Hello Ian - Thank you for your visit and your kind comments. My husband gave me a digital camera for my 50th birthday a few years back and I have had a lot of fun with it. I would really like to take a class on photography and photoshop this winter. I am so technically challenged on the computer working with the photos. By the way, I like your camera/smilie Avatar!

The bird in the picture........was it taken in Australia or another country? It is just beautiful!

Wow! Life can be so complicated sometimes. That is a lot to keep straight!

I have never been to Germany. I have a dear friend here in the states that is from Germany and my husband's families, (both mom and dad) are from Germany. I hear it is beautiful there. My brother travels there quite often for business. (He lives in Sweden.)

Have a great day, Ian. Cheers.

Ian - we do have water in the lake......but it's not quite rowable just yet. Huge works have been done on the rowing course however, while it was visible (the bottom that is). The lake is kind of resembling the original swamp that is was at the moment.

Dear Ian; it is I who owes you an apology for not thanking you sooner. Yesterday was an awful day. I cried all day while I trying to put all his photos in a single folder and make sense of it all. I read your Ode To Rocko to my husband and we both shed tears reading it. Thank you my dear friend, thank you!

Hey Ian, we were in a felucca when the guide scooped up some green water and offered it to us. He then drank it with no noticable effects. It was almost solid from the brakish build-up behind the Aswan Dam. I still shudder to think about it.The joys of travel!

Thank you Ian. That evening I was sitting at the computer gathering all of Rocko's photos, when I looked out I saw a single magnolia on our tree. As I was transferring the photos I heard Lady Bird had passed away. I had to pay homage to her.

About 20 yrs ago, we went to the Morgan Factory. I believe it was in Malvern. Each car is hand made to order - all the way to the piping on the upholstry. They have been making cars there since I believe the 1930's the same way - starting with a wood frame. There is a waiting list to have one built. The factory is a row of 'sheds' going down a hill. They start at the first shed, roll it down the hill to the next shed, etc. till the interior is put in and then drive it up the hill.

Of all the 'Cottage' car manufactures in England, that we went to, this was the most interesting.

Just got your message, Ian. No it wasn't me. Maybe it's Kate/Sydney(Lane Cove) or an American Kate! I've never skied in my life either on water or the slightly more solid snow! My brother learnt to ski when we lived in England. His school went to Austria! The 2 younger sisters learnt at Falls Creek while Dad was in Wagga by then I'd started nursing in Sydney & Maureen was working & going to College in Wagga. My youngest sister is senior of Coronet Peak & Methven? ski fields in NZ. She spent a few years going from Canada (Sunshine) to Australia then Austria to NZ. So she had permanent winter, ugh, except for a sojourn in Dubbo on the way through!!! Each to her own!! She finally settled in Queenstown but as she became more senior she had less time to ski! My son spent 4 mths from Dec'06 working as a ski-lift attendant at Telluride in Colorado on a student working visa. But he doesn't ski, he snowboards!

G'Day Ian, nice of you to drop by.
I fly out of Tooradin (top of western port bay).
The Jabirus I fly are owned by the flying school, don't have my own (yet!), they are J160 and LSA versions, soon we will have J170's as well.
Sounds like you have done a lot of flying for the RAAF and had a great time doing it. My normal day job is with DSTO (formally ARL) in Fishermans Bend, so deal with the RAAF on a regular basis, I work in the Airframes and Engines Division, currently doing research into Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

Hi Ian! I like skiing but I haven't been for some time! It doesn't look like I'll get there this year either more's the pity as it looks loike a bumper year. Unfortunately it isn't me who has just returned from skiing.

I found your message on my page via an email as I'm not yet into the habit of checking My Page in Sudokoland. However, in response to your 'Philosophy According to Ian', everything you say about the odds of a flying disaster makes absolute perfect, logical sense, but.... Actually, I'm not too bad once we're up in the air and I can see the tapestry below, it's mainly the going up and down that gets to me. Then again my flying history is fairly limited and it's over 5 years now since I was last in a plane so I may find it all easier now. I should just buy one of these amazingly cheap tickets to Somewhere and just go for the heck of it. Ah..but that means getting into the car and driving on the Hume Freeway to Melbourne. There's the rub!
Now, I hope this will go directly to your own My Page. I'm getting a bit long-winded for the puzzle area.

Back again Ian. I am using your page as a test site temporarily before I waste more of Gath's time and make a complete fool of myself. I noticed that the message I sent to you this morning did not contain my whole user ID, i.e. the 'NSW' is missing. So I will quickly send this one as the greyed out boxes immediately above this definitely show the whole ID. Gath asked me if I was logged in when I sent the message, and I thought I was, but maybe I had not put the whole thing in. Hopefully this will sort me out.

Ian, I am so pleased that Chloe brought back fond memories for you. You would appreciate how famous she really is in Melbourne. She was also a favourite with troops on R&R leave in Australia during the Second World War, especially US marines. It is a stunning painting and one of such art and historical significance in a public hotel in Australia.

Such is the significance of the painting that during the time the hotel was refurbished, it was moved to the National Gallery of Victoria where it was exhibited. The National Trust and Heritage of Victoria decreed in 1988 that both the painting and the hotel remain bound together forever.

Hi Ian. On my page they just show up as icon type things. when I click the icon I get more icons for the several pictures I have when I click one of these I then get a picture & can cycle through them like I did with yours & others. Someone else has said she can't get my pictures too. I don't know why this has happened. They're not big like Anne's & hers work! I might delete them & start again!

Re my mouse problem: I have used traps many times and always have success. I use those plastic ones that are really easy to set and they work very well. I just cannot bring myself to empty them. I know it's really stupid and a case of mind over matter but I have to wait until daughter or son-in-law visits and throws the horrible little corpses away. That's why I want to stop the invasion in its tracks if possible. Someone else suggested mothballs, so I will try them.
