Greetings and Salutations, Sudokuaholics!

Well, I missed a day here and have several pages to read.

Hi, Suzy, Tami, Suzanne, MizTricia, Brenda, Heidi, Nola, June, Broni, Rolanda, ___

Suzy, I hope Ally's friend can find out what is going on and that she and the nurses can learn to get along well enough to make her hospital stay less antagonistic! Amazing that the doctor is the same way! What has happened to the adults in the situation?

Tami, I hope you're enjoying your spring break. Wishing rapid healing to Mitchell! Has Passover started? My calendar doesn't tell me.

Suzanne, I hope both you and hubby are feeling better. I have heard that rubbing Vick's VapoRub on the soles of your feet, then wearing thick cotton socks to bed helps relieve coughing. Good luck!

MIzT, I think we're finally getting similar weather. We actually got up to 77* F today, and low to mid-80's is predicted for Thursday and Friday. I see you were very busy yesterday! I hope you got everything accomplished that you set out to do!

How nice to see that you visited, Brenda! How are you?

Wow, a visit from Nola as well! How have you been? It's so good to see you both!

Hubby has called me to watch something on TV with him. I will post this before it is lost and hope to get back later!

Back again - have read/watched Suzy's post about the immense flooding and Brenda's link to info on chocolate. Thank you both!

Nola, good luck with the remaining assignments and the test/s you are anticipating! We'll send some positive vibes for that! It's amazing how you are handling all that you do!

Suzy, you certainly got a lot accomplished!

Rolanda, I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has had another episode/heart attack! Sending MANY positive vibes and prayers her way!

Heidi, how exciting that you had some baby Gouldian finches hatch! I don't remember if you mentioned they had laid more eggs in their nest. Just had to mention that I heard on the radio today that some red angus sperm that had been frozen about 40 years ago had been used to impregnate some cows - and the offspring appeared to be perfect!

I see I also need to say hello to Victoria, Gail, Stella, CynB, and anyone else I have missed!

Yummy, Victoria, did you say you have enough chocolate for all of us? Sounds like quite a variety! My, but you are a BUSY one! I don't envy you at all

Gail, what a relief to hear that hubby's car can be repaired, but sounds major if it will require 15 days! I totally understand what a hubby sorting things means - you may never find it again. Not only that, in our case hubby is 12 inches taller than I am, so things get put on shelves I have no hope of ever seeing again. Good luck!

MizT, how awful that they completely removed a bridge and never replaced it! Very inconvenient and thoughtless!

Tami, hope you're having fun on your kidnap adventure!

Stella, how nice to see you here! Hope you will feel better soon! Seems like a sensible plan to all gather at Meghan's apartment to celebrate Easter - less driving involved for all! Good luck to Bryana and her team!

Suzanne, thanks for the update on Tami and her friend Barbara!

Seems as if many of us are enjoying the current weather, as Heidi says, it's not the extremes of winter & summer. Enjoy this gorgeous weather, Stella, MizT, Heidi, Broni and all others I have forgotten to mention! I hope the pleasant days hold true for everyone!

Heidi, I hope the Valley Quail arrive safely!

Well, look at that, I got a TOPP without knowing, and it looks like no one has posted while I was off with hubby watching TV! Happy Easter to everyone! Time to hit the sack soon here! Good Night, Everyone!

I'm back home with the Valley Quail They're such beautiful little birds. Another name for them is California Quail. I also have some eggs in my incubator that should hatch in the next few days. I have my fingers crossed.

I keep getting cats given to me. Our Postmaster gave me 3 cats last summer, telling me that he'd had them all spayed. Apparently he missed one. Phannie is about to have kittens. She's a lovely, sweet tempered blue-cream shorthair. I have no idea who daddy is since all of my males ARE neutered. It looks like she's going to deliver in the next day or two. It'll probably be an April Fool's Day litter.

Afternoon all!
A long but enjoyable day here. I drove up to Shellharbour with a friend to visit another friend in hospital. It's about an hour each way, but we stopped for coffee on the way up and lunch and shopping on the way back. Lots of laughter, we did most of the talking at the hospital as our friend only had her surgery yesterday, we sang along to War of the Worlds.. though not as loudly as we would have had we been alone.... a very nice day. Now I have to call to see what Ally forgot to take to the birthday party, then go and pick up Ebob. Then it just might be time for a nana nap... oh no, Ebob might be going to a party, take her to a party and THEN have a nana nap...

Good afternoon. Busy day doing some shopping. I now have enough food for a month and we will be away all next week. I do have friends coming for dinner on saturday night and I am still making up my mind what to have so covered several dishes!
I cannot imagine the number and variety of animals you have Heidi?
Happy Easter to you to Stella. Thanks for the wonderful update Julie. If I miss a few pages I just wait for you to condense them all. Much appreciated.
Suzanne, hope Daryl is soon feeling better.
A very happy Easter to one and all and best wishes for Passover for those celebrating.

Good morning Sudoku friends! I slept alllll night for the first time since this tummy thing started, I mean 7 hours with only one short trip to potty, amazing! I am still rubbing sleep our of my eyes and shaking cobwebs from my brain.

I also did something I have not done often since a teenager. I went to library on our outting and picked up 4 books. We did our errands and had an early bird dinner out, I came home about 6 pm, opened windows and doors to cool the house, and sat down with one of the books. so I just read in the house, and read and read. About 8 pm I made us a tuna salad sandwich, and read some more. Hubby came in about midnight and I was on page 255 of the book. I stayed up to finish it!! One entire book in an evening, been ages since I did that. Light reading, fun, and I had to feed my book addiction. I had not had a book to read in almost 3 weeks!!

Hubby was out in the shop, working on an office chair one of his friends brought to him, with a broken seat! Friend found it in the trash at a local store. Al dismantled it, cut a new seat bottom, reupholstered the seat, and reattached seat to base and arms to the seat. Thst was his trip to hardware, he needed some special screw things. Now he has 2 nice roll around desk chairs in his office. I should go out today and try it for comfort, see if I like it.

JULIE, thanks for the summary, refreshed my memory on what I read earlier. You do such a good job of that! I always enjoy reading your posts.

Rolanda, how are you today, and how is Mum? I do hope you are feeling better!

June, Isn't it a nice feeling to have the cupboards filled? What have you decided to make for your dinner guests?

SUZY, you take that nana nap if you get the chance, it is not a matter of age, it is the wear and tear, and you had a long day today. Enjoy your nap hehehe.

Oh heidi, new kittens? they are always such fun to watch. I know your animals are barn cats, not inside pets, but one of the most fun things we did was have Scooters 4 kittens in the house with us, entertainment 24/7. I would not want to do it again, lots of work but they were sooo cute. Scooter was a great Mom, and it was educational watching the interaction between Mom and babies. Good luck with the new birds and those eggs in the incubator!

off to have breakfast, check back with all later.

everyone. It's 75℉ / 23.9℃ right now, and rising. It feels like summer today.
I've got to go out now and feed hay to the cows. The grass still isn't long enough for good grazing.

Morning all!
Heidi, April Fools day would be a good day for the litter to arrive since you weren't expecting them!

June, I still haven't done my grocery shopping, and there will be nothing open today. It was more important to visit my friend though. I had forgotten that she would have a migraine. When she fasts she always gets one. And apparently the morphine is making her sick! I hope it is at least reducing the pain at the same time.

MizT, great to hear about your long sleep! You must be feeling so much better. I don't think Heidi's kittens would enjoy being inside much - all those dogs!! Though you never know, they might get along very well. I am reading Ebob's books at the moment. She's buying at least one, sometimes 3 a week. She is too impatient to wait for them to be in the library or come to the second hand book stores.

No kids here! Both of them are at parties.

No... the cat and kittens will NOT come in the house. There are several dogs that would eat the kittens. Plus, I'm allergic to cats. They have a comfy barn to live in.

Heidi, it is up to 80 here, but fortunately humidity is very low, and there is a breeze so it is comfy today. AND it quickly cools once the sun gets low in the sky. I could make a habit of days like today.

I do think I need to cut off the sleeves in a couple of shirts I bought, they are summer weight, and why they have long sleeves is beyond me. they go with summer pants. but today I had to change the shirt to something sleeveless. I do not have many short sleeved tops, Just have not found what i want this year. I do need to do a wardrobe check, rearrange my closet, see what I really do have that is summer, and what goes with what. But not today. I still do not have all my energy back, and gee, almost 2 weeks since this bug came. Perhaps I am just impatient, but I have things to do.

another book today, but I am doing the read, work, read thing today. I took out my hanging basket of spider plant, it did not do so wonderfully over winter. I need to re-pot it but with all those runners hanging down, that will not be easy. I need a gardening assistant. Al is not into gardening, at all.

Well, no breeze here at the puter, windows are poorly placed in my bedroom. I think I will go back to the living room where there is a nice breeze. Hugs to all.

Good Morning and Happy Easter to All.
Couldn't use the internet yesterday, Dumb had forgotten to pay the bill and when it did finally come back on was soooooo slow.
Great to see Stella back, and thanks for the summary Julie.
Been up since 4:30 with stomach pains, think what I ate last night had preservatives in it, pain is subsiding now.
Hugs to you all.

It's up to 81 here, MizT, and low humidity. I set up a hanging lounge chair in the back, hanging from a branch of an old silver maple. I've been laying in it most of the afternoon, reading a book. There's not much work I can do outside, since the mechanic won't be here 'til tomorrow to fix my tractor.

Oh, no, Broni. You're gonna have to limit yourself to food you prepare, to eliminate those preservatives.
At least Australia has banned the use of Ethoxyquin as a food preservative, tho' the US hasn't. I'm surprised more people don't become horribly ill from it here. It's a product that was developed by Monsanto as a rubber stabilizer, herbicide and insecticide, and is now used to preserve foods. Yes, it does preserve foods, but it causes all sorts of health problems and birth defects. Some of the biggest dog food companies used it, and there were all sorts of health problems in dogs resulting from daily use. Dog Show people around the country united and boycotted those companies until they stopped using ethoxyquin. But it is still used in food for people! But since most people don't make a steady diet of daily junk food, the serious effects haven't caused an uproar among people.

Good Friday morning lovely SA people - I have a break this morning, Emily has gone off with Poppy to drop something off and they will be gone for a few hours. Can you hear the peace? Seriously though, she has been reasonably good all week, except for Monday. On Tuesday morning, we sat down with her and set a few house rules and she's been really good since. I think with all the turmoil in her life, her behaviour had got worse but she's old enough to understand rules and took notice. I'm very proud of her.
She has 2 weeks off school and her sisters have only one week - did I mention that her so-called mother refused to have her this last week, her father has had too much time off due to the break-up so he has to work, as well as moving house on this weekend. HE has all the girls from tonight until Sunday night when their mother takes back the other 2 but won't take Em until Tuesday ('Only on what would have been schooldays') - I wish I could slap some sense into her. Can anyone understand a mother who would reject one, and only one, of her children? Emily can be hard to handle but, as I said, complies readily when given the ground rules.
Heidi - I will give her an extra hug - I try to give her as many as she'll let me - I want her to feel loved and worry so much about how this will affect her life.

The worst of this is that Emily has put her silly Mother on a pedestal - she adores her, like any kid does their own mother. I'm very afraid that she'll grow up feeling that it is her own fault.

Hi all. Just popping in for a few minutes. I have to catch up on email and all sorts of stuff. As you know I was taken to Ft. Myers Beach, Fl which is about 2 hours from my house. Our room was on the 5th floor and overlooked the beach and pier. The hotel was right on the beach. We did not spend much time in room. We ate lunch at a restaurant right on the beach, and then spent the day hanging out at the beach. At night we went for dinner and to a couple of bars for the music. Got back late. In morning we took a walk on the beach and watched dolphins playing in the water. Had a late breakfast, walked around the stores and left around 2 for the drive home. I am going to bed early tonight.

Thanks for letting me vent.
Broni - hope you continue to feel better.
Heidi - we had a persian cat that had kittens and a shepherd/border collie cross dog - let me tell you the cat and her kittens ruled that dog. She would get a quick paw swipe across the nose if she didn't do what the cats wanted!
It seems it's finally getting warmer topside and finally cooling down here - days can still be hot but the nights are much cooler.
Shopping - I fought the crowds yesterday and did mine. The only plans we have are the family here for Sunday lunch and that won't be a banquet, I can tell you.
Have a lovely Easter long weekend everyone and enjoy!

Morning everyone.

Been awake since 4.30am... Leg Cramps !!! grrr

Mum: she is back on the Oxygen, 24/7, has infection with the fluid on the lungs, being given diuretic and antibotics. She has had episodes daily ( small heart attacks). The episodes happen when she is off the oxygen for some time, hence the need to have it 24/7 now.

CynB... I understand what Emily is going through. I was rejected by my mother, who adored her other 3 children. But she was so good at psychological manipulation that I truly believed that I adored her, and desperately wanted her approval. I grew up with a low sense of self esteem, and felt it was my fault... a concept that my mother espoused... and didn't learn to like myself until I got away from her clutches and got professional help.

Broni, so sorry to hear about your tummy. A friend and her daughter are on very strict diets, I think even more strict than yours, after going to a naturopath. They are reminded every time they go off it why it is a good idea to stay on it. Sorry it is the same for you...

Tami, that sounds wonderful! I hope you had a good time.

Hubby is taking me out for coffee and I have to go now so I will leave the rest of my responses until I get home, Emily at least deserves more than a rushed response!

Cyn, I get annoyed/furious every time I hear about Emily's situation. No wonder she has behaviour problems. It is a credit to you and hubby that you work with her and work to let her know how much you love her rather than write her off as a bad child and a burden. I think Heidi is right about finding someone for her to talk to, maybe not right now, but as she gets older. Not that it will undo the hurt that her mother is causing, but it may help her to cope with it. Give her a 'great job' from me please!!!

Rolanda, that totally sucks! The doctor put her on oxygen for a reason, what was the other doctor thinking??!! I hope you are able to get it sorted out today - public holiday in the public system, I hate to think! And how stubborn is she, refusing her medication!! Sending more thoughts and wishes your way.

We do not breed pigs here. I buy pork. But IH does have a couple of pigs at his lab to grow worms in. They may or may not end up in the freezer. They are reject/runts from a nearby hog farm.

I am not sure I would want pigs that were used to grow worms become food in my freezer, YUCK, and please do not tell me all pigs have worms, it is just the thought of it.

Rolanda, I hope you get your Mom straightened out, and the oxygen thing is resolved. It seems there, like here, it is almost necessary to have your own patient advocate with you at all times, to make sure things do not get amuck.

It is getting late here, I stopped at computer on way to bed, to shut it down for the night. I had to check out the site, read a bit, then hadd to comment, and now it is almost tomorrow (midnight)See you on the flip side.

The particular worms that he's raising do not get into the meat. I have no problem eating it, rather than throwing it away. These animals were not going into finishing houses and grocery stores because of physical defects. Nothing that affects the meat, only things that affect their ability to compete for food and handle stress. They're actually getting good treatment right now... no competition for food, clean environment and fresh air.
