Back at Christmas time I posted the news that grandson Chase was going to become a big brother in July.  I am happy to announce that his baby sister Maddox Ann Martin was born at 6:09 P.M. on July 27, 2015.  She weighed 9 pounds and measured 21 1/4 inches long.  We are thrilled to have a third granddaughter (the others are 19 and 16!) and six grandsons and feel very blessed.

Your Ebony is georgeous! She looks a very cheeky, fun loving little miss! We got our Rosie last September. In 1990, I had gone to the RSPCA to get a cat, and came out with the most precious dog ever put on this earth. (She was the pinup girl on March 17 last year in the tough). (My avatar aged 6)She left us last July, just before her 18th birthday, and we couldn't bear the emptiness. I kept looking at the pets for adoption (http://www.rspcavic.org/) and we saw a black cocker spaniel. As soon as she saw my husband Al, it was love at first sight. She is just such a lovable and loving girl, and walking her is an experience! And laughs just as much as Em did, and is inseparable from Mr Monkey her squeaky toy. From what we can figure from the microchip records, this is at least the 4th home she has lived in, but she is finally home forever now.
May you have a wonderfully long relationship with Ebony!

Ebony is soooo cute. I'm envious. Our dog is in his last few years, and we intend to get our traveling done after that before we get another, but I so love puppies.

Kathy, Beautiful puppy. My puppy sleeps in his cage at night really well. At first it was right beside my bed and I could reach in and touch him every time he cried until he settled down and went to sleep. I usually fell asleep with my hand on him. I got up several times a night when he cried, let him out to do his business and then put him straight back in his crate.(no detours no play). with my hand on him again if needed. Gradually he went longer and longer without crying and by 4 months he was going all through the night. I still have his crate in the bedroom but not beside my bed. Also keep it covered and make sure it is not too big. Hope this helps.

Hey Kathy,

Yep black dogs aren't as photogenic - the eyes don't contrast as much, but the cute pink tongue contrasting against the black fur makes up for it. As well as the bright green tennis ball in against the black. I meant to say Em's photo was on hard on 17 Mar 06. Hope puppy isn't giving you too much strife!

Hello Kathy, thank you for dropping by. Yes, Nuka is still a puppy, she is 5 months old. We went to Calgary to pick her up. The breeder drove down from Edmonton. Amber is 9 years old and Kyle is 18 years old. I have one more boy, all grown up and moved out, Michael is 22. Ebony is a real sweetie, Amber thinks so, too. I hope you have many happy years with her.

Hi Kathy, yes, that is Murphy on my Flickr page. He travels very well, as does Mac, the Maltese(his pix has been on the easy pages). We travel in 2 vehicles, so Murphy travels with my hubby and Mac stays with me. Mac would prefer to be on my lap 24/7, he's really funny. If I sit and he sees that I have a lap, he wants on it. We bought Murphy a pair of doggie goggles (doggles) since he loves to ride in the van with his head and most of his body out the driver's window. we had seen doggles on a pup in New Orleans and have been searching since. You would probably be interested in why Murphy has his name. that will be in another message. it's a quite a story. have a great day.

Thanks for your note Kathy
I just get a bit teary on special occasions. My sons life is there and one can only support and visit when possible.
What do you mean 'walk the course' I walk all the time. Buggy's is very much an American 'thing' I have only used one in S E Asia due to excess heat. Even when I played in the US I walked, much to the amusement of our american opponents.

We have a deviled egg tray that says, ''A kiss without a moustache is like an egg without salt.'' Your comment about a house without a dog reminded me. It will be hard for us after Simon is gone, but we feel bad now when we go off traveling and he's left home alone. Tough either way.

Kathy, what a gorgeous addition to your home. Ebony certainly looks as if she will be a big dog when she grows up. I am glad you enjoyed your trip to Oz and thank you for the comment on my koala photo. It was just basically good luck that it turned out so well. I have never taken the helicopter over the twelve apostles but I am sure it would be a spectacular view. Not much around in the way of flowers at the moment so I have left you a selection of chocolates to enjoy.

I want to say I am a dog person and I love them all. I have four Basset Hounds and usually stay with that breed. Actually, of the four, I have adopted three. Nice to see another dog lover on line.

Thanks for referring me to the Pets' Page; I've checked it out and given a brief bio of our 'family.' Great idea! I love all animals, except reptiles, and go weak at the knees for goats, sheep, horses, dogs, rabbits, koalas, kangaroos ... you get the picture. Have a wonderful weekend, Kathy!

Kathy, I grew up in North Miami Beach and currently live outside Ft. Lauderdale. My husband went to USF. Our(my) yorkie died Jan. 2006 at the age of 15 1/2. I had him before I met my husband. He couldn't see or hear at the end. Rachel was adopted in Sept '05 from the Humane Society. She was a Katrina victim. She took very good care of Beau and was watching over him the night he left us. We all went to sleep and he went peacefully sometime in the night. I came downstairs the next day and Rachel was acting like a guard over him. We had them both for about 5 months and she was always gentle with him. She new he was old. Enjoy your new puppy. She is beautiful and Ebony is a great name. Let me know if you are ever coming down this way.

Kathy, The older one will be 11 in December and the younger one will be 7 in November. The older one is in cast right now. He broke his arm playing kickball in front of our house. Boys will be boys. My mom says I was as much trouble as my older brother. I was a tomboy so I guess I was ready for these two. I enjoy playing with my friends daughters, I get my fill of Barbie that way. Have fun with all the grandkids. I don't have plans to come that way anytime soon, but if you are ever coming to Ft. Lauderdale let me know. My kids like sudoku also. The older one can do the easy 9x9 (with a little help). The younger likes the 4x4.

Hi Kathy, Reggie did graduate from puppy pre-school but we had been having a bit of trouble with him so we called in a dog trainer from the pet store. She helped us with a few ideas - mostly what we already knew. It was good though as the 4 of us were there - so now we all train him the same way.
He does have some bad habits though. He loves to sleep on the couch - put himself to bed on the couch in the study last night.
We have started taking him to the off-leash park and he loves playing with the other dogs. He certainly knows his place in the pack and comes near me when the big dogs get too rough for him.
There were 4 beagles in the park the other day and it was such fun watching them run as a pack.
Next up is the de-sexing in a couple of weeks time.
My MIL came yesterday to visit Reggie - not me, hubby or the boys. She thinks he is wonderful even though he scratched her hand a few weeks back and she needed doctors visits, tetanus shots etc.
I can't believe we waited so long to get a dog. The boys had been at us for years - although Shaun and I would like a cat as well.
Enjoy Ebony - she looks gorgeous - a labrador was my second choice of dogs, but just a bit big for our yard.

Hi, Kathy!
I'll send an e-mail. We just got back from a 1-week cruise from Seattle to Alaska and back. It was fun, but our 2 cats (formerly our daughters') obviously missed us. We always thought we were dog people, but each cat seems to have adopted us.

Three years we were all set to get a Portuguese Water Dog - had even been visiting the puppies since they were a day old. My husband had to have major surgery and had a long recuperation, so 'our' puppy went to a different home. By the time there were more puppies, we had a granddaughter in a rather distant state and realized rather frequent kenneling wouldn't be fair to a puppy.

Ebony is beautiful! I'm sure she'll be a wonderful companion for both of you! Our neighbor has a lab rescue organization, so we see many of the dogs looking for a forever home. It's fun to see and play with them, but we know it's just not the right time for us to adopt one. I hope all the training/adjusting goes smoothly for you and Ebony!

I'm actually not in college yet. I'm a junior at Broughton High School. I'm taking the International Bacculareaute program. Basically, suicide for academics. But UNC loves the IB program and if I load up on sience courses next year and get the IB diploma, I have a good chance of getting into UNC.
Several of my family members have graduated from State, and I'm going to be the first of my family to go to UNC.
I'm really looking into either anesthesiology, or surgery. Those are the things I would like to become the most.
I'm in the marching band at BHS and we got accepted to go to the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena California this New Years. We have a dinner at school for the president of the Rose Bowl, he flew out today specifically to welcome us into the parade. It's going to be a big deal!
I was just in Florida last month. The band trip took us to Disney World for 3 days, but were in Orlando for 4. It wasn't as hot as I remembered.
Now I'm going to solve today's sudoku. Talk to you later!

Well now, You have gotten help from the big guy himself! I dropped by and tried to post to no avail. I had an opportunity to enjoy some of the many pet lovers comments and add my voice to theirs in appreciation for your loving concern about everyone. I had also offered my help if it could be used, but now that Gath has joined in, I'll just wait for the fun to begin....It is addictive and fun. Hope you enjoy!
