I have an appointment for a cortisone injection in the right shoulder next Tuesday. I have to find a very good physiotherapist (I will see when I can get an appointment with him), a referral to a pain specialist. If I get relief from the cortisone I can then get one in the left shoulder. See the specialist again in 3 months and then decide if I should have the neck operation. He is hoping that it will not be necessary. So am I.

I put a couple of photos of Belinda's Mini pup on my page. Mum is a Maltese XX and Dad a Shih Tzu XX. The pup does not seem to hear very well and the jaw is out of alignment but the Pup seems very happy. It loves to play and likes to climb up and sit on your shoulder to watch TV.
All the other pups were OK and have all been sold.

Just popping in to say Hello! D#1 ran (and finished) the Boston Marathon yesterday. She ran to raise funds for an organization called Cradles to Crayons, which helps provide clothing, toys, school supplies, etc. for children from birth to age 12. (She ran in spite of having had food poisoning last week and being unable to eat for 3 or 4 days.) We're extremely proud of her!

No time to read & comment. We have an early morning, hoping our garage door can be repaired. The spring that helps lift & lower the door broke, and we can't lift the door by hand, so we can't use the cars.

Sending positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and for everyone!

Just checking in. Nothing happening much. I won't know when I leave for Florida until Friday at the earliest. Thursday is a dental cleaning. Tomorrow I need to fill the water tank in the RV, to be ready to leave at the drop of a hat. I can't wait to be back on the road again.

Sorry to hear that, Suzy. Very frustrating.

I think it's about time I mowed the lawn. It's almost long enough to hay it. I wish the grass in my hay field was so tall.

I did too much digging in the dirt today and I feel it everywhere now! But I have that small bed almost ready to receive plants, maybe later this week. I will NOT be going back tomorrow, too much of a good thing. But I was able to actually dig because the ground was soft from the rain lately, and I added 2 and a half bags of good garden soil and cow manure to it. Once i get it stirred in a bit better plants should be happy there.

I am so glad I do not have to mow the lawn Heidi. I hope your riding mower is all ready to do all the work for you.

Julie, how wonderful your daughter was able to run and finish the marathon, especially after being so sick recently.

We received the cook books. the first thing I heard once they were in is 'have you seen your photo in the book? That is the best picture of you.' It was pretty good, Shannon caught me smiling at one of our celebrations downstairs.

Remember me saying I got stuck in the middle of the road a few weeks ago, my chair in a pot hole and would not move? Shannon called city hall, and spoke to one of the council menbers. Our road is now on schedule for repaving, yeah! No more getting stuck. Shannon had told the lady if she would tell us when the council meeting would be, she would bring me down to make request in person. They knew she would, too, she has done just that before. Did not have too, it was brought up and voted upon. It is just a short one block long street and has been patched so many times the patches have patches on them.

My body is saying it is time to lie down once again, even my hands hurt. Just took pain meds, they should work soon. I think digging jarred everything in my body turning over that little patch of dirt, the times I hit rocks, big ones, with the digging fork really jarred everything. This is more physical work than I have done in forever, I am so glad I could do it once again, even if I am paying for it now. This is the last big hard job for this summer, after these plants go in, it will mostly be watering, and planting a few more containers until the heat kills off the pansies and those need replacing, sometime in June usually. Good thing, too, the weather is getting hotter. I over heated today, my hair under my sun hat was dripping and my face red as a beet. Patty, one of the resident's daughter, brought us a container to go under the sign on the front lawn. Never have been any thing blooming in that area, after the azeleas are finished. this is a test to see what might grow there, it gets almost no sun. If this goes well, perhaps next year we can dig and lay out a small raised bed under the sign to add some color. That is one of the projects several residents have suggested. I try to give a try to thier suggestions, makes for good will that way. I was asked if I could cut back the bottom limbs of one of the huge 'Pride of Mobile' azaleas in the back, Small dogs would go under there to do thier business and thier Moms could not find them or thier depo

I was asked if I could cut back the bottom limbs of one of the huge 'Pride of Mobile' azaleas in the back, they were dragging the ground. Small dogs would go under there to do their business and thier Moms could not find them or their deposit to clean up. Easy enough to do and I carried the branches in and put in a huge vase for a few days. 'Pride of Mobile' has some of the largest blooms of any of the azaleas. http://stephspaintstudio.blogspot.com/2012/03/azaleas.html

I tried to find a photo that showed just how large these blooms are in comparison to regular blooms, but no luck. These are the color of ours, a lovely pale pink with a touch of darker pink.

Enjoyed Scrabble today. For about the second time since we have been playing, Mary came in last and by a large margin. That just after Shannon dropped in to say hello and asked who was winning. (We play just across the hall from her office) Usually it is Mary and she is also the one who keeps score. Shannon asked us did we really trust her that much?? hehehe. I do think Mary reads the dictionary every night, she could give Heidi a run for her money I think.

Heidi, hope the dentist appointment is uneventful and the vet says.. . gee, which horse?? is ready for breeding. Know you are looking forward to another colt.

June, I went back and looked at both photos, before I only saw one of them. Still the cutest little thing I have seen in a while.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

We have been dancing tonight. Old fashioned type dancing. I did have a couple of dances. I told Ken I could dance as long as I did not have to move my arms! I danced holding them close to my side.
Julie, how wonderful of your daughter to run in the Boston marathon.
MizT, I could do with you in my garden at the moment. I have to contact a handyman as it is getting beyond us at the moment (actually Ken cuts the lawn but does not garden). I have huge self seeded tomatoes vines all along the back fence. The problem is some birds seem to be eating the small tomatoes as they ripen.

Some excitement here tonight. Tahli fell out of bed and cut near her eye. Dana felt the cut was big enough to need checking so called me. I took them up to emergency and after a couple of hours we were seen by a nurse and her cut was glued shut. If it looks bad in the morning Dana will try to get into a doctor - not easy on a public holiday! Tahli kept picking up Dana's bag and saying let's go mum and walking to the door.

We had to hold Tahli down, she didn't want anyone near her face. After it was all done I was very dizzy, like I was going to faint, scary for me, but all good now!

I spent the morning with my neighbor George. We had to replace a fence that was destroyed when a massive tree fell on it. It took a long time to cut up and remove that old oak, and we've had to keep all animals out of that pasture. Now that the fence has been replaced (~80 feet was destroyed), we can let critters out there.

Now I'm off to the dentist's. Byeeeee.

Just wanted to share a part of my family history.
'Think this is appropriate today, my Mum's Brother was killed in the 2nd World War and I have donated all his letters my Mum kept to the Canberra National War Museum a while ago (he did have a wicked sense of humour) I believe he was part of the Z Force. Contacted them recently and hope to hear from them soon.
I donated them on the condition they give a copy back to the family, they are very delicate, most on air mail paper for those who remember.'

Yet another day where I don't get to read properly. Today we have bob and a gay friend of his to stay. I mention the gay bit because he looked absolutely terrified when he walked in, like we were going to stone him or something. He looks more comfortable now, though not completely.

Tahli is a lot better today, her eye is swollen and discoloured but she doesn't seem to be in any pain. Phew.

Yuum, my house smells so very good. I am baking a spice cake and wrapping chocolate chip and iced sugar cookies to take down for the bake sale tomorrow. On FB I saw instructions for making paper baskets from paper plates. I made some just large enough to hold a dozen cookies. Wrapped in clear saran wrap and ties with curly ribbon, that ribbon that will curl is you stretch it over a scissors blade. cute packages. Sometimes presentation is important, ya know.

I had thought about making cupcakes too, but we will see. Kitchen already so very hot from the oven, and I do want to get back outside today too.4 dozen cookies and a cake should be enough for my contribution, ya think?

We had rain last night, I actually heard the thunder last night so it mush have been close. Yesterday newscast announced that our weather radio for this area will be down for 2 or 3 weeks. When doing regular maintenance on the tower and transmitter, they found it was in need of replacing, the heat and humidity had caused damage. Here in the tornado season is not a good time to be without weather radio. We will have to monitor TV and internet for reports now. More storms forecast for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, a long rainy spell, and some severe weather a possibility.

Heidi, hope the vet says Whimsy is ready and you are soon on the road again. whenever you do go, have a safe and successful trip.

Suzy, I hope your guest soon feels more comfortable with you. I am happy to see your grandie is doing well today.

Broni, I have never thought of savory french toast, here it is always served as sweet. It sounds good, might have to try that. Very good that you have donated the letters to the museum. I hope many people get to read and have a bit of understanding of that era through the letters.

Timer is buzzing time to check the cake. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

I think I can smell your kitchen from here Tricia. Watched all the Anzac stuff on TV yesterday. It was interesting after visiting Gallipoli last year when we were in Turkey.
How I would like to be somewhere on a pain free holiday at the moment. told ken last night I just wish I was having the operation instead of all this 'we will try this first'. There are about 4 people we know who have had this operation and it has been completely successful.
Sorry that is just me feeling sorry for myself. I did not have a very good day yesterday.

It looks like we'll be leaving for Florida on Tuesday or Wednesday. That gives me time to get the RV packed and loaded with food and drink for human, horse and collie. That also means that I probably won't be back here in time to work the cattle next Friday morning.

Wish I could share some of the cookies and cake with you, June and Heidi and everyone. Tables were full of cakes today when I took mine down. I am happy to find out they are asking a good price for the cakes, makes it worthwhile to make mine. Cakes go for $18 to 22 each, depending on size and if it is iced or not. Probably get even more if it is cut and sold by the slice at $2 a slice, as some are. Cookies and brownies are bagged 2 or 3 to the bag and go for $2. I saw over a thousand dollars worth of cakes and cookies down there! This is our biggest fund raiser for the Residents Association. I think our cook book will be our second best fund raiser. Did I tell you that my photo is in it and everyone said it is the best photo ever, too. I need to see if I can scan it and post. It was taken at one of our parties downstairs, and Shannon caught me smiling at something she said.

June, no need to be sorry, that is what we are here for, if you need to vent, complain, or sound off about something, we are here to listen. I understand totally about the trying this and that first and taking their own sweet time even about getting to the 'trying'. I hope your day is better than yesterday was and that your treatments will begin to show some pain relief soon.

Today I did get outside and planted that new flower bed. It is going to be nice when they have time to grow a bit. I always buy the small plants cause we have such a long growing season there is plenty of time to let them mature after planting.

I do think someone helped themselves toone of my geraniums I had bought and was waiting to get planted. I bought a flat of 6, in quart sized containers. Now I only have five. I do hope whomever took it really needed it and gets great pleasure from it. But I am shocked that someone really would take it.

I think it is nap time again. I came in and to bed after the planting, was that tired, and only got up for pain meds. I think I did not get my nap out, and since nothing is pressing I can just go back. I do need to be feeling my best tomorrow morning, I will be collecting money at the bake sale here at EP. I was told just this afternoon that usually our bake sale here finishes before the Gumbo is all gone over at Sloss Furnace where the Gumbo Gala is being held, so I might be able to go over there for a bit, if tickets at the gate are not too expensive and if I am not too tired. I really like gumbo if it is not too hot. The bus will be making frequent trips so I can still get a ride over. I have never been, tomorrow is to be a repeat of this beautiful day, thought I might check it out.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

I just boiled up one of the frozen chickens Ken won at the Bowling club. I now have a big pot of chicken soup and the makings of apricot chicken for tonight. I also bought a couple of quinces. I like them cooked and with custard and cream. There should be enough food for two days!
What a success for you bake day. I am pleased the prices reflect the work put into making the cakes. What I make for our trading table is only a couple of dollars more than the cost of making it.
Heidi ,not sure how far you have to drive but can you have the semen delivered?

Bake sale was a success, we made more than last year, total near $1400! And as much as I was surrounded delicious chocolate, strawberry and lemon cakes and lemon fried pies, I did not buy anything. I am not eating sweets now, and you know, I really was not craving any of them, even with so much available.

Did I say that yesterday I got flowers planted at the driveway/alley intersection, back of the parking area? they seem happy there, everything standing tall and looking perky now. I mulched them a bit with what pine straw was available, I need more and a few more plants also. I will see what plants are available tomorrow when I go out for groceries. Need some for 2 more containers also. I hope they have something nice on offer.

Tomorrow I need to be up early and off to grocery. I was too tired after the bake sale, and I do need some things. The only fruit I have is canned pineapple, I am never that low of fruit. It is forecast rain starting about noon, would like to get there and back before the rain if possible.

Suzy, hope you enjoyed your bit of relative peace and quite while out with Dana and Tahli. How long are Bob and friend planning to visit? How is Tahli's cut? No need to seek further medical treatment?

June, your Apricot Chicken sounds good, what besides the obvious, chicken and apricots, are in it? I like to cook ahead and have food for 2 days also. I have one more serving of ham and vegetable soup for lunch and one more serving of Italian sausage, green beans, onion and tomato stir fry, that should get me through till tomorrow night. I might buy a rotisserie chicken while at grocery, so much can be done with a chicken that is already cooked. At the moment my favorite chicken meal is chicken fajitas.

Loraine just brought me a slice of lemon cake. She bought the entire cake, and was dividing it and freezing for later. She has an unusual arrangement with one of the men living here. He shops for groceries, they share the cost and she cooks. He just comes by once a day for his evening meal. Loraine is wheel chair bound, and shopping was a big chore for her, but she likes to cook. It works for them!

I think I might try for a nap. Hopefully everyone who has been calling since I returned from the bake sale has said all that needs saying .

hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Whew, Heidi, glad it was not one of your calves that died. OK, it was Gil's calf that died and YOU have to bury it? What is wrong with that picture? Only acceptable reason would be to keep Gil from using your tractor?? Nice of you to let your friend borrow your wheelchair. I hope her recovery goes quickly and the chair makes life easier for her in the mean time.

Wow, we are having some thunderstorm. I had not realized how bad it was till I got out of Wal Mart. I knew it was coming when I went in, it had sprinkled on me when buying flowers at Lowes today. Inside WalMart, could not hear a thing. It had slacked off when I came out, thankfully and also I had a very close parking space, both at wal mart and when I parked here at EP, so I only got damp loading groceries and other purchases.

I spent more today than I have at one time since living alone, but I bought some extra things. I bought a small beef roast, and a couple of steaks, just in the mood for meat, and you know how much that would cost. I bought Miralax laxative, that is almost $20 by itself, well, OK, $16.79, but that sure messes up a $20 bill . Bought a new shirt, I really like it, crinkled fabric that I know from others I have had will be really cool to wear and a great turquoise color too, with wide, heavy cotton lace inset at the neckline. I had to buy some floor wax, in the year and a half I have been living here, we have gradually washed/worn away what was once on the floor. Without the wax, the floor gets dirt ground into the surface of floor, and it now takes scrubbing to get it clean. We will try wax to see if that is better and keeps poor Mary from getting on knees to scrub with a brush. I just mop between her visits and by time she comes back floor looks terrible! Bought another flower container, stuff like that run up a bill quickly.

I had parked near a storm drain that runs across the parking lot at Wal mart, and the sound of rain water running deep inside it was loud, so I took a look. Flash flood amounts of water running in it, apparently it had rained a lot more than I thought and for a long time while I shopped. It is thundering close enough and loud enough I can hear it here in apartment, that has to be loud.

Julie, nice to see you post before midnight here. I will snap some photos with my camera and then see if Joy can get them onto computer for me. She thought she has fixed it so I could upload from camera, but nope, the link only accesses the ones she uploaded for me. Yes, I also think we had a great bake sale. We sold aver $200 just here at EP, to people who did not go to the Gala. I decided not to go, since I was tired from the day, and back complaining from helping move 2 eight feet long tables back into the kitchen. 4 of those are used for an island when we are preparing food in kitchen, and it is also the site of the twice weekly poker game. They sometimes have 12-15 players around that table.

Broni, I hope Bella does well having the
