Nice thoughts Tami. laura has choice for lunch. She thinks that there is only one place to go to celebrate birthdays. Thanks for the Birthday Wishes. At least I am not starting the day in hospital like last year.

Brenda, I downloaded a few books from ereaderiq.com the other night. I've read one (chicklit) and have a couple waiting. I've also downloaded the Anne of Green Gables series from gutenberg.org - all these books are no longer subject to copy right so there's all the older books e.g. Jane Austen, some Agatha Christie etc.
The problem with kindles in Australia is that we don't have an au site so everthing from Amazon is either UK or US and that means converting funds and their associated fees.
I'm going to buy a gift card and can then buy my books using the card so I only have one set of fees instead of multiples for every book.

Sorry everyone, I'm being very rude.

Good Morning all! I hope you have a wonderful day. It's nearly time to get hubby out of bed and get this day underway. The dog has been out and is now on my bed dozing with hubby.

Hi eaa, great to see you dropping in.

Tami, I hope you have a lovely time tonight.

Vici, good idea about the gift card, if I ever get a kindle I'll remember that

MizT, I would love to take Scooter too, he sound like a gorgeous cat, unfortunately for him to travel internationally would probably mean quarantine :(

Woo Hoo! Tami gets a three day weekend and a date night!
eaa, great to see you pop in.
Got the rest of the steel for the carport repairs yesterday and is painted, waiting on my helper RussT to help install the supports, then I can dig out the rest of the wood rot and repair it. Lawns are mowed today, Bella and I have been for a walk...not bad considering it is only 10am here.

Hello, Everyone!

June, I hope you have had an absolutely wonderful and special day! Happy Birthday! Something sweet for a real sweetie! I hope everyone enjoys lobster! (Shouldn't you get to pick, since it's your birthday?)

Suzy asked if I have been practicing the cello. Here is the boring answer: That is a big YES! My teacher has been in Korea teaching this week, so I didn't have a lesson but got time to try to perfect some of the pieces. Last week she suggested occasionally playing quite fast - a way to check on memorization and see if things are becoming more automatic. The trouble is that my playing then gets sloppy, especially when changing from playing on one string to another. But it seems like the memorization has improved. I usually practice for about 45 minutes and try to fit in a second practice when I can.

Broni, I hope the new job is going well! Remember to make some time for yourself, not just work and repairs on the house!

So it looks like Kindle and Sony e-reader so far. Does anyone have a Nook? Does it take a long time to download a book? I have seen on Amazon that sometimes an e-book is available for a title in addition to actual physical books.

MizT, it's a good idea to get to know your phone! Some of them can do a lot! Perhaps Scooter will enjoy sitting in your lap as you try it the many features? What a poor lonely kitty she must have been! We have a clock radio and schedule it to turn on to a talk-radio station a couple of times a day while we are gone. Yes, kitties can certainly feel lonely! I hope she will regain her confidence soon! Maybe Roger and Ed can do some visiting while you are there so that she sees you are comfortable with them and maybe she will also become more comfortable with them.

Gail, what a lot you have accomplished in redoing the K room! How nice that Pepper Steak and home-grown veggies are being prepared in it!

Brenda, good for you for finding that you can download free books for your Kindle! And thanks for sharing for anyone else who might have or might be considering getting one!

Tami, I hope you got lots of great stuff with your free shopping trip! Have a great weekend!

Cyn, what a busy weekend and week you have planned! Remember to catch your breath occasionally amidst all that hectic activity!

Heidi, I hope you stayed warm when you went out to feed hay to the calves. Have you separated out the ones that you'll be taking to the sale barn on Monday morning?

Thanks for a great TOPP, Tami! "Tami the TOPPmaker!"

Vicki, I hadn't thought about the hassle of changing funds to purchase reading material for Kindle! The gift card approach seems genius!

WOW! What a thrill to see eaa back! I haven't seen much of her on the other site either! eaa, you have been missed, as well as your sense of humor and spelling tricks! Please remember to visit somewhat regularly! So sorry that we missed your birthday, even though you aren't going to have an

No surprise here - my comment didn't fit again:

So sorry, eaa, that we missed your birthday, even though you aren't going to have any more! If you'll notice, I didn't leave a cake for you.

Broni, I'm glad you have a helper - seems like another big project you're working on!

Mama, I hope all's well in your humble abode! How are your grandie and Ezra?

Suzy, unfortunately, overweight is a problem here, as well. I love that your phone decided to say you are overwrought. For those of us facing the problem, we can now say we are overwrought about being overweight!

I should get to bed, as I need to get up and spend 2+ hours donating platelets and red blood cells tomorrow morning.

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers and for everyone!

Had a lovely lunch and Laura enjoyed her lobster. I had 1/2 dozen natural oysters, then Filet Mignon. We came home for pressies and cake (my neighbour made and iced a carrot cake-- Laura added the candles) and coffee.
Laura has now gone home so I can put away dolls, pram, cot, etc and finish clearing out the pantry!
Thank you all for all the birthday wishes. They really make the day extra special.

I'm feeling a bit more relieved. I convinced IH that we should have the Vet put the 2 Great Pyrenees sheep killers down, instead of us doing it. Instead, we're gonna load up some calves this afternoon and take them to the sale barn. I can stop at Wally World on the way back for some grocery shopping. There's a Wally World less than a mile from the stockyard.

You haven't broken anything......... for a change.
IH wants to lock up the calves in the feedlot himself (lure them in with feed) then we're gonna sort out 6 or 7 and load them into my trailer, then off I go. I hope the line won't be as long as last week.
