It's nearly time to go home. I hope it takes less time than the 1hr 25mins it took to get here this morning. I just love traffic accidents that cause those sorts of delays. By the time I got to the site there was nothing there - not even any broken glass - so why was it all sooo slow. Bl00dy rubberneckers!
Good evening/night all!

Good night Julie!

Broni, I hope she has backed off now. Hide as thick as a rhinoceros!

Vicki, it's funny you say that... have you been here when I've complained about being told what to do and going all passive-aggressive?

When my mom was ill during the three years before her passing, my brother would pop in now and then. He lived about an 8 hour drive away, would pop in and visit her for about 10 minutes and say how he couldn't stand to see her like that, he wanted to remember her the way she was. It used to annoy the heck out of me because my sisters and I had to constantly deal with it. You can pick your friends, but not your family. I haven't seen or heard from him for about 5 years I guess and although he's my only brother, I don't miss him. My oldest sister keeps in touch with him and lets me know how he's doing. It's sad how some family members are. I remember doing a sudoku or jigsaw a while back and there was a door banner that said something like Friends Welcome, Relatives Make An Appointment. That says it all for me.

Yes, I'm up. It's just after 2:30 AM and I couldn't sleep. Canada lost the hockey game, I believe the score was 5-3. Oh well, hopefully we'll do better against Germany next.
My MIL made the female members of the family sit down a few years back and she made a list of what we would all like to get from her house. I found it a bit gruesome, but now we all know where we stand. Besides that, we are a friendly bunch and I don't believe there would be any arguments (famous last words ???). I can't even remember what I said I would like. They are in their 80's and living on their own. They both have mobility problems ... my husband goes there every Sunday to help out and visit. They live about an hour's drive away. My SIL lives next door to them, so she gets the brunt of most of the problems. My MIL is wonderful, but she's also stubborn. She has been like a second mother to me over the years. My parents are both gone and it's hard to watch the same story being played out with my inlaws now.

Theresa, I have a movie that I put on when I can't sleep. I'm usually asleep within 5 minutes! On really bad nights I play it all night long - which just goes to show what a wonderful hubby I have!!

You do have a wonderful hubby, Suzy. I would love to listen to music when I'm in bed, but my husband likes it absolutely quiet when he's sleeping. I suffer from insomnia now and then, but because I work from home I can grab a nap during the daytime as needed. I "should" be working right now, but I just love catching up with the Sudoku family (much easier to get along with than real family at times).

Theresa, we had relatives who used to come and stay with us a few times a year. We had so much fun! When my father died (I was 16, my youngest brother 10) they stopped coming - it was a horrible reminder for them. They never stopped to think what that meant to us. I try to remember that stuff so I don't make the same mistakes...

People can be so disappointing at times, Suzy. A friend of mine used to say, "I love the human race, it's most of the people in it that I can't stand." I like to say the more I get to know some people the more I like my cats.

Theresa you made me laugh out loud with that last comment. Hope you have a thick skin??

Because the way you said "I like to say the more I get to know some people the more I like my cats".... do you mean us hehe!!?

Please take this as funny.

Broni, I did take that as funny. I mean of course present company (aka sudoku family) excepted. I am the type of person who says things, in all innocence, that can have a double meaning (naughty meaning) and then blush furiously when I realize my blunder. But yes, my skin is thick and I can be teased quite easily. I am also fairly naive for someone my age and will believe almost anything you tell me. I guess gullible is my middle name.

Vicki, that is one of my life mottos too, 'Why worry about something if there's nothing you can do about it'! I see no sense in giving myself an ulcer worrying about something I have no control over.
My other one is 'It is what it is'. Sounds simple but it has got me through many tough situations.

Hubby heard an 'interesting' story today. He had to go out to a house to take water samples as the older couple who live there were complaining that their water has a funny taste. (They fill their kettle from the hot water tap - duh! Loaded with zinc!). One of his workmates, an engineer, is from Nepal. He went out to a home one time for a similar complaint. He tasted the water and couldn't taste anything wrong. Of course you can't, the householders said, you're from a third world country.....

"It is what it is" and "life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved" are both good mottos. I'll have to remember those. Thanks.
Well, it's just after 4:30 AM, so I'm off to do some stuff (lunches, feed cats, etc.) and then take a wee bit of a nap yet again. Hopefully I'll get to catch up with you later.

The beach opened so I was able to plaster myself with black mud, let it dry and then have another dip in the Dead Sea. We do have some photos but I have not looked at them yet. Not sure i want too.
I did not find floating comfortable. Your legs bob up with the boancy, you have to keep your head out of the water(yesterday I put my head back and got my hair wet and the salt water went in my eyes, boy it stung). You all know where my centre of gravity then becomes and that tended to go a bit below the water.!!!!!!!
Anyway it was still fun and I have now had a good showerto remove the last of the mud.

We will have the internet on again in Bangkok. I do love my new little notebook. A good investment.

When my mother was in a nursing home my brother lived less than a mile from her and he never went to visit, neither did his wife. His wife was my best friend and my parents treated her like a second daughter, so her not visiting really made me mad.
It is snowing here again, don't think it will stay around long as it is very wet, but still cold and miserable.

Mizt, hope your daughter's health is improving.
We went to Cheltenham yesterday to visit our youngest daughter, who is at uni there. We finally took her out for her birthday meal (over a month delayed because of the weather. Had a lovely meal, Sat around talking to her for a few hours before setting off home. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way so was a fairly long day.

Hi everyone! :)
Just caught up on the news:
Heidi, sorry you lost a calf. :(
MizT, keeping Tanya in my thoughts ... hope she is better soon.
June, sounds as though you're having a wonderful time - not sure how I'd go in that water, as I already float really well ... Hope you're taking lots of photos.
Speaking of photos, I forgot to say that I've put some of our Italian photos on my page - hard to choose, as we took thousands, but I hope they're of some interest - mostly Rome, and some of Pisa. I'll try to get to Florence soon! :)

everyone.
Yes, I lost a calf yesterday, but there's nothing I can do about it now, so I'm not letting it bother me. It's along the lines of "sh*t happens".
Meanwhile, I need to get dressed, go outside and tag a new calf! Life continues.

The more I think about it, the more I believe I'll get a new cow at the KY Beef Expo, to replace the cow that lost her calf, when I get a second bull. There are several bred cows and cow/calf pairs available.

Around 45 cows, Theresa. I haven't done a head count recently. Then there's the bull, a steer we're gonna put in the freezer, 8 replacement heifers and the calves that are being born.

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers for Tanya. We are holing she just needs medicines adjusted and all will be well again. till then she is feeling mighty unwell. When she phones me again I will pass on all the good wishes. thank you all so much.

Went to a birthday party yesterday afternoon. Actually it was 3 parties in one! One of the celebrants was 84, then her Daughter in law, our friend, also had a birthday a few days earlier and also her son a few later, so they made it a 3 generation all in one party. They had brought in fried chicken and baked beans, everyone else brought a dish and soft drinks, lots of fun! I even found a bit I could eat and stay on my eating plan, fried chicken without the crust, green beans and salad. I brought my piece of cake home to give Al for his sweet tonight!

A slow day today, I am glad. I am reading, it is rainy and cloudy, seems to go together.

Rolanda, hope Stephan finds the car of his dreams. What is Robert doing now he has graduated?

Vicky, sounds your weekend was most busy, I am tired just reading about it. Good you can stay in one place today.

Suzy, I can just see your sheets and spreads blowing in the breeze, but please, what is a doona?

Teresa, I imagine you need a manicure today after the hockey game! Our coverage here broke in the skating to show the last minute and USA winning the game. I think that was a first time we ever beat Canada in th e Olympics!! I do not watch hockey, but did see that tiny bit of the game.

Heidi, poor calf, sorry you lost one! Could you see if this calf had mouth deformities similar to the calf you just sold??

Back to my book, catch you all later.

Suzy...I sometimes feel the hospitals send patients home too soon, hope your Mum does ok with the help from Friends popping in to see her.The alarms are a good idea.
June...gee the holiday seemed to go so quickly.Swimming in the dead sea and plastering mud over yourself sounded great. What did your skin feel like after that?
Heidi...sorry about the bully calf dying.Hope you are successful in your bid for the replacement birds. Also good luck with the newly laid eggs.
Off now to have a look at Judy's pics.
Bye all.

Morning all!

More thoughts to Tanya...

Nola, the scariest part is that she is hours away from a hospital. There is an ambulance, and sometimes a duty nurse.

MizT, a doona is a comforter with a removable cover. I prefer comforters but I can't find any I like here. The kids prefer them too and use their little kiddy ones with the Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh on them.

And I should be in the k-room gniydit up!

Today I am going to get caught up in the swishy room, still have backed up piles from the last couple of weeks when I had a massive dose of the CBFs. (Please don't ask, very rude word!)

Hubby is out for most of the day, D#2 is home, she has rung work to say she is not feeling up to going in, women's business, and D#3 is also home. She has a cough that sounds quite croupy, feels generally yuck and toady is a swimming sports day for the whole school, I am sure they wont miss her. So I virtually have the house to myself, wont be seeing those two up till lunchtime, I reckon!
