping. A bit of retail therapy seemed to settle her nerves a bit. It was after lunch time before she went home.

Greetings!
Heidi, I agree with MizT that your doc needs to know of your reactions to the medication. Thank goodness for the PHARMACIST! That's one smart pharmacist to let you know of possible reactions and their degree of severity!
MzTt, how frightening for Tanya to have to witness via her ears the horrible fight going on next door to her. It was wise to promptly remove herself and reassuring that police responded quickly. In this day and age with the proliferation of gun ownership, who knows how quickly the fight might have escalated, and apartment walls are notoriously thin. (Years ago when we were still newlyweds, we had neighbors that verbally fought OFTEN. I don't think we ever heard physical altercation. But one time, someone apparently called police. When looking out the peephole of our door, we saw police running by to the adjacent apartment with guns raised. We quickly moved to the room of our apartment that was farthest from our neighbors.) I hope Tanya feels calmer and more secure tomorrow!
Your decorating efforts are sure to be appreciated, MizT! I hope you have a more restful sleep after all of your work on the decorating!
Heidi, I hope your shoulder shows additional improvement!
Nola, good luck with packing and preparations for you holiday!

It sure did Heidi. I think most people have that thought in the back of their minds as they realise how well infiltrated we have become. Hope Tanya feels better and more secure after her scary morning. MizT the decorations sound lovely. I had a wonderful surprise last week - came home and our tree had been taken out of storage and put up with everything done. My daughter came whilst I was at work and did it. Julie you certainly do spread yourself around you are so busy. Broni hope all is well and you can get back on your travels again. Nola best wishes for a safe trip. Also wishes to Mamacita, June, Sue and anyone I may have missed. Busy time of year now - hubby off to Sydney tomorrow and I will be joining him on Friday night for a couple of days slow travelling back to Melbourne. Not really looking forward to it at the moment - just to see hubby off will be wonderful as he is so cranky with work. My naughty boys excelled themselves yesterday - the cockatoos ate nearly the whole base of one window because they ran out of food in the feeder. They are so tame I can hand-feed them but now have to move them to another part of our garden. Tried chilli spray on the frames but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Hello, Everyone!
Heidi, I certainly hope Gil is wrong. There's no doubt, though, that much of humanity is becoming less human. Definitely frightening times!
Midge, how wonderful that your daughter surprised you by decorating the tree! Will the trip to Sydney be for fun or business? I hope you can enjoy your time there! So sorry I can be of no help repelling the cockatoos from your window frame. Have you tried a search on the internet for suggestions?
Hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned. It's a busy time of year, so I'm not surprised that not all of our friends can post frequently. We keep everyone in our thoughts, even if we don't mention you by name.

Midge, my grapefruit tree is gone and I stopped feeding the birds (except meat for the kookaburras) and that generally solved the problem with the cockatoos. Mine were also tame enough to take food out of my hand. They can be so destructive, especially when they expect food and it is not there. Buy some bird wire and put that above the frame until they go away.

Heidi, I am sorry about your reaction to the medication. Is there any physio that will help. The painting etc that I have been doing as effected my left shoulder so I am limited with what I can carry and do at the moment. I will start doing the exercises I had last time and if it does not improve I will ask my Doc for a cortisone injection. I have had one in the shoulder before. Easier for me as I do not have all your other problems and medication that you have Heidi.
We left here two days before the Towers came down and were in New Brunswick on the USA Canadian border when we heard. I thought we would never get home as I was sure G. Bush would start WW3.

Not much happening here. Thank goodness. Alie is in New York. She saw Matilda on Broadway, has been to Central Park, Times Square and is going to see the Statue of Liberty tomorrow. She has walked more than 100 km since she got to the states.

Just sorted out the 2 biggest steers, and a heifer that I decided I didn't want to keep. I'm taking them to our favorite buyer first thing tomorrow morning. This afternoon I have an appointment at Pain Management. Tomorrow evening is our Cattlemen's annual Christmas banquet. And now I'm about to call my GP to schedule a follow-up visit on my shoulder.

We got a great price for the cattle. This wasn't sale through auction.
Back from Pain Management and the pharmacy. My next epidural is scheduled on Jan. 11th. He says if my shoulder is still hug, he'll inject it at the same time. He also did a more thorough exam of the area than the ER did. I told both the pharmacist and my Pain Management doc about the bad reaction to the anti-inflammatory. they both chewed me out for not calling 911. I explained my reasoning, and they understood a little. In our county, they have a contract with a certain hospital that I will NOT go to. I have lost several friends there to serious malpractice. But if I call 911, that's the only place they will take me. I wasn't in any condition to drive, and I have found out that seriously impared, I'm still a better driver than IH. If I felt that I HAD to go to the ER, I would have called Debbie and asked her to drive me.
The livestock trailer is hooked up to my truck, to make departure easier tomorrow morning. All I have to do is load the cattle. I had an appointment tomorrow to have the RV winterized, but I changed it to Thursday. NOTHING else is going on that day.

Heidi, your comment was NOT the reason I skipped a day posting. I was busy wrapping gifts, packaging and freezing a ham I had bought, and cooking. I did not get out of my apartment all day. Just had me a 'no day'.
Yes, Tanya was mush more relaxed today. She helped me with aheavy gift that had arrived UPS. the box was damaged, so we took it out of the box and looked for damage to the item, it was fine, thankfully. Just too little padding at one spot, the spot where there was nothing inside, so a sharp corner of something tore and dented it. Then she wrapped it after finished with lunches, and made us some lunch. she has decided Mondays are the day she feeds me lunch, cause she usually cooks more than one thing over weekend. We had some of her delicious turkey soup and a salad today.
I have sleeping medication for tonight, cross fingers that it works nicely with no reactions here. Not the type of medication I like taking, but I have not had a good night's sleep in over 2 weeks. Last night I had 2 short naps. with a very long intermission in between. To bed to late, awake to early, so add it up, not much down time.
I read other comments, but cannot comment now, am falling asleep way to early for bedtime, and to late for a nap. I think the nap does not tell time, it is insisting I climb in the bed.
Hugs with extras.

I'm off in 5 minutes to load up the cattle and deliver them. Inicially I was to do this by myself, but now IH says he's coming along. So much for a peaceful drive. Plus, the shoulder is really hurting after the proding it got yesterday. The doc found the exact spot where the injury was, pushed it HARD, and asked if it hurt there. It did.

Sleeping med report! At least the first night was great! A final report later. It took longer than expected to work, and I still woke for bathroom break and meds, but only twice in 7 hours, and then right back to sleep. Much better than lately, and I felt so much better, more rested, alert when I woke this morning.

That's good to hear, MizT.
The calves have been delivered. Gil told the buyer that they'd weigh just over 500 lbs apeice. I told him that they were well over 600 lbs. The 2 steers were 620 lbs each, and the heifer was 675 lbs.
We got to see the previous 13 steers we'd sold him. They looked GOOD. He admitted that they were the widest and best steers on the place. He's a professional cattle buyer, so he knows a good animal when he sees one. He recently had disease running rampant on his facility after buying a large group of cattle that turned out to be unvaccinated. He ended up with a couple of hundred sick cattle. NONE of ours got sick. He REALLY liked that.

HEIDI, I am glad you got the calves delivered. Seems strange calling a 620-675 pound animal a calf
. It is good to have someone appreciate the care you take in breeding and maintenance of your herd. I know you enjoyed seeing where your 'babies' were living and how they are doing. Not something you usually get once you sell them. So happy for you that you found this private buyer.
JULIE, good to see you drop in. Thank you for doing so, just to let us know you are OK and thinking about us. With your hectic schedule, it would be easy enough to drop this daily check in, but you make time for us and it makes me smile.
SUZI, I saw on TOS that daughter #1 offered to decorate your tree. Will be interesting to see if she follows through. Do let us know, please. I loved your comment asking if posting a photo of last years tree suffice. Since I do not have a camera now, tempted to post an old photo of mine, same tree, same ornaments, and no one would know the ornaments are in a different arrangement this year
We have housekeeping and maintenance inspection of our apartments Friday. I knew it would be sometimes this month, as every other floor has had inspection already. Date was not noted on our monthly calendar, as it usually is and was for every other floor. I only found out late yesterday, meaning I have Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to get ready. Thank goodness for Tanya, she helped today de-clutter and organize my walk in closet. Only had 20 minuets before picking up lunches, but it made a world of difference. It looks so neat and organized now, and there is even empty space on the shelves. Even a place to store away my gift wrap box Thursday night or Friday morning, because I am NOT finished with gift wrap. When she returned, she did the same to shelves in bathroom, plus dusting every item. Dusting needed because the body powder I use was scattered about, along with normal dust.
I am pretty much keeping up with wrapping gifts as they come in, though. I had 2 come in just now (I LOVE AMAZON PRIME)and one is already finished and under tree.
I am tired, but so happy that I was able to do as much as I did today. the steroids plus the sleep medication really have helped. Still hurt, but do have periods where pain is low enough I can ignore, and do things not only that need doing, but things I just want to do.
Time for a bit of a nap, see if back feels better then. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Mizt glad to see you are finally getting some rest. Hope the pain meds and sleepers keep on working. Good on Tanya for all the help she is giving you. We do KK so I only have one gift to wrap though I do pass out choccies etc. to the wonderful renal nurses. Had renal clinic yesterday and found out my kidneys have finally given up and I am relying on the transplant kidney. So grateful to the donor family - what a hard time coming up for them with the anniversary. Into hospital Jan. 8 for stoma removal (fingers crossed). Heidi you do so much - hope your Jan 11 date is a doosey and your shoulder is better by then. It has worried you for such a long time. You must have been so p****d off when IH understated the weight of your cattle - gives me a chuckle. Oh to be organized like you June - just can't seem to get in the spirit this year. Suzi - how long is Allie away for? Sounds like she is having a wonderful time. When I was her age the only way I could get out of home was to get married - so I did. Lucky I picked a good one!! Julie make sure you take some time for yourself - you are so busy. Cheers for now.

Sorry to hear that your kidneys gave up the ghost, Midge. Good luck with the stoma removal.
It made no difference that IH underestimated the weight of the calves. We weren't paid by his estimate. They were weighed, and we were paid according to their actual weights. At the Cattlemen's meeting/ Christmas banquet tonight, we compared the price we got today with what people we know got paid today at the cattle auction. We got 25ยข a pound more than anyone else. I feel smug.
We call any cattle under a year old calves.

Hoo boy. Last evening my ankle decised to act up something fierce .... this is the one I've broken twice. ... so I used a cane to go to the Christmas banquet. (I believe a weather change is coming.) I couldn't walk without it. I woke up this morning with the shoulder back to square one. Using the cane must have thrown it off balance enough to re-injure it. My god, it hurts. Heidi, so sorry to hear that your shoulder is back at square one. Yes, having to use the cane can put more pressure on that shoulder and like you, I think that started it back to complaining again. I know you had reaction to the Rx anti inflammatory, but do you think it was just that one? wondering if you can at least take OTC ones. Or even ask for oral steroids until time for injections again? Not sure what your pain clinic protocol is, I know mine will not do injections within certain number of weeks of another steroid, thinking 3 weeks? I just am wishing there was something you could do till time for the epidural again. I do not like you being in such pain. Have you tried alternating ice and heat? Kind of messes up the pain signal to brain and the heat brings more blood flow to help your body heal.
June, I have had both shoulder and back done at the same time. My doc said much the same, lets do your shoulder while we have you asleep. OOOPS, if I remember right, Heidi is not asleep for her back injections.
I have also had both hips done same time, this by an orthopedic doc. He told me he put half the amount allowed into each hip. Other docs would not think of doing that, depends on the doc perhaps?
June, congrats on getting such a good start on your cards. I received my first card from down under, from a quilting friend, with a nice Christmas letter too. I think you and I are just opposite, I have gifts bought and wrapped, but have not done the first card. Most of mine will be hand delivered here at EP, so no rush to beat postal deadlines on those.
Tanya and I worked for four hard hours yesterday, cleaning apartment. she is doing MUCH deeper cleaning than has been done in a long long time. I am talking about using a toothbrush clean. Inside of my fridge shines. I thought it was in pretty good shape, a couple spills needed cleaning up, but now it is spotless. We have mostly straightening and de-cluttering today, then the floors. (looks as if I am inventing new words today, spell check does not recognize that)
Hope I can manage not to do to much to set my back complaining again today.
big social day, birthday party at 2 pm, then scrabble after. I asked Tanya to come early to work on apartment, instead of staying late after lunches done.
Best get busy, hugs to each of you, with extras.

The pain doc offered to give me that shot if nothing else worked in the meantime. He did tell me touse moist heat. That works as long as I'm using it. As soonas I quit, the pain returns. Still, I'd rather go through this pain than through the side effects of that drug again.
In a few, I'll be taking my RV in to be winterized. It'll only take about 1 1/2 hours, so I'm gonna crawl in bed in the back and rest while they work.

Got the RV winterized. While relaxing in back while they worked, I FINALLY got hold of my GP's office. I have an appointment Monday morning. Maybe they can do something to help. The shot from Pain Management is our fall-back plan in case nothing else works.
The pain level today is a 9 out of 10. I still prefer it to the side effects from that med. Well, back to bed with the heating pad.

Psychosomatic pain here. I had to give myself a needle today. I have to stop my Plavix because of my skin cancer removal next week. Because I can't just stop blood thinners I have to have a different kind. This one is a daily injection. A nurse helped me give myself the first one today. Intellectually I know that it doesn't hurt anymore, but I still feel it.
