Vici.... Why are you digging when your back is flaring up? And what meds are you on for it? I take Flexeril, Indocin and Methadone for mine. That Methadone is GOOOOOD stuff.

The arctic air mass that MizT mentioned is getting ugly. It's getting down to 8 F (-13 C) tonight, then down to -3 F (-20 C) tomorrow night. Brrrrrrrr.
I'm gonna have to get dressed in a few, and feed hay to the cows. I wish I could warm it up for all the animals. As it is, I have heat lamps on for all the birds.

Take care of yourself while out doing your chores Heidi. those temps are rrrrrrrealy low. I think the lowest we had last week was -12C and that was overnight, so I was snuggly wrapped up in bed.

YIKES Heidi - mighty cold there. I take just an anti-inflamatory called Voltaren and a pain reliever (that's pretty much like asprin) called Ultram. I usually don't take them unless I'm doing some heavy work like today - and I try and take it before and after the work...it seems to help me get through it quite easily.

I'm like you, Heidi - the back issue is ongoing and permanent...and I'm not about to stop doing everything I love to do. So it's usually just take it slowly and try and pay attention to what my body is telling me. Although I must admit I'm not so good at listening often.

Vibrant Vici, I'd be happy to send you some of our cold and snow to protect all those bulbs. Unfortunately, US weather usually travels from west to east, not the other way around. I wish there were a way to package it up and send it to you, though. And why are you still digging, Girl? It's the wrong time of the year to be planting any more bulbs, and your wonderful pond appears to be done, based on photos I've seen. Please take care of yourself! If you can give your back a rest, you might not need to take all the meds.

I remember you mentioning an appointment for acupuncture. Is that also for your back? My acupuncturist had done WONDERS for my sciatica, which started Dec. 2007 and hit its worst around late July 2008. I saw her yesterday and could honestly say pain is around a 2-3 (out of 10) most of the time. I started seeing her twice a week, am down now to every 2 weeks and looking at reducing visits to once a month soon. YAY!

Hiya Julie - boy would I LOVE to take a big order of that snow and cold from you! My acupuncture is the best treatment I have found. I see Kristin (my acupuncturist) about every 2 months and I am so glad for her help. I've heard that acupuncture is great for sciatica. Glad you get such relief from your treatments.

Morning all!
Pink sunrise here too Nola. The forecasts say we're in for another 37C day, but with thunderstorms later in the day. I looked at my lemon and tangello trees this morning and thought the same thing you did...

Vici, if I remember correctly your back pain is related to the reason you had to leave the job that resulted in your hottie photos! I'll take some of your coffee even though I have just read an article which suggests there may be a link between caffeine and hallucinations....

37C is not going to be fun, but I can't relate to temps like -20C!!! Perhaps if we were used to those temps and had proper clothing and heating systems....

The coldest Temp. I have experenced was -6*c in Prague. It meant we saw the place without too many tourists about.

Have a lovely day June.Bet you will be in the nice cool air con with temps around 40.What a scorcher!
I remember as a kid when it snowed in Gosford(Somersby)about 1965.Mum & Dad wouldn't get out of bed to see it so I put some on a plate in the freezer to show them.It hasn't snowed since.

nola, congratulations to your brother and SIL. They picked a good date to get married!
I had acupuncture and stretching 'on the rack' for my back which helped. I then had lots of exercises to do which helped more when I did them. It really improved when I had to look after Sharon and Laura and was forced to do more things which strengthened the core muscle. Two things I was told not to do was horse riding (Had been many moons since I had been on a horse anyway) and gardening. I potter in the garden but avoid digging. TAKE NOTE VICI!!!!

Nola I remember in 70's when it snowed in Epping. I was driving the car and thought'if I did not know better that looks like snow flakes coming down' It did not settle on the ground but they reported on the news that it had been snow. It did snow in Melbourne about 1969 when we were there. It is hard to think of snow in Gosford that settled.

Back in for a little. I still have to unload about a dozen bags of feed yet.
I just made 2 unpleasant discoveries.....
1) I have a retired Morgan horse who will eat almost anything (he won't eat hamburgers with fried onions, only without the onions). While feeding the cows, I noticed that he was rather intently eating something out in the pasture. I went out to check, and discovered him finishing off one of my peahens.
2) While disposing of the few remains, I spotted a young ewe.... in rough shape. She had just given birth to an enormous lamb. Which was dead. I think something was torn in her, and she doesn't look like she'll make it either.

Oh Heidi, Sorry about your peahen and lamb. Hope you are able to save the ewe.
I put washing out last night so must go and bring it in before it gets any hotter. Slept with the aircon on all night!.

Buddy WILL eat anything. I have seen him eat fried chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, ice cream, hamburgers, and any type of candy he can get hold of. He gets invited to parties by neighbors (I don't get invited... they pick him up) where he wears silly hats and gets fed party food. I sometimes wonder if he's really a horse.

June..I didn't know it ever snowed in Sydney either.I remember we were at the drive-in and had to keep starting the car to put the heater on.On the way home we could not believe seeing it snow either. The next day at Sunday School there was still a few patches of it under trees so it lasted a good while.

There is nothing I can do for the ewe. There is nothing the Vet can do in this situation. She looks like she's given up. I could spend a fortune on surgery to sew up the tears, and pump her full of IV antibiotics, but if a sheep gives up, nothing can save them.
