Hush puppies recipe

1 C corn meal (polenta)
1 C flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
dash pepper
1/2 C chopped white onions
6 chopped green onions
1 beaten egg
3/4 C buttermilk

Mix together dry ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Let batter set about 5 minutes. Drop by spoonfuls in hot oil. Fry until golden. Serve hot.

CP if you're still awake, try this. Pinch as hard as you can take, the web of skin between your thumb and forefinger for 2 minutes. I always do this whenever I get a headache. It gets rid of the pain but not the pressure. But at least the pain is gone. My friends and students swear by it now, it is that successful.

I've been gone from Florida since early May. I helped move my sister and now am moving myself! Our house in Massachusetts sold as soon as we changed realtors and now we have much to move to our house in FL. We've lived in MA since 1985 and in FL for 4 1/2 years. The MA house has too much stuff and the FL house has some empty rooms! All my quilting things are in their very own quilting room in the FL house. I am about to finish a quilt for one of our guest rooms and itching to start one for another guest room.
How have you been and what have you been doing??

I've been reading an Anne Rice book. It kept me up till 1:30AM last night. It's a long book about a witch dynasty, spanning several hundred years... and not the "Harry Potter"-type witches, so I chose a church brochure for my bookmark!

CP thanks for checking on me during the floods but we escaped on holiday just after the highway opened again and were very lucky that the rain stopped when it did. One more day of rain and we would have been flooded out again. Despite how much Wendy loves boating in the back yard during floods I don't ever want water in the house again!!

G'day CP. I am reading back in Archives trying to catch up a little on the days I missed while I was in Miami. Loved your comment about someone putting fertilizer on the grandsons. It does seem that way sometimes, doesn't it!!! It's going to seem so strange when they get to the point of being taller than I am. And I don't think it's too many years off! Hope you are back tofeeling well again. I enjoy reading about your daily activities (some of the others not so much ). Take care.

Thanks for your birthday wishes. The party was a fund raiser for the cancer council and we raised over $700 so it was good. My #1 son is a chef so he cooked dinner tonight. Proscuito and sage stuffed chicken breasts etc. The daughter brought a deliciously healthy dessert of various fruits, sprinkled with minted sugar and served with yoghurt. She is, like you, a medical person and, given my health issues in the last 12 months, didn't bring indulgences as she is a bit of a tartar.

Thanks for your good wishes. Food would have been good but as an afternoon theatre patient I was on SSS (Soup not even tepid, Very ordinary Sandwiches on white bread, and sweets Tuesdays is a pear poached in red wine which would have been nice with a little cream or custard but it had none. #1 son though had brought me a delicious sandwich from his cafe and the other half took his mother to Sakeena's for lunch and fetched me some of her coconut syrup cake. Home after breakfast so I missed out on any decent meals there but judging from the menu they looked great. In 14 months I have managed to be in Canberra, NCPH and John James and it is definately the best food of the three. The face is only a little tender but I have great black eyes and I cannot see very well as my glasses don't fit in the correct place on my face. Dr Vlad called me this afternoon to let me know the preliminary biopsy which is all clear so all should be well but it will be a week before I get to see what damage has been done to the face. I like your Friendship post. Perhaps you can re-post for International Friend Day July 30? It used to be the first Sunday of August, so maybe we should have a Friendship Week in Sudokuland? BTW, the UN-approved International Friendship Ambassador is Winnie the Pooh(?)! So you're already on the Friendship Team. Hooray for CP.
