She was born May 20th. Her Nana is just smitten. I'm taking it pretty much in stride waiting 'till she's a little older when I can start teaching her all the bad habits I was not allowed to teach mine own.

Anne, when the wee tad's father was but six years old, he informed us, at the dinner table, that he could say "I've got the fever for the flavor of a Pringles" in one belch and proceeded to do so. (Made his father proud)! Now, don't you think it only fair that her gran'pa teach her to do her old pappy one better? I'm thinking something from Browning or Millay.

Sorry to disappoint, Anne, that is a different Jeb. I will accept no responsibility for that kid though he does look like a good candidate for teaching arm pit music to. Do I need to de-fuse all the excitement of the other posters?

But...the camera person must have been wearing a funny nose or Groucho glasses or sumptin.

Anne, so great to hear from you! Yes, the concert was fabulous, and Bon Jovi continues to be quite easy to look at. That smile! I can't believe your daughter has been so remiss to exclude you from the Perth concert. Perhaps you could give her an itemized list of all the sacrifices you've made for her over the years ... then play the health card by saying that if you don't go to the concert, you'll die of a broken heart! Good luck with that, and cheers, Cathy

Thanks for your Birthday wishes. Mom flew up here for the weekend and we celebrated with a huge 10½" Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie. I have to admit it was one of my best and hope you enjoy a piece with me for breakfast/lunch.

It was 100° both days over the weekend - was suppose to go up to 106° today but is now slated for 95° today. Going to a BBQ tonight & sharing ice cold cherries.

PS check the Sudoku Cookbook for the recipe.

Hi Anne, Just read your comment on todays hard. This is a native rock, sandstone. It is abundant in this area. Except for some stucco this is stone-rock is all around the house, my fire place if fronted in it also. I use this rock to make borders for my flower beds.

Hello Anne. Well no doubt I sounded a little peevish in my post!! However I really don't see what on earth Australia is going to gain from this lot; seems to me they had their chance and blew it. Now we have KRudd being offered a place in the cabinet. Wasn't he so incompetent that they had to get rid of him? And we all know where the money for all the promises, or at least as many of them as suits them, will be coming from. WA the only state that seems to be able to keep it's head above water. It's my grand children I worry for. Enough said. Hope you are keeping well in beautiful Albany.

Hi Anne, Thank you, your highness, for your kind note on my page. Once again - tho' a first time for me - you have shown your thoughtfulness to us Sudokuers. In short, you're a 'real doll'.
On my first visit to your page I'm bringing as a goodwill offering some gifts, small thank yous to share with you and your family in celebration of your warmth and fun and photos over the years. As a starter some maté (orange and pineapple juice from up Carnarvon way for your grandchildren) and a box of mangos to recall your visit to Peru. To follow, some Campari (my fav, but negotiable) and nuts, then burgundy with steak a la poivre, frites and a big leafy, garlicky green salad from France. For dessert with sauternes, an Aussie/Canadian Pavlova with passion fruit splashed around and over tiny wild Quebec strawberries topping banana slices piled into thickly-whipped cream. A walk or bike ride to Middleton Bay - perhaps with some whisky (just in case we find a suitable lamp post to hang onto, while we sing "Kookaburra sits ..., etc., etc. and debate the merits of whether he/she/it is gay, merry, happy, sad, or just generally ticked off with all these ****** humans disturbing his morning soliloquy to the sun) - might be in order at this point, before polishing off some L'Orpailleur Vin de Glace from Quebec to sweeten the pot (as it were) of a 'crock' of smooth, velvety, luscious chocolates. Mmmmmm - yummy. Oops, I forgot the cheese. Oh well, next time?

P.S. My actual name is Bev. I'm a widow. My two sons and their better halves have endowed me with three granddaughters and one grandson and another little one on the way.
I guess that photo with the red rock formation struck a chord of subconscious homesickness, hence my perhaps wistful remark (and typo!), bypassing praise for the photo itself and the beautiful scenery. I grew up in the '40s and '50s on the south side of the Swan halfway between Fremantle and Perth, with pet cockatoos, budgerigars, rabbits, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, my mother's rose garden, fruit trees and a vegetable garden. My childhood was surrounded by baby magpies (dive-bombed many times by proud parents), kookaburras (had an injured baby for a pet until its wing healed), pigface, wattle, ghost and other gums, and leschenaultia, kangaroo paws, bacon-and-eggs?, donkey orchids and other spring wildflowers, and a gum-tree filled park opposite our house in which we children dug out a dirt-bike track (just a wee bit different from the manicured park opposite my place here in Montreal!).

Hi again Anne, Somehow in all that verbiage I didn't manage to saw how I've enjoyed your photos of Albany. Only been there once; makes me want to go back! I wonder if I can actually manage my first ever CP?

Shall we try again?
The missing words in this song keep tormenting me. Would you mind very much - I'm sure that you must know them - reminding me?

"There's a track winding back to an ............ shack along the road to Gundagai,
Where my Mummy and Daddy are waiting for me
nd the friends of my childhood once more I shall see.
And no more I will roam when .............home
Along the road to Gundagai."
The nagging frustration of many years finally erased? - and a CP too?
