Gail, we're having a week like that too only not related to monthly pay. Between the plumber and the car registration....

Darn, now I forget what I was going to say. Ally just walked in and told me she had talked to her friend who has been in hospital in Sydney having tests. This friend has migraine headaches daily, and apparently now can't walk. The doctors have said there is nothing physically wrong with her, it is all in her head. Ally apparently wrote her a get well song, sang it to her and made her cry.

Ebob had her last game of junior baseball today. She's too old for it now. Her team lost but she went out with a bang. She pitched just before they called time and struck out a country baseball player. Man he can pitch!! He was getting our players out left right and centre! Ebob gets them out because her pitches are relatively slow and they swing too early.

Suzy... it's basketball. And a lot of these athletes leave college after only a year or 2, with someone else doing their schoolwork, and go to the pros to get the big money as quickly as they can. Not knowing how to manage money (many can barely read) they spend huge amounts on any whim, and on drugs . By the time they get permanent injuries, or just don't make it in the pros, they're penniless and in huge debt. You wouldn't believe how many of them end up living in slums, in shelters or homeless. The ones who stay in school, and get an education, have much better futures.

Suzy... That is one of my biggest peeves... Doctors who say something is "all in your head". I believe it's a cop out because they're not bright enough to find the cause of the problems. She needs to get a second, or even third opinion if needed.

Public health Heidi.... she had an MRI last week apparently. Ally sang me the song... I'm not allowed to post any of it because of copyright issues (yep, she's learning the lingo).

OMG, Ally has a fan page on facebook - and no, she didn't make it herself! She's not that vain!!! It has 9 members in 10 minutes. It had 8 but she told me I had to join since I'm her mother...

She's up to 14 now thanks to sudoku people! I also joined the pages they set up for each other. One of them missed out! I'll have to tell Alyssa to do something about that - it was the birthday girl after all.

Just sitting here thinking about birthday parties when I was her age. Put on a few records, eat a lot of food, dance maybe... Now they set up facebook pages! Well I'm a fan of all of them so I can keep track and make sure there's nothing going on there that shouldn't be.

Rolanda, glad mom is doing a little better.
As Julie mentioned earlier, we went out yesterday and picked tomatoes. The pickings were being delivered to local food banks and soup kitchens. We went as part of Disney's "give a day, get a day" program. If you register and spend a day volunteering, you get a one day pass to disney. We found an event that would allow the whole family. It was actually fun and showed my boys that food does not come from a store. They realize that they are lucky and that picking tomatoes, or other produce, all day is hard work and not something they want to do for a living. I would say it is a double win. People in great need will get fresh tomatoes and my boys learned a lesson. It really was fun even though we were not allowed to throw tomatoes at each other

MizT: So sorry to hear about baby Ian. God bless him & his family at this sad time. At least he's not suffering any more.
Rolanda: Glad to hear mum doing better, continued prayers for her. I missed 4 pages, can't remember what else I read, sorry. Hope everyone is doing well, feeling better (those who had tummy wonkies, etc).
TTFN, take care all.

Suzy: saw your post about the migraines. I know here in Utah there is a clinical study for teenagers with migraines, not sure if there's something like that where you are, worth a look though. I've had migraines since the age of 16, so I understand what Ally's friend is going thru. My history of them was hereditary, something that should also be looked into.

I used to have serious migraine problems. One lasted 2 years, forcing me to drop out of the University. I was in and out of the hospital,, having tests run and going to migraine clinics. Nothing helped. At the same time, I was having a lot of lower back pain (the result of breaking it) and decided to go to a chiropractor since MD's weren't much help, either. The Chiropractor took a bunch of full spinal x-rays (the ONLY test the hospital didn't do) and discovered that my top 2 vertabrae were out of place, causing the migraine. He put them back in line... it took a while to retrain the muscles to hold them there... and the migraine went away. I now go to a chiropractor whenever a migraine starts, and stop them in their tracks.

OH My, another lovely spring day today! The rain and T storms forecast arrived as gentle showers overnight and very early morning, clearing to a lovely breezy day. I have just opened windows to let in fresh air and let germs OUT! I have changed into a nice bright spring outfit, fire engine red light weight knit pants and cream long sleeve knit shirt. wearing it makes me smile hehehe.

Today is first day I have eaten without tummy pains, how wonderful that is! Then after breakfast I went back to bed for a nice nap. Hubby is still sleeping, he stayed up late last night in his office for the first time in a week, now I think he has his days and nights confused.

Rolanda, so happy to hear your Mom is feeling better today and in better spirits. Wishes for continued improvement winging her way. How are you feeling? Totally tuckered out with your trips to visit Mom?

As a young woman I had migraines, and none of the tests showed anything either. I had to learn the control them myself as none of the meds docs tried would help. I learned a relaxation and meditation kind of exercise that improved blood flow to my brain and could stop a migraine in it's tracks if I caught it soon enough.

Tami, what a wonderful experience for your boys, so many young people today have no idea where food comes from or the labor involved. AND a nice reward, pass to Disney.

Several years ago, I took a young friend age 6 to pick strawberries with me, and we had a wonderful time. It is a good thing they did not charge us for the berries we ate, sand and all, straight from the vines, can't get fresher berries than that. Did you have a tomato straight from the vine? Very best kind of those also.

OK, time for some lunch, I think there is more soup in the fridge.

Morning all!
Rolanda, so glad you mum had a good day. Sending lots more SA vibes that she has had a good night too!!

Tami, what a wonderful thing for you and the boys to do! I bet they learned more than how hard it is to earn a pass to Disneyland... I did my mother's job for her when she went on holidays one time - and cried almost every day. She taught me a good one then.

Suzanne and Heidi, I've had a couple of mild migraines and wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Alyssa's friend is only 13 and has had the migraines for years already. From the little I know she has been in and out of hospital having tests too. It's interesting about your vertabrae Heidi... I've only met her mother once, which is probably not enough to make suggestions, but Ally has begged me to take her over to visit so while I'm there...

Ally will be jazzed about her fans! lol

Suzy, I thought about eating the tomatoes, I found a few perfect cherry tomatoes. I kept them next to me, never put them in the box, took them home and ate them last night in a salad. They were good.

Rolanda, I'm glad to hear your Mum is improving. I hope you take the opportunity to rest when you can. Will your Mum go to stay with her sister when she leaves hospital?

MizT, I was so sad to hear about Baby Ian. I can't imagine how devastated his parents and family are after all those months of anticipation. In the long run I'm sure his passing is the best for all concerned. Poor little mite!

Love and hugs to all in need.

I lead such an exciting life. My big event on the weekend, apart from my haircut, was to travel through the Clem7 tunnel which connects the north/south sides of Brisbane and travels under the river. It will be a toll tunnel in another weeks time but for now is free. Hubby and I took advantage of the no-toll and drove through both ways.
It was great travelling south but the trip north was a bit different. Our radio was interrupted with the message that people travelling north were not observing the speed limit and that was why at one stage we actually stopped. Instead of travelling at 80kph we never got much faster than 40kph.
All in all it was interesting as it may be a while before we go through again - especially as it will cost $4.80 per trip.
It is called the Clem7 after Clem Jones who was a former mayor of Brisbane and the 7 cause it's 6.8k long (I think).

Good Evening, Everyone!

H, Broni, Gail, Suzy, Heidi, Rolanda, June, Tami the T, Suzanne, MizTricia, Victoria, and anyone I have inadvertently missed!

Ooh, Broni, a 3-week-old baby girl! Our new grandie is approaching 3 weeks, but it will be another 4 weeks before we get to see her in person! Sounds like you enjoyed yourself!

Gail, I'm so glad to hear that your sister is home and doing well with a walker! How unfortunate that her hubby now has issues that require crutches! I guess he won't be able to help out very much.

Heidi, I was thinking the same thing, but not knowing Gail's BIL, I didn't want to make that assumption.

Suzy, I'm so sorry if the nasty germs have jumped across the ocean! If they have, I hope they don't last any longer than 24 hours! Take care and get plenty of sleep!

Suzy, you and your girls have VERY full plates! I feel so sorry for Ally's friend with migraines! Our younger one started them at age 5. After a year or so on medication, she was doing well enough to stop the medication. They have come back BIG TIME for at least the last 15 years. She has seen many docs and had many things prescribed, including Botox injections in her neck, which she refuses to do. Sending positive vibes that she find a doctor that can correctly diagnose and treat. (Of course, migraine headaches are in her head!) How sweet of Ally to write a song for her friend! I will need to check out Ally's fan page!

So Ebob has officially graduated from junior baseball. Sounds like the game went well for HER, even if the team didn't win. Congrats to her, and much luck with senior baseball!

Rolanda, I'm SO glad to hear that your Mum had a better today! Sending many more positive vibes in the hopes of keeping on that track! And, OF COURSE, you were exhausted - both physically and mentally!

Suzanne, I'm so glad you brought up that migraines can be hereditary. I am not aware of my parents or grandparents having migraines, but both D's have had them (one only occasionally, luckily). Mine are much less frequent since I went through menopause. (That's not so reassuring for a 13-year-old!)

MizT, you have been most clever to discover ways to ward off your migraines. Sounds like Heidi has a similar system.

MizT, you have me smiling as I visualize your spring-y attire! And the thought of picking strawberries sounds so yummy!

Rolanda, what a cute message from your Mum. The fact that she is hungry and wanting to eat is good news!

Victoria, your weekend sounds more exciting than ours! Gosh, a haircut and a round trip through the tunnel. You are very wise to test it out before the toll was applied!
