Back at Christmas time I posted the news that grandson Chase was going to become a big brother in July. I am happy to announce that his baby sister Maddox Ann Martin was born at 6:09 P.M. on July 27, 2015. She weighed 9 pounds and measured 21 1/4 inches long. We are thrilled to have a third granddaughter (the others are 19 and 16!) and six grandsons and feel very blessed.

Hello Kathy and Rob - thank you for visiting my page. Yes, the little boy is Johnathan, my youngest grandchild, and the photo was taken by my daughter on his first birthday two years ago.
I hope you and your family have a lovely Easter.
I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. Did you actually do the Inca Trail or go to Machu Picchu by train.
Cheers, Anne

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for dropping in. Elinor will be 18 months next week and is a wonderful handful. There is one photo of her on my flickr page if you go in there and I will be posting more very soon. In fact, if you want to go to http://karinahonyi.typepad.com/ and scroll down (a long way) to the Evans Family you can see all of us (except Paul who was at a 20 year school reunion that day!)
Have a very Happy Easter!

Kathy, thank you for the Easter greetings. It will be 25F (predicted) for sunrise services, so a lot are going inside.
My husband was in the active Navy for 12 years, four in 'Nuke' school as a student. and then as an instructor in the same nuke school. Then he did five years in surface ships, and then eight years in the Navy Reserve in Charleston, SC. (During the 'missing' three years he was at Auburn Univ getting his degree at the Navy's expense0 Since then he's worked as a systems engineer at the power company's nuclear plant here in SC. Do you have a Navy connection?

A long and admirable career, congrats to your Rob. It's about time he fully retired. Coincidentally, my husband, Bob also went thru the NESEP program -- that's what we were doing at Auburn. I don't think NESEP is still around. I know even when we were at Auburn, the program changed drasticaly. They no longer paid everything up front; it was later somehow affixed to future GI benefits and the guys got paid by the month. (Didn't affect us) It got tough buying books and things that way, but one guy that came in after we did and went thru the program that way went back nuclear (which is odd, but was designated by Adm. Rickover himself) is still active -- we feel he'll go all the way to admiral.
We only made eleven moves, some just local, in those 9 years. Sorry for taking up so much space, just couldn't help the 'small world' feeling.

I would love to get together. Do you get to Fripp or SC often? I can never tell if my husband can get time off, so except for annual golf tourneys we haven't been away from home even overnight in over two years. That is except for our son's wedding last July. Will try though, let me know.

Kathy & Rob - I love your photos of Cusco and Machu Picchu. It looks like you had a bit of cloudy weather at Machu Picchu. I fell in love with Cusco when I was there, what a beautiful place it is. I also loved Arequipa, did you visit there as well.

Kathy, enjoying your photos. Time on my hands this morning, waiting for my Easter bunny so I did a fast search for information for you.
Wikipedia says national flower of Peru is the cantuta (cantua buxifolia). .. Does that sound right? I espically like the flower and fauna photos of places I shall never see in person. LOVELY photos, thanks for sharing.

Anne, Our two trips up through Machu Picchu were scheduled in the late afternoon & early morning to avoid the larger crowds midday. We felt that we very lucky with the weather since March is still in the rainy season there, but we had only one short spell of rain right before we got on the train back. Rob actually liked the views best in the early morning cloud cover, as in that one photo in particular. It's such a magical feeling being so high up there in the clouds. We did not go to Arequipa.

Miz Tricia - am writing to you here since you don't have your own page (yet??). Thank you for doing my homework for me on the cantuta!! I went to Wikipedia to read more about it & found that the picture there was taken at the same place we took ours! It was at the garden of Korikancha, the Temple of the Sun, in Cusco. That's an interesting story about the Incan legend of the two brothers, too. Glad you referred me there. If you enjoy photos of flora & fauna, just wait until you see the amazing creatures that live in the Galapagos! Will try to get them loaded today.

Posted the message below on Easy last night but decided to repeat it here on my page FYI:
It's 12:18 AM & I have just finished uploading to Flickr some of our chosen photos from Peru. It was hard to pick which to share. We tried to show a variety of things - people, animals, scenery, flowers, etc. The photos will appear in backwards order from how we saw them. I put dates on some but not all & didn't get them all labeled with descriptions. Rob knows much more about Machu Picchu than I do!! Maybe he can add more details tomorrow. But now I am off to bed so I hope the Easter bunny will come by & leave me some chocolate!

Hello Kathy
re: the Avatar pic I sent you. If you try google, images, and type in playing tennis, the pic I used was the first one that came up.
www.rileyhospital.org is the link for it also.
The reason some pictures ie: your tennis ball, come up black after you have tried to re size it, is because some of the pictures have a copyright protection cover on them. So unfortunatly you can't use these and need to keep searching until you find one you can use.
I think Rose, has your email addy, would you mind if she passed it on to me, and I can send you some pictures via email to help you.
Good Luck!

Kathy, just finished viewing your wonderful photos from your tour. They certainly brought back memories. I especially loved seeing your views of Machu Picchu shrouded in mist - the classic view, but very different from the clear weather we experienced in May. I'm so glad you enjoyed your tour.

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for stopping by to admire my brood.
I love breastfeeding for the closeness not to mention the sheer convenience! But I must confess to being totally over the whole express first then feed using a bottle thing. It's taking me more than twice as long to do the whole feeding and I'm exhausted... only 2 and a half weeks to go. Enough whinging.
I hope everything has gone well with your daughter's operation.
