Morning all...time will tell whether its good or not.
Nothing much to report...I've been reading and those items that I would have commented on have already been answered so well that I need not try to improve whats already said and done...
I am still in pain, but I know only time will really bring about needed pain free days.
I tried to have my hair done yesterday, I drove myself to the hairdresser, just a couple of miles, and slowly went inside...I lasted for the washing and base coloring, but had to leave before my hair was highlighted, cut or styled, in fact, it was still wet..lol...just in to much pain...My hairdresser drove me home...btw...have I said what a sweetheart of a person my hairdresser is...I know you can tell that I really care for her...
MizT...I feel your pain...but we'll both get pass this...can't keep two good folks down ...we won't stand for it! LOL..
Okay...I've rambled enough...may you all receive the blessings of peace, love and joy and hold them close to your heart, yet gently release them into the world.

Just got a call, the rescue car is running again. Bad alternator, and of course it is more pricey than if Al had bought one and replaced it. but it is done, and we shall go pick it up soon.

I was awake most of the night, but spent most of it in bed. The comfort of lying on my right side, my preferred sleep position, was worth the wakefulness last night. I could lie there and enjoy the bed, first time in a while. Good thing he would only inject one hip, I would have been awake forever.

OH do not get me started, insurance com0anies practicing medicine. I had to phone the doc office this morning, to see if he could call in a substitution for a drug my insurance did not cover. It is an antispasmodic, for the IBS. AND he figured out a way to get me to take a cholesterol drug. This is also an acid reducer, what it does is use the body's cholesterol to bind some of the bile acid and eliminate it, doing two things I need doing with one very cheap drug. It was less than my co pay for generic drugs, so very cheap. It is the statin drugs I will not take, the benefits do not outweigh the risks for me.

MAMA, good to see you back posting. No need to comment on each post while you are recovering, just drop in to let us know how you are doing.

I am getting sleepy, Perhaps I can get a nap today.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

The grandies are having friends over after supper and they were told to clean their rooms. The oldest said, "But we need help." I said, "You made the mess all by yourself, you should be able to clean it by yourself." She said, "We made the mess over more than one day. We can't clean it all in one day." How can you argue with that logic?

It's been a hot, humid day here today, and I'm tired. I had to get the lawn mower repaired 'cause the belt broke. We got some hay moved off the field as well. Unfortunately, my back hurts and the pain management clinic rescheduled my epidural from next Wednesday to August 1st.

Morning all - hope all with aches and pains (Mamacita, MizT and Heidi) are pain-free sooner rather than later.
Tami - good TOPP quote. You gave me laugh this morning. Col said to me 'Who's Tami, one of your Sudoku friends? I said 'yes, why' and he said 'she wants to be friends with me because she needs more people to poke!' I laughed so much. Notice he accepted? He'll poke back, be warned.

Good Luck Forever Archie!

Todays treats and tricks.

I had a lovely 2 hour nap, tummy is feeling a lot better.

My car had another flat tire, this time the spare went flat. Noticed as we started to pick up the rescue car. OK, car with no spare, flat at home, Al trying to plug the puncture an the tire on the car, rain started, car would not start for a while, he got overheated, not a happy camper.

Neighbor to the rescue, drove AL up to pick up the car. It was more than Al thought it would cost, but it is repaired.

My box fan I use to move air conditioned air about the house stopped today. Al was to get another while out, he remembered when he got home.

It is still raining.

My hip is soooo much better, back pain down, the doc was able to order me a drug that insurance will pay, but I did not get to pick it up today.

Some days you win, some days you loose, some days are just rained out!

Gekko and Good Evening, Friends! Woo Hoo! I've managed to get here before 10:00 p.m.!

Brenda, I agree with your TOPP! I also like the quote about happiness from Aldous Huxley!

MizT, what a great explanation of what you and Al have been through. I'm sure it helped Suzanne, and it also refreshed our memories on all you two have dealt with. He has come a long way and made a lot of progress!

Hooray, Heidi! You and Challenger got out with the buggy today!

Suzy, it sounds like Alie is quite protective of her new guitar! Has she named it? Was the changed look of Forever Archie members planned for a while - or somewhat spontaneous? I'm enjoying my mental picture of you typing with fingerless gloves on. I tend to forget that many of you do not have central heat as we do here.

June and Suzy, cats can be such finicky eaters, can't they? I suppose if a favored food just doesn't get served, eventually they will eat what is available.

Theresa, what a long day you have had! Were you able to get something to eat at some point while waiting for another test. How frustrating the whole experience must have been We're here for you, Sweetie, during the long wait for results and beyond! (We're also better than hard waiting-room chairs. Of course, we are all convinced that there is nothing to be concerned about!

Cyn, I'm so glad to hear that your Mum had a good night in her new room. I "Liked" that you tried to post a comment by pressing "enter" - something that I suspect has happened to many of us - at least once!

Judy, hooray for your new back fence!

MizT, you have described a very difficult and trying day in a rather light manner. You must have been extremely frustrated! The good news is that you were both able to get back home, find a comfy chair, and relax! I hope you were able to get a good night's sleep!

Suzy, the 2 photos 30 years apart are quite touching. Thanks for sharing.

Cyn, it seems that the circumstances around the new fence worked out beautifully!

Tami, hooray for just 1 more week of summer school! And then 2 more weeks of your additional "son." Too bad there will only be 1 week of relaxation with little or nothing planned before you must go back to school!

Great TOPP for page 153, Tami!

Suzanne, so glad you had a good night's sleep! Especially with a couple of busy days ahead!

Mamacita, you were brave to try for the hairdresser's appointment! What a great hairdresser to have to be understanding . . . and to drive you home! I hope the healing process is a quick one and you soon have no more pain!

MizT, I'm glad the rescue car is fixed, but so sorry that it could have been done more economically if Al had done it. Hooray for being able to find a comfortable position in bed, even if you weren't able to sleep! Hooray for the doc who figured out a way to work around the insurance company! (BTW, I know what you mean about statin drugs. My doc put me on them a couple of years ago. I developed so many symptoms & complaints - didn't at first connect them to the statin drug. Two months on, and told him I don't ever want to be on them again!) I hope you were able to get a great nap today!

Theresa, great logic from the grandie! I totally understand her frustration! Was she able to get her room cleaned!

Heidi, too bad you and Challenger weren't able to get out today for another ride! Also, it's too bad that the lawnmower needed repairs. Unfortunate that the pain management clinic decided to postpone your epidural another 2 weeks. We'll be thinking positive thoughts for you!

MizT, another flat tire? There must have been something on the road! I hope your days and nights will at least be cool-ish until you're able to replace the box fan!

I can barely keep my eyes open, so it's time to say good night! Thinking of all of you with positive thoughts and prayers, {{{{HUGS}}}} and

I have made a tuna mornay with vegetables for dinner. It had to be something I could take in the car and also something Laura will eat. Her father will not be home and we have to be out early in the morning (so did not want her to stay here) so we have to organise dinner and then Laura's bath and bed.

Hi everyone! Hugs to all who need them ... ♥
Well, a very busy day today - Rob wanted to go for a walk (latest health check was not quite as good as it should be ... ) It was a beautiful day in old Melbourne, sun shining and everything pretty - walked for nearly an hour and it was very nice. BUT today was the day we used my birthday present from my baby girl ... a chocolate "degustation" from a very trendy shop in Fitzroy ... oh boy! it was delicious! Six little handmade chockies, a glass of red wine (lucky Rob got 2!), vanilla bean icecream with warm chocolate sauce and a prize-winning chocolate macaroon! Yum! So what's for dinner tonight ... NOT very much!
Tomorrow we're off to the country to mind Mum while my brother takes a day off. Hope the weather stays reasonably nice for him (and us!)

Morning all.

Doctor's office phoned yesterday and the results were in (in one day!) - not such great news. I have to go to a cardiologist because one of my arteries is quite blocked near the heart. Cardiologist will know if stent is required at this time or not. Two new meds added, one of which is nitro which I have to keep with me at all times. Yesterday was a bit of a blur as I think I was in a stunned shock. Feeling down in the dumps a bit - when did I get so old? I'm going to "need" you people more than ever now as I HAVE to quit smoking. I think I've determined that August 1 is my quit date. I'm feeling very overwhelmed at the moment.

Thanks for listening to me. The news could have been a lot worse, so I am thinking of this as a wake up call. I have no right to say "why me".

Sorry to hear the news, Theresa. These days, tho', stents are routine. Don't worry. You'll be OK.
It's not that hard to quit smoking. I did it cold turkey after 28 years of smoking. The 3rd to 7th days are the worst. Just have a substitution, like tootsie roll pops, handy. The sooner you quit, the better. Don't postpone it for another 2 1/2 weeks. That'll just encourage you to keep putting it off. Do it NOW. And use all of your will-power.

Oh Theresa, I'm sorry the news wasn't what any of us wanted to hear, but you are right...it is a wake up call! I'm not sure I agree with Heidi when she says stopping smoking isn't hard..I found it most difficult...but I do agree that setting a date so far in the future isn't the smartest thing to do, although I understand how comforting a cigarette is in times of stress and concern...yet its these battles that keep us smoking and need to be interrupted...I did everything from over smoking(one ciggy after another)hypnosis, setting future dates, using fake cigarettes,etc....but when I knew it MUST BE DONE ONCE AND FOR ALL, I went cold turkey! It took more than one attempt...but if you fall down, just stop again..it can be done.I have not smokeded for almost 30 years, after smoking for 30 years..I now find it sad when I see others smoking because most will suffer in some way, and that's hard...Good Luck, and we're here to try and help...but you CAN DO IT!

Hi every one...sorry to get on my soap box and forget my manners...
Suzy...thanks for checking in about the girls...I was waiting for the news. I agree with Judy, the manager may have had to report his findings and observations to someone else before approaching the girls with any word, but I'm glad they were able to really do well...that will come in handy as they do more and more performing.
MizT...hoping all of the cars will soon be in full working order and your wallets survive the cost of getting them there...but am glad you are feeling better, and your Doctor found a way around the insurance meddlers.
We seem to be going through lots of pain and challenges lately...but knowing this group...we'll all come out far better for the struggles...meanwhile find whatever joy you can and celebrate while you can! It's all good...even when we think its not! Peace.

Woo Hoo! I have managed to get here in the afternoon! Greetings to All!

June, I'm so glad you could find something that Laura will eat and can be transported! I hope your day, evening and night go well!

Suzy, I'm so glad the girls did well, and it is quite possible the manager was present for the performance, as others said.

Judy, enjoy your busy day! A walk is a great way to start the day! The special treat afterwards sounds wonderful. I think it may have put everyone in a temporary sugar shock.

Theresa, we're here for you as you quit smoking and deal with some changes in your lifestyle! I applaud that you have decided you will quit smoking, but would also like to see you move the date closer. Remember, "today is the first day of the rest of your life!" It may be hard for a while, but you are an amazingly strong woman, as we have learned by all the things you do for others. This will be for you - and your hubby, D, SIL and grandies. You can DO it!

So glad to see you, Nola! You quit smoking at a stressful time. It probably would have been easy to give yourself some leeway and excuses for waiting until later.

Mamacita, you do such a good job of providing encouragement for others! I hope your pain has lessened!

Heidi, thanks for the link to the owl nest box!

Thinking of all of you! I know this is a group of strong women (and an occasional visit from Steve) who can meet whatever is sent their way and often overcome it! You all ROCK! Hang in there and enjoy each day as it comes!

I hope to pop in later, but for now have a lot of ffuts that needs to be done.

TAMI, that is fast reading, young lady. Those are long books. Did you take out time to sleep? I just got the last one from library today, Clan of the Painted Caves. I am about 50 pages in. sure wish I had this book the night I could not sleep.

Theresa, sorry to know your tests were not the "no problems" kind of results we were looking for, but what if you had not had these tests done? what if that blockage went undetected? It is a good thing it was found, you just changed your future by having those tests.

Only way I would be understanding of your August 1 quit date is if you intend to reduce your number of cigs a day each day till then. That is what Al had to do, and when it got to the end, he never had another. I just quit, cold turkey. My advise? Keep your hands busy. I embroidered flower blocks for a quilt. I smoked menthol so I bought menthol cough drops, I think I was as addicted to the menthol as the cigarettes.

When do you see the cardiologist?

Hugs, sweetie, and remember we are here for you. You want to smoke? Come talk to us, make the computer a NO SMOKING zone. It is really better for your computer

Do you remember me talking about my crepe myrtle and how something had eatch every dud fore it opened? Well, I looked outside a couple days ago (we do not go in and out the front door) and it is in full bloom! More blooms than it has ever had. such big full blooms the branches are bending under the weight. Now I knew that a crepe myrtle had secondary buds of leaves (buds too) for when a late frost got it, but I did not think it might could tap into just a secondary bud system. This plant is so keen on reproducing, on propagating the species. It did a self diagnosis and found it had not made one seed, and went into high gear, to give a great show of blooms. I am really tickled!

Time to fling food. Not really hungry, I had a nice vegetable plate for lunch while I was out today. I think perhaps just a sandwich tonight.

Hugs to each of you, with special for June, and for Theresa and others I know need mentioning. hope to be back later, but if I am not, know I have my nose in my book.
