Heidi, I am glad the hip is better with some rest. there is an exercise that I was taught that helped to stretch that huge muscle that holds the hip in place. I cannot explain it, but I should think you could find it on the internet. It did relieve some of the pain for me and give me better function.

here it is, you first must exercise to stretch the muscles. This is the one that worked best for me.

Iliotibial band stretch, side-leaning: Stand sideways near a wall with your injured side closest to the wall. Place a hand on the wall for support. Cross the leg farther from the wall over the other leg. Keep the foot closest to the wall flat on the floor. Lean your hips into the wall. Hold the stretch for 15 to 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times.

I think I did these 3 times a day. Later they added some strengthening exercises, too, but this simple stretch helped to keep the pain under control for me.

here is the link:

I hope this helps some.

JUNE, I am sorry the MRI was so painful for you. You can join the club of painful MRI survivors now, you, me and Mama. Anyone else already a member? I do hope they can find an easily fixable cause for your shoulder pain. Will be thinking about you until you hear from your doc. I hope you have a good day for visiting with son and family, and it does not cause you more shoulder pain getting there and home. Hugs to you, friend, very gentle hugs.

I do think that I replied to Broni's post explaining work cover. Wonder where my posts are going? Did I forget to send? Who knows. I said it sounds much like our workman's comp here. There are always people who try to take unfair advantage. I do hope your workmate is not successful.

I was outside a bit today. I had some coleus that I planted in two containers in the patio garden. Everything outside was well watered by mother nature, so one less gardening chore today. Sun was lovely and warm, but wind still had a chill. I have learned not to trust the posted temperature and had brought down a jacket.

I really need to make some zucchini muffins and thaw some meat for cooking tomorrow. Only have some ham in my planned overs at the moment. OH a bit of tuna salad too, I had a huge garden salad with tuna salad on top for my lunch yesterday, it was good.

I am thinking of you all, hope you are doing as well as can be. Huge hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Dallas.
The game last night was one of the best I've ever seen. Plus, Gil was cheering avidly for Wisconsin, and I was cheering for Kentucky. He was so excited when Wisconsin had a large-ish lead in the first half, and I had to remind him that Kentucky always treats the first half like it was warm-up. They can be behind as much as 20 points at halftime, and still win the game. It's happened so many times that I've ceased worrying when it happens.

Unusual weather forecast for tonight. Temp now is 55, it will go UP overnight, to 65 by morning. Rain event is bringing up Gulf moisture and with it the warmer temps. Then tomorrow, as the storm system leaves by mid morning, temps will go DOWN during the day. So far we have not had the downpours others nearby have had, just a steady light rain. There is even some huge hail with one storm, estimated up to 3 and 1/2 inches. That is nearly baseball sized hail, oh my.

Our time is coming, I see a huge rain and t storm system headed right at us. I hope there is no hail in the storm headed our way. I am not going anywhere. One reason I do not like to drive in rain, and another, this weather has me in a major hurt. I have spent a good part of the day in bed. I just cannot stay warm today.

I did make some zucchini muffins, had a couple for a very late breakfast, sure were good. I put a dozen of them into the freezer. Recipe makes 18 so I do not have to make often

Heidi, I am glad to see you are resting between necessary chores. Hope you are almost finished with the had-to-be-done stuff.

Broni, how funny about Bella and the green frog. I am glad you did not have to share your dinner with it hehehe.

I wish I could send some of this overabundance of rain to those in need. Instead I send huge hugs to each of you, with extras.

I got most chores done. I didn't get the hole in the driver's seat of my truck patched. I should be able to get it done tomorrow, despite the rain. I can just pull the truck into the horse barn.

Right now I'm making supper..... roast chicken marinaded in italian dressing, fresh steamed asparagus and potato salad. And my tummy is rumbling.

Okay, tried to read and almost reported someone as offensive. Will try to share my anecdote instead.

We occasionally go for a pub dinner and hubby buys the duck salad. It is amazing!

When k and j were at June's youkidme made an amazing salad. June showed where to find the recipe (on the back of the noodle pack). The sauce we made straight from the packet, but did some substituting for the rest. Mediterranean salad instead of Chinese cabbage and sunflower seeds instead of pine nuts because the pine nuts were $80 a kilo so the amount I needed was going to be $20! Prepiackaged might have been cheaper, but I didn't have time to look for them.

Everyone loved it and hubby said he didn't need to pay a fortune for the pub meal anymore because that was the salad they make!

Good Morning dear friends from a very cloudy, damp Pa. Weather here is still unsettled...yesterday was a beautiful spring promise of what we can have and today is one that is needed for growth of what we need to eat and drink. Mother Nature knows how to balance things out usually...just wish we could reign in our treatment of her so as to stop confusing her with this man-made climate warming, and she'd do the same. Suzy...the salad sounds delightful, but I'm saddened by the news you shared...and I'm glad you did b/c as Broni said that is one way we can help, by acting as a sounding board that allows you to say whats in your heart w/o judgement. Condolences to Alie, you and of course the other friends and family of the young lady. Her Mom will have a hard time of it I imagine...such a loss. Depression is so difficult for people not suffering to understand, let alone for teens to try and live with. June, hoping that treatment will remedy your discomfort and so sorry that the MRI was so uncomfortable...I had hoped it wouldn't be that way for you. Tricia...We seem to be sharing bad days far to often recently...we've just got to find another way. My hands are acting up something fierce with both the cold and the pain, and to add to my woes, my cpac mask has begun to hurt my head. I have been getting lumps and lots of pain when I sleep certain ways...I'm not sure if its too tight or what. I have a small head and most things do have to be tightened up more than it calls for, or it will fall off. I use protector pads and have not always had this problem...why now I just don't know. No wonder I keep having headaches too. The doctor didn't seem unduly concerned when I mentioned this but it wasn't his head that hurt either...Oh well, I can put my faith into the fact that this too shall pass...either it will get worse or better, or I'll learn how to prevent it from happening...but a change will come. Sending out hugs, love, jugs and healing vibes to all that want and need them...also sending wishes for peace and contentment where discord currently rears its head.May joy now be the norm.♥

Oh Suzy, I do hope Alie is OK. I can remember a boy I used to talk to on the school bus (he was a loner). He was a year younger than me. It was probably the first person I knew who had taken their own life. When that happens it is upsetting for everyone.
I see a specialist tomorrow. I do hope things can get fixed without too much drama.
There is narrowing between discs 5/6 and also a growth on the bones between, It is all rubbing on the nerves. Should find out more tomorrow and if it easy to fix.
I was typing this in last night and fell fast asleep at the computer!

Hi all.
Oh Suzy, Such a tragedy for a young person to feel that life has no escape from their pain. We all need to feel loved and happy, hope (as June said) that Alie and yourself are dealing with this.
We are still waiting for our new mobile internet modem and only have random access. The battery has swollen which seems to be a problem for many.
Not happy, after buying more access.

Broni...we had a large green frog sitting on a pot the other night too. The girls thought he was just beautiful.
We used to have a big expanse of bush at the back of us from a property that bordered about 8 properties in our estate. New people moved in and have excavated the lot. Now we have little privacy and a view of the highway. The new woman who bought it, visited most of us and said that she was only clearing along the fence line. WOW.
A few of the neighbors are not happy. A tree fell on someones chook pen, and there was an altercation about who was going to fix it. Bit of a buzz in our usually very quiet area.
I don't particularly care, but feel she lied about clearing just the fence line.Possible, snakes will be less of a problem.

Speaking of live things... I just went to the loo. I was sitting there minding my own business when a skink ran out in front of me. I stood/sat still and he didn't move, when I moved, he moved. I went to wash my hands and he ran over my foot! I squealed! So many living things in this house! Spiders, ants, skinks, crickets, occasionally little frogs, beetles, flies, mosquitoes, gnats (if I let a banana go too brown), even a red belly black snake!

Sitting here thinking about Alie. They had a year meeting first thing this morning to discuss what happened. She was late as we had our flu shots this morning. She told me on the way to school that the sister doesn't think it was suicide, which told me that it was probably an overdose, which can be interpreted as accidental. I said as much to Alie who yelled at me 'It wasn't an overdose mum'. So either she knows something I don't know or she was doing her usual 'if mum said it it must be wrong' thing. My memory of the conversation has her saying she didn't know what happened to I suspect the latter.

Julie, glad to hear the taxes are almost sorted, and with a few days to go!

June, I hope they sort something out about your shoulder soon! Only losing by one shot with your shoulder out was a major achievement. You told me how you had to play and it sounded like hard work! I would never have succeeded at that tactic as my aim wouldn't have been good enough. I'm guessing DIL is the reason you have to meet them in a park? Big hugs!

Heidi, my mother had bursitis and took lots of pain pills for it. She was very very active so the exercise thing was taken care of. She ended up with a disability sticker on her car though. I had a giggle about your neighbours, though I'm sure it was hard going while it was happening...

Cyn, I get called a racist at school. Most of the time I don't even notice a student's race, especially some of the part aboriginals. If they get in trouble it's because they've done the wrong thing. I just tell them i don't care if you're purple!

Broni, what a major pain in the rear end! I'm not real fond of workcover either. In NSW you are automatically guilty. If an employee is injured because they weren't wearing their safety equipment, you are guilty. If you had trained them, warned them, took all kinds of action to try to get them to wear their equipment and they still took it off when you turned your back - still guilty. And the way the legislation is written, they always win. I hope Queensland is more sensible, I know VIC is...

Saw the specialist today. He wants some more tests done. Bone scan and ultrasound. They will be done next week and I see the specialist again on 22nd April. He is hoping things can be improved with physio and cortisone injections. he said he did not want to talk about operation at this stage. There is a fair amount of age deterioration and it would be a big operation but with high chances of success.
I am getting a bit worse each day so I am pleased I was able to cope while Jane and Kathy were here and also our gathering.

June, hope Ken is ok after his 'blasting' and that he doesn't need anymore. Your neck/shoulder problem sounds painful, hope they can sort it out soon for you.
The weather here has been cold and wet over the last few days. Elaine was away for the weekend camping on a Duke of Edinburgh silver expidition (practice one). She now has to get her tent dried out. As a leader she doesn't use a small tent. Fortunately it is sunny and dry, though still a little cold, today.

They removed the post. I reported it because I regretted posting it, but it hung around for a long time, now it's gone, which is confusing for people who didn't see it.

A young girl in Alie's year at school committed suicide yesterday. Alie says kids are sobbing all day today, but she's fine. She just has a really upset tummy and feels sick. If I tell her I think that's her equivalent to sobbing all day she'll yell at me so I just let it go.

Apparently her year are not going to school again until next term. I think that's a mistake as I think they need to be around their friends, but maybe a hundred or so kids in tears isn't good for general peace around the school.

I feel so bad for that young girl. And I think that if all those grieving kids had let her know how much they cared BEFORE she committed suicide, there may have been a different outcome. I understand what she felt. I've come so close to committing suicide so many times in my life that I'm hurting for her.
