Just stopping in for a quick hello. I have wasted too much time on the other page and am now falling asleep. I have the day off tomorrow and we are all going to see Brenda. I am taking her to one of my favorite ice cream places. I will take pictures and post them soon. Talk to you all soon.

Son #1 just rung.. doing the 'Happy Dance'.
6 years of Study at University all over.
He is extremely confident he did well in the exams.
One of his lectures, came up to Robert, and said how pleased and excited, and the boys Thesis is the best he had read.
I have one very extremely happy excited boy!!

Hello again everyone.
I'm so sorry I didn't make it to the farewell party for Vici - I could have coped with the lack of sleep after 24 hours travelling; I could have coped with the broken arm, as Rob volunteered to drive me; but I just couldn't cope with the chest infection that left me wheezing and grumpy and not good company at all!

For those wondering what exciting event led to me breaking my arm - well, none really. I tripped over my own feet while walking down a corridor at the hotel. One of those depressingly stupid little accidents - and I KNOW you've all had them! Six weeks of plaster, boredom and frustration - that just about sums it up. :(

Evening all!

Sorry to see Vici go...

June, that little girl is one bright (exhausting) little cookie. Inquisitive, intelligent, I feel for Sharon and the teenage years....

Rolanda, Robert must be bursting with pride, as must you and hubby. What an outstanding achievement!

Judy, ouch! And while on holiday too! And now a chest infection on top of it all. I hope you are getting some TLC from somewhere!! Sending hugs...

And now for our news - we have another car. This one is new, but a Hyundai Getz - one of the cheapest cars on the road. It has neat little gadgets though, remote locking, a fancy shmancy stereo with bluetooth etc, electric windows, stereo controls on the steering wheel bla bla. I think hubby is going to end up with that one as he spends more time in the car and plays with all types of media to listen to his music. I usually just stick to the radio. The only thing I'm really jealous of is the remote locking thingy, other than that I think I prefer the Mazda.

Ah Judy, Judy, Judy! We've all had those 'stupid little accidents' - sorry you now have to have 6 weeks in a cast. Hope the chest infection clears up quickly!
Suzy - congrats on another new car. I'd be jealous of the bluetooth more than the remote locking - that's the thing I'd miss most if I had to lose it.
Nite all - going to tend my zoo and off to bed. Had Andrew and Emily over for dinner - then after they left at 8.30pm, went up the road for coffee and cake to celebrate a friend's birthday.

Hi all.
Suzy...thats the car that I have too.It uses more fuel than my old Hyundai Excel but being auto the Getz is bound to use more.I like sitting a bit higher and still feel like a queen driving it.

Rolanda...what a fantastic achievement for Robert in doing so well.6 years of study is a huge task to complete and you all must be so proud.Good on him!!!

June...my 6 yr old grandsons went through a "why" stage and half the time I didn't know why, to their questions.hehe They can come up with some doozies can't they.
Your trip into the city to see the Christmas decorations reminds me that I have only bought 1 small item.Must get a move on or I'll be in a panic xmas eve shopping.

Judy...sorry you have a chest infection which stopped you seeing Vici.Hope you are on the mend as well as your arm.

I had a challenging shift at work with behavioral probs in the dementia residents,so am looking forward to 2 days R&R.Probably catch up with you all tomorrow.Goodnight.

Nola, we got the manual. It was funny when we called the insurance company from the dealership. The woman said 'I shouldn't say this, but my husband (bla bla drives over 1200km a fortnight) and we only use $25 fuel a fortnight!' I hope it does well. Enjoy your R&R..

Nola, that sounds like a nice way to spend the day. Enjoy!

I am making simple curtains out of heavier fabric for a few windows in my house today. Hopefully they will be a little more efficient at keeping out the heat than the old 'temporary' ones I put up 6 or 7 years ago...

Oh Bean get away from that one - I am not going to allow it to happen to me, although with a couple of weeks of recovery coming up, I am going to need all my strength to stay away, ha ha
its all I hear about at work the girls are driving me nuts, as I have no clue what their talking about.
I also drive a car that sits a little higher, but for a different reason, its so much easier to get out of, when I'm having a tough day with my rheumatoid arthritis, my little toyota is wonderful, had it 5 months now and have just clicked past 3000 kl.
I have a huge problem with retaining fluid, went to the docs yesterday, she gave me some lasix that is now starting to work, but cant take it after today due to the up coming operation.
she called it Eodema with pitting, put your feet up as much as possible.
When I got to work one of the girls said her daughter has a bad case of it aswell, and heres what she was told to do.
Get some Lectric soda, wrap it in an old tea towel, wrap it around affected area and bandage overnight, she woke up the next morning and the crystals had turned to like a plaster, and the swelling had gone down heaps, so tried it and WOW anyone with swolen ankles (or the new name kankles) please try its amazing.........
Have a good one everyone........

Today being the day after remembrance day
We are having our day at work
all families of residents we have lost in the last 12 months have been invited, we read some poems, and then all the names are read out, when your loved ones name is called you go to the back of the room where there is a vase of long stemmed yellow roses, the family take a rose and take it to the front of the room and place it in one huge vase, this is all done with harp music playing in the back ground, and a huge afternoon tea afterwards, very emotional day coming up....

Hi all....I too have been on that other page tending my zoo and farm...I have been working very hard at both. I have found that some pages slow down or come to a complete stop when I visit in search of farm bucks...any clues?
Judy, Glad your trip was not spoiled due to your fall....at least you tripped over your feet...some trip over the feet of others...so they much also be blind as well as clumsy...no names over who would do something like that though.....he he.

A special word for those who have served in any military any where....Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.

Mama, good to see you around. Nup not going anywhere near that zoo thingy.
Lizzy, very emotional day for all, but I really like the thought.
Judy, hope you mend well. Mine was a skateboard at 30years old, only travelled 1 foot and retired injured. 8 pins and a plate later!

Liz I have just made an addition to my shopping list. I know I have an ankle bone somewhere....
I have just heard that singing has been canceled tonight... probably a good thing. Although I have stopped puffing on the Ventolin every couple of hours my chest still feels very heavy and the sinusitis has decided to stay awhile...

Yes, it was a very emotional Remembrance Day this year. We were on the way to the airport and I explained to Vici that I would be observing the minute's silence. I turned the radio onto the ABC and they had a short reading about the six soldiers whose bodies have recently been repatriated from Vietnam and how it is our duty to bring home all our lost fallen, then he read the poem 'For the Fallen'. After the 'Last Post' was played all you could hear for the next minute was the flapping of a flag and birdsong in the background, finished off with a lone bugler playing 'Rouse'. I am always an emotional wreck at Anzac and Remembrance Day ceremonies, but it was even more poignant this year because I added Mum to the list of those I was thinking.
We spent quite a time discussing the observance. Vici asked if the others in their cars would be doing the same and I said yes, many would, as well as those at work and school. She was deeply moved and wished the same was done at home.

Thanks Gail - good news that Vici arrived home safely.
Lizzy - you'll be pleased to know that I visited Mum today without incident although the old towel-flicker was striding around the place still very agitated. The staff kept a very close eye on her so I'm wondering if there have been other incidents.
