My oldest son is a true fan of Robert Jordan. He keeps up on some website. I don't know if it is Wheel of Time based or if it is fan club based, but there is quite a bit of info about Mr. Jordan's health on the page. I will see if I can get an web address for you. Fantasy is all I want to read, but I spend most of my time reading teaching manuals. When I do get time to read for fun, it is always fantasy. Not so much sci-fi, but occasionally that will do if I can't get a good series going. I just finished "Mists of Avalon" and that was real good too. Makes you think about the origins of religions.

Oh yeah, welcome to the site! I don't post very often. I post more in the summer than during the school year.

One of our friends of long standing also has a rare blood disease. Right now, he is on some pretty heavy meds. I don't know any more than that... I do know the family, (5 members) are going through alot as mom also has breast cancer and just finished her second bout and 2nd mastectomy this summer. But, there is alot of family and community support for them, so that makes it easier.

Sorry about your wife. I have been married for 29 years in January.

Already read "The Dark Tower", at least the first 4... Then I got sidetracked with the Wheel of Time books. I read them over and over - seems like I always discover more each time I read them. I use to do that with Jack London's White Fang when I was a kid, until I let some English professor ruin it by analyzing it.
