Wishing Vi egg and lettuce sandwiches in the very near future!!!

Seasonally adjusted unemployment figures - hmmm - shouldn't unemployment figures just be unemployment figures?

You wouldn't believe it! My sister has been in Scotland while the Vi drama unfolded. To begin with we didn't tell her but earlier in the week my bro sent her an email and then I sent one today to let her know the latest. An hour later she phoned me - she hadn't been near the net just wanted to know how everyone was so I had to tell her over the phone, darnit. At least I had more facts to tell her, she was upset but realised there was nothing she could do about it. She promised she would not let it hamper her enjoyment of the last 2 weeks of their trip.

I hope both your sisters have lots of warm clothes as it has been COLD in Scotland (and here too) for a while now. I think they have had rain too lately, falling as snow right up in the north.

My sis and BIL are right up in Inverness today, Brenda. And we're complaining of the cold snap we're experiencing with overnight temps of 10C. Well, I'm complaining - because hubby hasn't chopped the firewood like I asked.

Cyn,Nice to see you have the connection back. Much easier the M's.
Nola, congratulations on your pass.
MizT, pleased you made the trip to get the plaster sorted. Hope it is now feeling much better.
Thoughts going your way Therese. Also to you Julie.
Heidi, pleased the jaw is feeling better. You are one tough cookie!
Sounds as though you are getting things sorted for your Mum Rolanda. Not easy!
Good luck with the driving instructions Gail. I know someone with twins and it was quite an effort getting the hours in.
Suzie, the seasonal adjustment of the unemployment figures is to reflect the times of school and uni end of year etc. and things that happen on a regular basis. I spent 25 years in the collecting of those figures!

The other night the Doctor was trying to get a bit of black from the inside of my eyelid but it would not move. However i managed to get it out last night. The eye is still very sore but no longer aching. being on the computer does not help. Also Suzy I have had a busy day with shopping etc.
Ken is off to Singapore again tomorrow. trying to work out if I should do more painting while he is away.Only if my eye is OK though!

There has been an old lady missing in Brisbane for 2 days - she had dementia and they were asking local residents to check their sheds etc for her. Just found out that my daughter's father-in-law, Gary, found her this afternoon. He thought it was a pile of old rags lying in the garden of an untenanted house - he was out walking. The ambulance people told him she was an hour from death, if hadn't seen her. She's in hospital in a stable condition. Go Gary - you're a hero!

Also just found out that at first the police suspected that he (Gary) had done something to her - and they wonder why people don't want to get involved. He's apparently quite disturbed by her condition when he found her - very cold and dirty, covered in dirt and gravel. Police now think she fell in the yard and lay there for most of the 43 hours she was missing.

I've just had a lovely surprise chat with June on SKYPE.
Cyn it is the same over here. Years ago my then 9yr old son found a wallet while we were out in town. Straight away took it to the police station. He was questioned about what was in the wallet and if he had taken anything out of it.

Might as well get dressed, and go watch the men installing the support boards (I forget their names) for the trusses. This should be good entertainment for the simple minded (like me today). I actually had to resort to a pain pill last night. I wonder if they found a long pipe to serve as a boom to lift the trusses in place later today.
I do need to hsaw some clothes today. I have very few clean clothes left, and nothing ready for Millionaire's Row.
BTW... we have a few extra tickets available for guests, if someone would like to spend Saturday at the races, feasting on a large, elegant buffet, with our table having an unobstructed view of the whole course. We will be right next to Queen Elizabeth II's table when she visits the Downs. She has a lot of race horses here in Kentucky.

Hi all! Been busy trying to finish the bathroom. Working on it since September and hoping to get it at least painted before Meghan's graduation party on the 30th. When I took off the wallpaper, the wall was a mess. Long and tedious repair work. Must get it done so I can clean the rest of the house before the party. Yikes!

Hope all is well with everyone! Stopped by to see who Suzy grounded and why! It sounded very intriguing!

Heidi, have fun at the races! Sounds like you have an excellent spot! WOW!

Cyn, so glad that Gary found that poor woman. My heart always breaks when I hear stories like that. It's happened a few times around here.

Need to get back to the grind. Took a breather from all the dust from spackling!

Stella I had to look up what you meant by 'spackling'. We would probably call it filling or polyfilling cracks. (Polyfiller being the most well known filling compound here)

Heidi, not surprised you need pain meds at night. I still do. distraction is a good coping mechanism for moderate pain, especially for us who have chronic pain. Come bedtime, no distraction, we become aware of the pain. Take them as needed, that is why you were given them. (see Tricia hanging up her nursey hat now)

Nola, congrats on passing your Anatomy and physiology exam. I found anatomy hard, especially the final exam, individual bones turned any which way, and we were to identify not the bone, but name of certain marked named places on the bone. Physiology I loved and Aced, greater than 100% score, good thing, it brought up my anatomy portion (counted as one course)

I do think the anatomy exam I took would have been more useful to a budding forensic anthropologist than a nurse. All the bones I saw were alive and connected and covered with muscle and skin.

Good to see Stella today. Hope the bath makeover goes well. When is Megan's graduation? Is she the first of yours to graduate college (uni)?

Rolanda, crossing fingers your MIL's Flight home leaves on time and goes smoothly. Glad you had a 'do nothing' day to rest, you needed it.

Heidi, toss a load of most needed items in the sloshy thing then go watch your barn go up. I always enjoy watching construction, I can understand.

It is such a shame good Samaritans are so suspect by police, no wonder people look the other way. I do hope the old lady recovers quickly.

CYN, glad you have your connection. We all are so dependent on our puters these days.

ON a related note, hubby got his parts last afternoon, and worked till 2 am installing all his programs and backed up information into the new machine. He is at work on it again this morning.

Have read more, had more to say, but have run out of time. hugs to all.

It is one HUMID day today. Even though it's only 79℉ / 26℃, I'm soaking wet from standing outside doing nothing except savoring an iced fruit drink. The workmen are on their lunch break, and Robert hasn't shown up yet, so it's quiet here.
Robert has plenty of days when he can't make it, so he needs flexible work like mine. He has a severe case of epilepsy (born with it), and some brain damage from a bad car accident. Most of his skull is made of metal. So he has a lot of Doctor visits. His 17 year old daughter has a very bad heart condition, so he needs to be flexible for her. He seems to spend nearly a night a week at the ER with her.

Popping in for a rare afternoon visit! Everyone!

Since I was here last night, hello to Victoria, Heidi, Suzy, CynB, and Gail (at least on page 205).

It's beginning to sound like we're a bunch of "shorties" here, at least by the standards of our children! Victoria, so glad Aki liked your shoes and they fit her!

Heidi, if the collies stood on their hind legs, I bet some of them would be taller than you are.

Suzy, I hope your day is going well! I like your assessment. I think I'm a starter, rather than a finisher as well!

Hooray! CynB is back among us without daily trips to Macca's! I'll join in the happy dance, if you don't mind. Cyn, wonderful news on Vi! Sending continued prayers and positive vibes!

I'm an average 5'5" to 5'6" tall. The collies standing on their hind legs are not as tall as I am. They do it regularly to give me kisses, so I know. Only poor Lucky was taller than me.

Done for the day. I was under the impression that the trusses would be going up quickly. They're not going up until Tuesday. There are a lot of supports and braces that need to be put in place first, I'm told. They brought over a boom pole today, to see 1) if it would fit on my tractor, and 2) to see if my tractor can lift the trusses high enough. The pole fit perfectly, and my tractor can get more than enough height. So I'll be driving the tractor on Tuesday, by popular vote (They know I'm really good with the front end loader), George will be directing me, and George's 2 helpers and Robert will be up on top securing the trusses. I have a dental appointment at noon, but we can get most, if not all trusses in place before I have to leave. We can't wait to do it the following day, because that is the day of my next epidural.

Rolanda... You don't need to have any knowledge of horse racing to have fun and eat some great food. Listen to the commentary before a big race some time. All of the experts explain why a certain horse is going to win, and usually every expert's picks differ. And they still rarely pick the winner.

A first for me, I took an hour's drive, had a bill to pay today or tomorrow. Al could not go, and I did not want to pay the late fee, so I tried driving. it was doable, tiring, not fun. I think I need a nap now. casted hand was useless, any pressure, weight on fingers hurts that new thumb joint.

I read, thought of each of you, and perhaps can make comments later. Hugs!!

Yay Gary the hero!!!

June, glad to hear you got the spot out of your eye and it is feeling a little better. I think I would give the painting a miss for this trip, give yourself a chance to heal properly.

Heidi, it sounds like you and I might have something in common. When we went to Parliament House I was not happy until I could see how they raised and lowered the flag. Now I would love to go along for the ride while they do it - better than an amusement park!

MizT, that does sound tiring, I hope you feel better after your nap.

It's not just the police who are a suspicious bunch, it's medical staff and shop keepers too. Ever tried to get out of an Aldi without buying anything? Twice hubby has been indirectly accused of hurting our kids when they have had to go to hospital. I blame the 'bad guys', it's because of them we have to deal with the suspicions.

Nature is putting on a show for me! I have a bunch of galahs and a peewee wandering around on the grass outside of my window. Some of the c0ckatoos are coming down from the trees to join them. I wonder what it down there that is so yummy? Oooo they're on the roof too now. I don't feed them because the dogs are not great with birds so it's wonderful to see them.
