Hi all!
Graduation finally happened on Tuesday. Shaun was about the 10th person to get his degree and Aki came along just after him. We then sat through the next 2 hours of presentations and guest speakers until it finished.
Poor Aki's family don't speak English at all, so they had a lovely snooze while it was all going on.
We are all going out for dinner tonight (seafood) so that will be interesting. Aki will be translating back and forth for us all. She was telling me this morning about watching my mother and her grandfather walking and talking together after the graduation and neither one understanding each other but that didn't matter.
Family surpasses all boundaries!

Shaun took them all to Byron Bay for a whale watching cruise yesterday. They did see one whale so it wasn't a waste of time. I'm not sure why they just didn't go out into Moreton Bay instead. That would have been a 30 minute drive not two plus hours each way.
The family are going back to Japan on Saturday and Aki may need to go with them if she can't sort out her visa which expires on Sunday.
I really missed her when she was gone. It's lovely having her in the house again. I can hear Shaun and her chatting away in the mornings and evenings. Reg the dog really missed her too. He kept looking for her after she left and gave her a very vocal greeting when she returned. He's gone back to being her shadow.

I've just got back from the hairdresser. Not very happy, nothing wrong with the hairdresser or how she had cut my hair, I have seen for the first time that I have a bald patch on the back of my neck.

Almost forgot my daily anecdote, slightly distracted...

A teacher approached me to ask if he could take all or a part of my year 10 science lesson to discuss subject choices for years 11 and 12. I eagerly agreed! The reason I was eager became quickly apparent when 2 of my students proceeded to wrestle, knocking over chairs and into other students. Others called out in loud, coarse voices - why are thy are in our class? What's happening? Why are they in here? Still others arrived late and didn't want to sit on the right hand side of the room with the goody two shoes so dragged their chairs, noisily, to the other side of the room. The wrestlers were kicked out of the room. They caused so much trouble out there that the head teacher asked if they could come back in. They couldn't help themselves and, although they weren't wrestling, they were defiant and did the opposite to what they were asked to do.

In other words, they acted exactly as they do for me - for an experienced teacher!! In other words, it's not just me and my inexperience... phew!

Did everybody see Ganniemo's post on easy yesterday?

All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

Rest In Peace Sharon.

Sympathy to all the family, especially June, Ken, Laura and Belinda.

Remembrance is a golden chain
Death tries to break, but all in vain.
To have, to love, and then to part
Is the greatest sorrow of one's heart.
The years may wipe out many things
But some they wipe out never.
Like memories of those happy times
When we were all together.

June, may the sweet memories of Sharon be with you to ease the grief you feel at this time. If you need to talk about Sharon and share those memories, I am sure we all here on SA would be honored to listen.

Rest in Peace Sharon. June, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, my heart aches for little Laura.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered “come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Thank you all for your wonderful words. The love and friendship from all my sudoku friends is unmeasurable.
I will print out these pages and keep them always.
I also have many great friends and neighbours. One that came in last night brought a large pot of chicken noodle soup and just put it on my cook top!It was a busy evening with visitors and phone calls.
A pill gave me 4 hours sleep, but all that soup woke me up to escape!
It was also nice to see Bean, Stella and others visit these pages with words for me. It was great catching up with all their doings.

Bean thanks for the beautiful posting shared...we all need to be reminded that death is simply another part of life..reserved for those who have been selected by our LORD above in HIS time.

June and family, and SA family, We now have another angel in our mist that we can call by name...Sharon!
She walks in peace and tranquility surrounded by beauty, knowing that those of us left behind will carry the heavy lifting together when necesary and will all be reunited one day!
Peace to all of all on this day when we might follow the teachings that we should cry when one comes into this world full of strife and smile when one is able to leave it behind for a far better place. For the non-believer...perhaps acceptance that the strife is over may be enough! Whatever we feel, honor the Beginning and the End!
