Just got back from a 3 hour buggy ride. I forgot to bring a drink along and got really hot, tho'.

Tricia, I have always been a fast reader. I could go through 3 or 4 books a week when I was younger. I would read instead of doing my homework. I only have one student now and she is working on her own and just asks me questions when she needs to. I brought the book and had 4 hours to read in the morning. I have already started book 2 and it is just as good as book one.

I've gone back a couple of pages because I knew I missed commenting on several things I wanted to - read and thought, but didn't comment. I don't like doing that so I'm trying to fix it.

Mamacita, I'm so sorry the pain was so bad at the hairdresser! I think I love your hairdresser! Hope you get back to get the job finished soon, mostly because that means you are feeling a little better...

Theresa, you made me laugh when I read 'we made the mess over more than one day'. Logic at its 'I don't want to do this' best!! And now I've reached the update on your test results and I've sobered up. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} All will be good because they caught it before you had a problem caused by it! The quit smoking programs say to pick a date just like you did. I think you are taking the right approach. Cutting down is not always a good idea either, as when you have a smoke you just inhale more deeply and so do more damage. I think MizT's suggestion about keeping your hands busy is probably the best.

Heidi, I'm sorry the clinic rescheduled your pain shot. People with chronic pain really get the short end of the stick (where does that expression come from?) Wish I could watch the nest, but I'm already at 79% of my allowance and it's only the 17th of the month.

MizT, the car expenses are definitely something you don't need right now! I hope this work you've had done means both will be more reliable for a while.. Your crepe myrtle sounds beautiful! I get you take the front door more often while it is in bloom!

June, I don't know what to say - more {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

Judy, it's just as well you went for a walk, that chocolate "degustation" sounds incredibly decadent, and very delicious! I hope the health news wasn't too bad - cyber hugs and thoughts going your way.

Big scary band outside just now! Nothing following so all must be good.

And now I'm going to have to reread the first clan book and read all of the others!

Good morning all
Theresa - sorry the news wasn't as good as we all hoped. As someone said, insertion of a stent is fairly routine these days so I hope all goes well for you. Good luck with quitting smoking. Motivation and determination will help there. I'm sure you can do it.
Other than that I won't weigh into the debate, being a smoker myself, having no plans in the near future to quit and making no apologies for it.

There are benefits to smoking, as well as risks. Smoking can be very soothing and calming. I'd still be smoking, but I woke up one day and had an epiphany. I realized that I was spending more money on cigarettes than on dog food for my then 18 collies. I realized that if I quit smoking, the money I saved would more than pay for the dog food. So I quit then and there.

We're here for you Theresa. ♥

I love the idea of SA being a smoke-free zone. I gave up many years ago, using the cold turkey approach. It was incredible, I remember thinking one day as I reached for my packet, 'I don't want to smoke any more!' I threw the packet on top of the fridge and walked away, no regrets. I never has urges or anything, though I will confess to later being a social smoker, I would bott a smoke off friends if I was having a drink, but that did not last for long, and I never had the urge to take it up again.

I just had a nasty shock. Dennis was barking in the garage, so I went out to see what had upset him. He was standing next to his sister, Coffee, who had just passed away.

Good Evening, Everybody! Hooray, I made it back tonight!

MizT, some good advice for Theresa on the quitting smoking! Theresa, you can do it and we can help by encouraging you and offering suggestions and support!

I had to go to Mr. Google to look at images of crepe myrtle, MizT. What color/colors of blossoms do you have! What a pleasant surprise to go out the door and be welcomed by all of the blossoms! Are the flowers fragrant?

Heidi, I imagine both you and Challenger were hot after a 3 hour ride! Hopefully you have both cooled off by now!

Tami, I think I need to get the Clan books from our library, but they need to wait until after the wedding! You are definitely a fast reader!

Gail, I like your idea of SA being a smoke-free zone, but only if we don't lose any regulars who would abandon us instead of their cigarettes! As MizT suggested, keeping hands busy can be a big help, and typing comments can certainly help keep the hands busy!

Oh, Heidi, I am so sorry! I have just read your post about Coffee. This obviously was unexpected, so she must have been healthy up to the end. I can certainly imagine your shock, but good for Dennis for letting you know. {{{{HUGS}}}} to you, dear! I certainly hope the rescue leader has decided that Timmy can stay with you!

Clarification here. When I mentioned that SA was a smoke free zone, I meant for Theresa, to help her quit. I was not saying others who do smoke cannot smoke while online if they so choose.

Heidi, sorry to hear about Coffee. Has this sudden death happened to other of your geriatrics? Like Julie said, she must have been getting along OK till her death. Do dogs have heart attacks? Do you have your own pet cemetery on the property? Poor Denis, he was obviously upset at the death.

Julie, I do not think the crepe myrtles have scent. I have 2 of them, the tall 20 foot kind and I do not prune them back as some people do crepe myrtles. If you want a short shrub, buy a variety that does not grow as tall is my belief.

One of my trees is stunted where it is planted, or else the friend I got them from mislabeled it, it is only about 8 feet tall. NOPE, we still will not go in and out the front door when leaving, we must park in the back, driveway is a bit steep in front. But I do go out to the front deck just to look at them, cannot see from my chair when I have the door open. I do love these plants, they bloom in late June, July and early August, when not much else is in bloom here in the hot and sunny south.
http://www.thegardenfairies3.com/crapemyrtle.htm

Scroll down to the white one, mine is like that, many trunked, tall and almost weeping now, bending under the weight of the huge blooms, biggest blooms ever.

Way past my bed time. I took my "bedtime" meds to late, since I now have one that is taken 2 hours past any other meds, as it can alter absorption of other meds. Bedtime meds now are taken 2 hours fore I can take this last one and go to sleep. Pills pills pills, I got all mine in, then realized I had not crushed and mixed Al's. So good night folks, hugs and good wishes to all.

SA is a smoke-free zone for me. I haven't smoked in the house or car since my grandson was born nearly 13 years ago. So don't worry, I'm not puffing smoke into my screen at you.

Bowled in the mixed pairs competition this morning and won. We played against a couple who won against us last year. My back was aching so much it took me all my time to finish the game. (With pain killers and 'pain away' cream and spray).
Since coming home I have slept the afternoon and evening away.
Heidi, sorry to hear about coffee.

School back tomorrow but a pupil free day. I have just had a phone call to go get Laura or go to look after her at home. I was hoping to do a lot of gardening in the morning. It is our green bin collection and I do have a lot of weeds that need removing.

Morning all. Thank you all for the kind thoughts, support and suggestions. Suzy is right about setting a date for smoking cessation - it's the right thing for me at this time. I need to get into a healthy eating routine before I quit.

I am thinking of you all, but frankly my new heart med is making me groggy and fatigued. My legs feel like big blocks of cement. I got a few groceries yesterday, changed one bed, did one load of laundry and that was it. I didn't even do the dishes! Woke up this morning after 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep only to feel tired and heavy in the legs again. I'm just going to do what my body tells me to do until the "newness" of the med wears off.

Heidi, so sorry about Coffee. Please give Dennis a big nuzzle from me.

Love ya all. HUGS

Condolences Heidi...Bravo Dennis!
Morning to all...may it be better than good for you and if its approaching the later hours, please find joy in those.
I'm feeling much better, the pain has greatly
subsided, and movement is easier, but I continue the meds as instructed.
May we all enjoy the unexpected blooms that come our way even if we can't quite smell the sweet fragrance that accompanies them. Peace.

Coffee had been showing her age recently, and was having a lot of problems getting around. She didn't have the strength to stand up if she was laying down for a while, for instance, and I would have to pick her up. I had a feeling that her time was close. I suspect that she had congestive heart failure. She also had some spinal problems. Old age is a pain. Her brother Dennis is having vision problems, as well as some hearing difficulties. The hearing is actually a mixed blessing. Thunder isn't as loud for him anymore, and he's stopped panicking.

Good Morning Nola.. aren't you up very early today? Hope you can enjoy your guests, and there is time to rest and recover before any others arrive.

June, will it be easier for all once Laura is back in school? Hugs to you dear. And congrats on winning at bowls. You get better soon also. Thank goodness for modern pharmaceuticals!

Mama, glad your pain is better now. Hope you are soon mended and back to normal.

Theresa, I do hope you soon grow accustomed to your meds. Yes, listening to your body till you do is a very good idea. Did you say when you will see the cardiologist??

Yes MizT, Nola was up way toooo early! Hope the visitors enjoy their stay Nola.

I feel like cr*p. Isn't it just the pits when you have a lousy night's sleep but you have to get up early anyway. Hannah goes back to school today, so hopefully I can come home and grab a couple more hours.

Pupil free day here Gail! I don't have to get Alie up early until tomorrow!! It felt good to make my coffee this morning knowing that!

Theresa, those meds sound like the perfect cure for ffuts! Listening to you body sounds like a good idea to me too.

Nola is always up way too early! Did you have to work today Nola? Although we have room our house isn't set up well for visitors to stay. I'll have to get on that. When I get more work, I'll have more money for it.

MizT, when Laura is back in school I think June will get to drive her to after school activities...

Yummy dinner Theresa! We'll be having more stuff like that because Alyssa is trying vegetarianism again (Is that a word?) I've bought the multi-vitamins, veges, fruit and vege patties. Hopefully we can keep her healthy. It was going to happen, one of her band mates is vegan, the other is vegetarian with a nagging vegan sister (taking honey from bees is stealing! Don't you feel horrible eating something stolen?)

Which reminds me, a guy has subscribed to my youtube channel and, based on the comment he made, he's not a friend of the girls, probably just googled the song they covered. He thinks they sing quite good, and they are all really cute. lol

Good Evening, Fellow Sudokuaholics!

Looking through posts on this page. Apparently my last comment didn't post last night - or I was too tired and forgot to click on "Submit Comment." Ooops!

MizT, thanks for the link to your crepe myrtle. Very beautiful, especially with lots of blooms. It is probably not hardy this far north, as I don't believe I've seen it before. Good luck getting used to a bit altered meds schedule! it can be tricky fitting them all in!

Heidi, special {{{HUGS}}} for you and Dennis! RIP Coffee! Were Dennis and Coffee close? Is it likely that he will mourn her loss?

June, congratulations on your win at bowls, in spite of an aching back! Well done! I hope you enjoyed the win! I hope you are able to work out a suitable arrangement for Laura, whether at your house or hers! I also hope you can get some of the weeding done and removed! How often is the green bin collection? We have "yard waste" pick-up once a week from about mid-April until about the end of October, then once about the second week of January (to pick up Christmas trees).

Theresa, you're probably right that you need to get used to your new meds and get started on the "eating right" portion of your health care. I recently read about stents. Some doctors advocated improved health lifestyle changes and exercise, rather than immediately going to the stent, if there were no other symptoms. I hope your adjustment to the meds happens quickly!

Mamacita, what a relief to hear that your pain is subsiding! I love how you can take our situations and make them into uplifting ideas, as evidenced by your comment about enjoying the "unexpected blooms that come our way even if we can't quite smell the sweet fragrance that accompanies them." I have forgotten, were you an English/literature/composition teacher?

Nola, seems you were up early today! It can't be because you are hoping to get ffuts done around the house before the mid-day heat! I hope you are sleeping well and enjoy the rellies and friends as they pass through Chez Nola!

Happy back-to-school day for Hannah! Gail, I hope you find time for a nap/rest as the day progresses!

Theresa, I hope the thunderstorm helped to cool things off! Veggie stir fry sounds like a nice healthy meal! I hope you feel better each day! Take care of yourself, please!

Suzy, good look with Alie and vegetarianism. D basically became a vegetarian while in high school when she discovered that much/all of her stomach trouble/pain was due to eating meat. She is still a vegetarian. One of the choices for main course for the wedding is tofu.

Rolanda, you are making progress in the renovation/painting/upgrading of Chez Rolanda! Good for you! And a weekend without computer! That's dedication to the cause! Good luck to S#2 on his first day at his new job! I hope it is the job of his dreams!
