Good morning you lovely SA people.
Thank you for all my wonderful birthday wishes.
I'm expecting Karin and her kids over shortly and they're taking me out for coffee and cake (I can handle that). Tonight I'm going to my fave Thai restaurant for dinner with hubby, my sister and her hubby. And tomorrow all 10 of us are going to a Hotel bistro for lunch where they have a great playground and games room for the kids to celebrate my birthday and Andrew's. His is on Monday, he'll be 39. BIG celebrations next year when my first baby turns 40.
Ooh Heidi - that's some splint! I expected to see just the finger bandaged, not the whole hand. I will therefore forgive you for not being able to do the Hippo Bird-day! Hehehe!

Hi all
Just popping in for a first time. I've been lurking for years, just playing the sudoku, and was only recently inspired to join so I could comment on a picture. I think it was by Wilodene, and it was a pic of Mt Garfield, which I live only a mile or so from, and which my front door faces, so I see it every day.
Not too far from Dinosaur, V Vici.
I'll be back again

Hi Karen, welcome to SA 9. Hope you enjoy your stay with us. We are a chatty bunch of women, with the occasional male fly by. Colorado happens to be one of my favorite states.

Heidi so sorry to hear that your hand has had to be splinted to such an extent. Hope it heals soon, especially as your busy calving time is arriving

Believe it or not....... IH expects me to make supper!!!!
They had to splint the hand so extensively. Any movement of it was excruciating. By the time I got in there, the hand was swollen like a balloon.

A clean Bill for Gail...
Judy is not doing as well... sending Sudoku vibes Nola. Please pass them on for me!
Theresa, your comment about your busy little beavers had me giggling. I'm wondering what area is completely destroyed! It also reminded me of something I saw at the docs office yesterday. A little girl about 18 months old took out the wipes while her mother was distracted by her big brother and bent down and wiped herself! It was sooooo cute.

I think we are home for the day! I say I think because I found one of Ebob's friends drivers licence on the floor so we may be asked to deliver it... sob.
I have bought a bottle of wine so hubby and I can celebrate the beginning of 2 weeks holiday for him. Tomorrow Ally is singing AGAIN. Another Kids Day Out. Inside this time thank goodness, possibly to an empty room since it looks like rain and a lot of the entertainment is outside...

Due to a seniors moment with disastrous consequences I am hoping someone can help me with some advice.
Last Monday night I thought I would have a pork chop for dinner. Then looked in the fridge and ended up eating some bits and pieces of left overs. I then went to Belinda's on a very hot couple of days.
Unfortunately I had put the pork chop in the microwave to defrost and it was rather high when I got back on Friday!!!
Does anyone have a fool proof way of removing bad odours from a microwave.
I took the offending chop out and washed the glass tray, threw in several hand fulls of bicarb and left it till today.
I gave it a good wash out with a cleaning spray and then vinegar. I have removed it from the kitchen and it is in the sun room with the door open and a cloth soaked in vinegar inside. It can stay there till end of Feb. I did consider boiling some vinegar in it but may try that in 6 weeks time and before I try using it again.
If all else fails it will go out in the next council collection in 6 months time (we had one last week or I might already have thrown it out).
I do have MIL's one as we were storing it after she moved out of her unit last year. It is much smaller than mine.

Heidi, go to the supermarket and buy a stack of frozen dinners. If IH does not like them, tough t*tties! You really have been in the wars this year and I hope it soon improves for you.
Welcome Karen, nice to see another new face.
Your birthday sounds great Cyn.Mine was a bit of a non event. Ken did phone but it was an awful connection. He might bring me home a nice surprise though.

Oh June, I can imagine that smell...peeeee eeeeew!
I know for fridge smells, I was always told to use vanilla essence. Wipe the inside with it and leave a cottonball soaked with it in a bowl, then wash it out when you get back...maybe....

I might buy a vanilla bean and boil it in some water to get into 'the works'. Will do that end of Feb. when I might want to use it again. Thanks folks. Thought I was better and woke up coughing again (but as bad as it has been)

June... The vanilla essence contains alcohol, unlike the bean itself. I don't think boiling a bean would be as effective.

Morning all!
June, the frozen dinners sounds like a great idea for Heidi. I also use vanilla essence for fridge smells. I've never tried using a vanilla bean.
Heidi, I haven't been to your page yet to check out the photos but it sounds dreadful. I'm glad you've got it immbilised now.
Cyn, I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday!

June, go to a pet supply store and buy activated charcoal. Let it sit in the microwave. The charcoal will help to absorb the odor. Don't wait until the end of February. It is not expensive and you don't have any work to do. The charcoal will do all the work for you, hopefully.

I do have some activated charcoal (did you know charcoal is uesed to remove the colour from liquid sugar before it is chrystalised into white sugar?) The reason I said the end of Febuary is because I will only be home a few days between now and then. Thanks for all the tips. Whatever I use I have to get it into the 'works' of the machine. Otherwise every time I use it I know what the kitchen will smell like.
I have only had this one a couple of years otherwise I would chuck it. Might still have to do that.

These things never happen to the old worn out things we were going to get rid of anyway!
I keep checking the time. Ebob has to be at work by 9.30 and Ally has to be at the Showground at the same time. We'll be up there 5 hours! Hubby is a bit disappointed because he's finally got his computer thingy sorted so that he can watch the football and he won't be here much!

Frustrated here, my daughter arranged to view a flat today. The owner was supposed to show us around but didn't show up. We waited around for a long time in the cold and damp weather, as it turned out he did us a favour as we found out about the noisy neighbours.

Hi all...Strange and worrisome things going on here...I wrote and posted a long, detailed post about today, being lost and wondering where everyone was...now I came back to a full house but no post...hmmm. Today I was celebrating Sully's birthday...that may have something to do with my mystery...I will find out what has happened and end this mystery...just looked now and saw comments from the day after Christmas..I started after the last comment on page64..Heidi was telling us that she had to drive and pay for the dinner that IH was taking her out to...also wanted to welcome our lurker, but can't remember her name at the moment...hey...perhaps I am going nuts...I've been on that road now for awhile...hmmm... got to find out what's going on...will report later. Peace! Wonder where this will show up? 01/17/10

Question??? Am I on the site that gave birth to addictive folks who were willing to admit they were addicted? I am a lost sole wandering trying to find my friends who were so full of chat that they ate pages at a time..now I find all of these sedate, quiet folks who are just holding on...did that
other site rob us of all of our flavor? I have been celebrating what would have been Sully's birthday and wanted to share that with you ...Alas, I have spent too much time away, and seem to have lost my way...I need you guys to help me out..You cant get a life and leave me behind....keep me in the loop guys, and lead me back to the fold...Where are You? LOL.... No, I haven't flipped, just trying to be dramatic since no one is around....lol. Peace.

Mama, consider us a bit like a daytime soap opera, like DOOL. You don't need to watch it every day, in fact, you don't need to see it for years, but when you do watch it, you can just pick up where you left off! Nothing much changes...
You are in my thoughts today. May your memories of your life with Sully all be good ones. ♥
