Good afternoon. Spent 1 1/2 hours in the garden this morning, Caught up with some shopping. The cupboard was getting empty. Visited MIL this afternoon. Very muggy which makes me feel drowsy.

Hi to all, I hope you have had or are having a good day.

Ours (hubby's and mine) was spent running around doing errands and sitting around in waiting rooms...sort of productive and sort of not!

Good Maen everyone! Darrell on overtime today, they let him know at five minutes AFTER midnight (at the end of his shift). Someone decided to wait until the last minute to call off last night. Oh well, more $$$ for him!! (and me!! )
Rolanda: Great to hear your mom is improving!!
Hello to TTT, Gail, June, Suzy and anyone else I missed.

It is windy and sunny here, but a tad cool this morning. Ya think you can run outside without a jacket, till you get about 10 steps into the wind. Forecast to be stronger wind this afternoon. I need to see if anything will blow away and secure it.

I am seeing a few trees here beginning to open buds, trees have a green haze around the limbs. I have not seen dogwoods in bloom yet, and they are always bloomed by Easter in our local. they shall have to open fast to make it this year. My plum tree is blooming, it is a volunteer on the bank near the road, I see it from my kitchen window, makes washing dishes a joy.

OH, I managed to walk out and around the house yesterday and found HUNDREDS of wods violets in bloom in the front. I usually have them around the back deck, but either they will be late or absent this year, and last year, hundreds were around the dome, none this year there so far. I love violets, heck I love flowers of any kind.

In the mail, I received a coupon for $10 off on a $50 purchase at the home store, I need to go there to buy my potting soil and plants. I am going to plant my containers, the big ones that do not need watering as often. I want to get the plants bought later this week if I continue to improve, and then hire a young man I know to come help me with the containers, the big ones are heavy, they shall be emptied, compost added to the existing soil and fertilizer and then refill the pots and add the plants. Not something I can do one handed in this splint.

Heidi, be careful in the mud with the cows. Rolanda, get some rest! It is good you are staying home today, velcro your backside to your chair and stay there!!

SUZY, hope your brain will cooperate again tomorrow.

Darrell sure does get a lot of overtime. It is so inconsiderate of a worker to wait till last minute to call in sick.

June, hope the time in the garden was enjoyable. I am drowsy here and do not have a weather excuse. Think I will give in and have a nap. It is just taking time to regain my strength, nasty bug.

Thought of you Heidi:

A Dog's Purpose? (from a 6-year-old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try to live.

He said,''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?''
The Six-year-old continued,''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

Morning all!
Heidi, I hope some time on the farm will help the young man coming to stay with you to grow. I think all kids should spend some time on a farm.

Still thinking of baby Ian and his family MizT. I hope they are loved and supported in their grief.

Theresa, I hope your oldest grandie comes to terms with, or opens up about, why she doesn't want to leave her mother. I agree that there is something going on there. It is hopefully just a childhood fear and not something rooted in an experience she has had.

What happened? It was only a couple of days ago that I watched the sunrise ages before the kids had to get up for school. For the last 2 days it has still been so dark that I haven't even realised it was time to wake them up - thank goodness hubby watches the clock instead of the sky!

Tami, I like the idea of the kids playing in your driveway and in the street. It reminds me of the good old days... too much time in front of a screen these days.

Rolanda, I am so glad to hear that your mother is feeling well enough to be bored! I hope you're day off was restful and you have some energy back.

Vicki, when we travel to Sydney we drive through the expensive tunnels etc because it's a part of the 'adventure'. I can't imagine paying those tolls everyday!

Julie, I hope your physio and exercises are helping and you are now pain free and mobile. Migraines at 5 years old! I can't imagine watching that as a mother let alone going through it as a child!

Cyn, I hope you enjoy your time with Emily, though I know it will be tiring. Go Aunty Vi!!!

June, I love your garden. It would be peaceful spending time in there.

Gail, technically you'd think sitting in waiting rooms would be a chance to rest, but it never works out that way does it?

Suzanne, your hubby works very hard.

MizT, I'm glad you are going to plant some of your pots. They are very cheery. I have some violets in my garden. It was weird because I planted them around the side of the carport and somehow they transported themselves to the front garden! I have to cut those ones back all the time.

Theresa, that was beautiful! I must be in a soppy mood because it made all gooey inside...

Ally's friend is back in hospital. I don't know the details but I do know she is upset at a nurse. They must have been told that the problem with her legs is all in her head as she told Ally that although it hurt so much to walk that she wanted to cry the nurse pushed her and made her walk all the way to the bathroom. I'm sure she didn't mean literally... and based on her fb post I'm sure she swore at the nurse!

Theresa... That was PERFECT!!! BTW... the average lifespan of an Irish Wolfhound is only 5.8 years. The Dog in the story was ancient.

Suzy, when my daughter was around the same age as my oldest grandie, she went through the same thing. We went for all kinds of medical tests to no avail. One day I found out there was a new girl in the neighbourhood and all of my daughters friends were playing with the new girl. Once we got it straightened out she became friends with the newbie also, so it all worked out. Kids can't verbalize their emotions like we can.
Heidi, that's not a long lifespan for an Irish Wolfhound. It would be so sad to lose them after such a short time.
Well, time to fix supper.

Good mAen everyone! Did some gninaelc around the house today. Made marinara sauce (for use with mozzarella sticks when D works) and the house smells WONGERFUL!
Darrell DOES krow a lot of overtime and is concientious (spelling??) about his job unlike SOME of the people there, I guess that's what happens with government employees...it's also nice that I don't have to krow other than my Mary Kay business. (which is starting to pick up)

Hubby is out for the day so I am getting a ton of chores done. For some reason, our undies have gone mia...so the search is on! (I really didn't think I was THAT far behind in the sorting!)

Suzy, I agree with playing in the street. Just like the good old days. I live in houses that are attached and I am on the corner so I have the biggest yard, if you want to call it big. I love the fact that the kids hang out by my house. I always know where my boys are. Mitchell hurt his finger yesterday. Took him today for an xray. Nothing broken, just a sprain. The put a splint on and told him to wear it for 2 weeks to rest it. Of course it would have to be the middle finger.

I miss those days, too, Suzanne. It was always a lot of fun playing outside after dark, playing hide and seek or kick the can, or just running wild. During the day, I would frequently go off by myself all day, exploring a large tract of woods and ravines that bordered on Lake Michigan. I would make hammocks out of vines 20 ft. up in trees, and lay there watching the wildlife or just napping. Sometimes I would go to the lake to swim by myself. Nowadays, people would freak out if their kids disappeared all day, every day, and they didn't know where they were.

Good Late Evening, Fellow Sudokuaholics!

Hi, CynB, June, Suzy, Gail, Suzanne, Heidi, MizTricia, Theresa, Vicki, Rolanda, Victoria, Broni, Tami the Troublemaker, and anyone I may have missed!

Cyn, how nice that you could share a 91st birthday lunch with your Aunty Vi! Amazing that she's headed to NZ next week! Good for her! I'm sure Emily has enjoyed her time with you!

June, sounds like a busy and productive day with gardening and shopping getting accomplished plus a visit to your MIL!

Gail, seems you also had a busy day (including errands), though somewhat less productive, as waiting rooms are notoriously not a place to accomplish much other than waiting. I hope all is well with you and hubby! Continued positive healing vibes to your sister!

Suzanne, your hubby certainly gets his share of overtime, but as you said, it provides a bit more spending money for both of you! I hope the gloom and rain didn't "dampen" your spirits today!

Dark gloomy day in Heidi's neck of the woods, but windy & sunny for MizT today.

Theresa, thank you for sharing the story about Belker and Shane! What an insight! Brought tears to my eyes. Hoping you and your daughter can determine what's going on with your grandie, though it may be something as simple as someone new in the neighborhood or some inadvertent comment that was misunderstood.

Suzy, you did an excellent recap! Sending some positive vibes for Ally's friend. It must be very frustrating for her!

Vicki, do you find you're able to accomplish more at work with the boss on vacation? That's sometimes the case.

Suzanne, it's good to hear that your MaryKay business is picking up!

Gail, hope you got all the clothes sorted and found the missing undies!

Rolanda, continued good news from your Mum! What a relief! Enjoy your visit!

Enjoyed the reminiscing about being able to play outdoors and mostly unattended! Sorry that Mitchell sprained his finger! Heidi, I'm just imagining you in a vine hammock 20 feet off the ground or swimming in Lake Michigan by yourself. You were a very independent young lady!

Suzanne, Tami, and MizT, I'm guessing you've all gone to bed. I'm thinking of heading there as well, as I was awake past 3 this morning and wasn't able to sleep in to make up for it.

Be wary of the invites people send you, most are harmless 'apps' (applications, like hugs etc), but some are dodgy and may have viruses attached.
I love FB now, had my doubts for a long time, but like I said, be wary and aware.

Evening all,
My brain is only on half power again. I keep fallling asleep!

Theresa, Ebob loved school, then it suddenly became a battle to get her there. I found out it was 2 kids in her class - one little girl who had been taught that the way to show affection was to beat them up (had a couple of trips to hospital courtesy of her big sister), and one little boy whose mother had left him with his father and he also thought that beating people up was the way you showed them you liked them. Ebob's teacher blew me off so I went to the Principal - all fixed over night and I never had another problem getting her to school.

Gail, glad you found your undies. Life without undies is... well, uncomfortable.

Tami, on Mitchell's writing hand? Maybe it's all in his head like Ally's friend. (That still annoys me).

Vicki, hubby used to count his boss's holidays as his because he said it felt like a holiday while he was gone, and he got a lot more done!

Julie, I hope you get a good long sleep tonight! I don't know how you keep up with your schedule...

I scared everyone away again!

I saw Ally's friend posting on facebook and decided that Ally and I would nip up and visit her. She's being given a hard time by the nurses, and being a bit of a smart alec back at them. I kinda think they should be the grownups in this situation, but they are being physically and mentally cruel. Not saying I wouldn't be if I had a patient doctors were telling me had nothing wrong with her who was being difficult, but....
