That pretend tirade I did today has brought forward a huge amount of memories from my trainee midwifery days!! Have you ever delivered a Harlequin foetus? RNS had a small obstetric unit, but we had some sad deliveries!
Later I did the Ultrasound Course & worked for an obstetrician in Bankstown. (Back in the days before 'real time' ultrasound.) Early on I did an ultrasound on a very young lady (I was only about 32) who was almost full term - she'd had her first visit to a Doctor & sent he her for US. Initially I hoped her bladder wasn't full enough, then I put pillows under buttocks & various other strategies hoping the head would get pushed up or the O&G guy would stop trying to design his aeroplane & look at his monitor. Eventually I had to go upstairs & get him to come down - first baby for a very young lady with not much English, anecephalic!! So many abnormal babies!!

So sorry, CP - wish I hadn't pushed the comment button!!
I did Vascular US for a while after that, then did general US - O&G, Abdo, small parts (ie: thyroid, breast, testes.... babies! - they're small). Much easier to do a kidney US on a baby or young child if MOTHER is NOT present in most cases!

Anyway, CP - go back to work, have fun but DO NOT over exert yourself - we need you here!!!!!!!!!
