I just checked out your link, MizT. RW was funny, but not hilariously so. Too bad Mr. Rudd didn't realize that the comments were only made for a laugh, not as a condemnation of Australia and Aussies.

Suzy, are you taking a "not-yet-nana nap?"

p 157 Howdy all

It's been a full-on morning here and it's now 5.10pm and this is the first chance I have had to get to the puter!

Heidi, Surreal Farm is growing by the minute! So exciting about the hatchlings.

Suzy, it was hard for sis to see Marysville like that, but she was amazed by their determination. She said their were tents set up on heaps of the properties, and Bruno (of the carvings) has reopened and started more carvings. She said they had no hope of finding where the motel they stayed at all those years ago, everything looks so different.

Julie, you asked about my other sister. I just spoke to her this morning as a matter of fact. She is progressing quite slowly. She has resolved to do as little as possible, as anything tends to make the swelling go up again. She said this is the first day that the pain has been kept at bay. I apologised for not having been in contact, but she said that she really hadn't wanted to talk to anybody anyway, and that day by day she can feel herself getting better. She said that if the rest of us decide to get together this weekend to count her out, as she just wants to rest as much as possible. I will probably pop over and visit her later this week.

Nola, your family story was beautiful, thank you for sharing it with us. ♥

What a shame, I have missed you all. Sleep well Topsiders.

I am a bit weary on it myself. For some reason, neither hubby nor I slept very well last night, or more to the fact, couldn't get to sleep. Not for any particular reason, I was not hot or cold, had no real thoughts bothering me...just one of those things! We had a very early start to the day today, and youngest daughter wanted to come with us because she was going to come shopping with me and also needed some art supplies for school, so when I woke her up at 6am, she said she was so tired because she had been unable to get to sleep last night!!!
Must have been something in the water!

Catch you all later.

Evening all!
I did have a not-yet-nana nap. I have a trick though Julie, there is a movie that puts me to sleep in 5 minutes, 10 if I'm stressed. Today I fell asleep during the opening scenes and woke up during the credits!

Gail, sorry to hear your sis is progressing slowly and doesn't want to talk much. It's a shame really because sometimes a good laugh with friends can help us cope with the tough stuff.

Ebob tells me that work was busier than boxing day! When it was a bit quieter it was still as busy as their busy time on a normal day. I could have guessed it as driving and parking were horrible.

Doesn't want to talk much! We were on the phone for a half hour...that's a monumental convo for us!
No, I was just giving her space. Although we all love each other dearly, we do not live in each other's pockets.

It was busy at the shops today, I was very happy to be out of there.

Congrats on the dishwasher Suzy.

It was showery while we were playing bowls and our team lost both games. Fun and friendly games however.
I did win the ladies Easter bonnet though.....a bottle of white wine. The hat was bits and pieces I had collected over the last few Easters.
Dinner went well, enjoyed the evening with friends.

Good Morning Sudokuland, How is everyone this Maen? My request for rain showers at night only was not granted, we are having showers today. Hubby is off to help a friend and customer put up his dome framing, so rain figures. I think there has never been a dome he has helped put up that did not get rained on. I do hope he took his rain jacket.

I was a very bad wife today. Hubby wanted to get up at 0 dark thirty, so he could leave here 3 hours later. I set him a protable alarm next to his chair, he is sleeping in his recliner most nights cause of his back problems. anyhow, I set my alarm for later, cause he never gets up when he says he is going to get up, and I am awake and waiting. Not this morning.

I did not get to sleep till 2 am, one of those nights that bedtime meds did not start to work for HOURS. I heard he was up and moving around, so I just turned off my alarm when it went off. He was gone fore I woke today. Bad wife, for once. I could almost feel guilty if I thought about it for long.

Gail... your sister's recovery WILL be slow. Not only does it take a LONG time for anesthesia to leave the system, but the swelling will be a big problem for a while. As well as the major pain in the leg from break, surgery and metal screws. It took me a few weeks before I started getting cussedly stubborn and independent again. Keep in mind, they may not have been able to get the bones back in the exact position they were before the accident, so sharp edges may be rubbing against sensitive tissue as well. That is my main problem. I think that's why my leg is still painful and swollen. If you'd like to see, I asked for copies of my x-rays. I'll post the pictures on my page for a few days. This might help you understand your sister's problem.

Happy Easter everyone!
I have a few minutes so I thought I'd drop in.
You wouldn't believe how tough my Amber is. We were in Kelowna for two days because Amber had to get her two bottom wisdom teeth removed. She has braces now and needed them taken out so the work can progress. They would have had to be removed anyway because they were pushing the teeth forward. We spent the night because the surgery was at 7:45 AM and it's a 3 hour drive there. They put her to sleep because it wasn't just a case of pulling, they were still in the jaw. She was done and out by 8:45 and I said it was time to go home and she was broken-hearted. Well, we ended up staying in Kelowna and shopping until 2 PM. She also only took three of the prescription pain pills and hasn't needed any since that day. She amazes me.

Rena, so glad to hear that Amber's oral surgery went so well. Let a bit of pain keep her from shopping? Where do these teens get the shopping gene? It seems to be a favorite activity of so many young girls.

I know it's the middle of the night but I got up to change the time for daylight savings..

Congratulations June! I hope you took a photo so we can see the winning bonnet!!

MizT, it is raining here too. An Easter weekend tradition - which is why it is so amazing that the local camp grounds are packed.

Rena! Great to see you! Amber is tough! It sounds like you had a great time too.

Heidi, you were happy with 7 and you've doubled it! I wonder if the remaining eggs will hatch too? What will you do with all of the quail?

Good mAen everyone! It's almost noon here. I've been under the weather for the last few days. Had a migraine (along with the tummy wonkies--How did they make it all the way to Utah???) Much better today though, just need to get back to my regular routine. I lost 2 days being sick!! Also missed several pages of reading here, which I probably will forget as soon as I am done. Got on Facebook for info on my reunion this year. Found a few classmates I've known since kindergarten!!!!!! So excited to get back in touch with them. That's all for now, TTFN.

I checked the rest of the eggs. The grand total is: 14 chicks, 8 infertile eggs and 2 that died early in development. I'm actually delighted. It's a good hatching percentage for eggs that were shipped via USPS.

From the BBC news:

The NASUWT teachers' union wants a limit of 24 degrees as the cut-off point for lowering room temperature.

And it wants no one to have to work at all when temperatures reach 30 degrees.

Neither of the high schools I worked in had air conditioning and temps over 30C are common during summer. I've actually picked my kids up from school when it was 39C in the classroom - but was not required to do so, I just thought that stretched the limits a bit too much.

Suzy, I smiled when I read that article as directly underneath there was an add which read "Want to work in UK?"
Suzy, I remember when Julian was born. Always wondered where he got his looks when you looked at his parents. Especially his father's big ears.

Happy Easter everyone.

Ooooooh, Suzy. That's almost a case of Deja Vu. I just was able to roll under a fence to escape the attack, and only had bruises and cracked ribs. This is why I got rid of every cow on the property who as much as threatened me, so my cow numbers are still down.

Warning: Family anecdote

Every year we do an easter egg hunt. Because it is usually raining at easter the eggs are all hidden inside. Some of them are coloured eggs, some chocolate eggs, and some plastic eggs stuffed with something. This year Ebob decided she was just too cool to do it anymore. She is 17 after all! I thought she might change her mind so delayed the hunt until after she finished work. Hehe. Not only has she changed her mind but has decided that she wants half of the plastic eggs as her inheritance!! Now if I'm honest, it's what inside them that she's after, but hey, whatever keeps the tradition alive...
