Hi Chris. I have only just noticed that you have your own page now. I have been hoping to catch you for some time. We were probably both living in Fiji at the same time! I was there from 1966 to 1970 when we came to Sydney. I was born in NZ (my parents didn't trust the Fijian 'witch doctors' after they diagnosed her with appendicitis and after whipping it out and finding nothing wrong with it declared she must be pregnant instead!) but moved back to Fiji when I was 7 weeks old. We will have to compare notes as our parents probably knew each other!

It seems I missed your birthday as well. I hope you had a fantastic day.

Hello, Chris. Ask away. I'll check back here and reply. You know, posting first isn't much fun...unless I'm trying to beat you, which isn't easy. Shall we resume the contest? All the best.

Hi Ian, I was just wondering what the weather is generally like in Boston around the time of the marathon (mid-April I think.) I'm thinking seriously considering entering the marathon in 2010 (presuming I can run a qualifying time after around September this year) then meandering over to Ottawa to see my brother and the niece I've never seen.

Chris,
This year's marathon is on April 21st. I used to live about a mile west of Heartbreak Hill, 30k into the race.

The weather, on average, is very pleasant. But it's like the old joke that when you've got one hand in a block of ice and the other is on fire, you doing great on average. Late April is usually between 5ºC and 15ºC; but temperatures lower and higher are not noteworthy, just not the norm. And wind and rain are completely unpredictable. Runners never wear anything but shorts and regular sleeveless top.

Wish I could be more specific, but I'd be lying.

Chris, I gather from your comment on today's medium that you are still feeling like a droopy dog! Try to be positive, it's only a cold and it will go away. Get that orange juice into ya, like they used to say about chicken soup, it may not help but it wont hoit!

Chris,
Well done! Just training for a marathon is an achievement! My husband has trained & run 12 marathons... 4 being Boston Marathons & the rest were Chicago Marathons.). The longest race I was ever in was a 25K. So, "Congratulations!" ...no matter where you place!

Chris, dropping in to wish you luck for tomorrow, though I really don't think you need it. Participating in any Marathon, is a major achievement in my eyes, so
to you, just go out there and have fun.

Congratulations Chris, your time was excellent. You must be so proud. I have been watching the London Marathon today, fascinated by it all. The weather keeps changing in London and they had rain, humidity and then sunshine not easy conditions to run it. Well done.
