Suzy, I would have liked to see the Eagles, but it was connected with Richard's work. I bet your hubby would enjoy Jethro Tull live. I was never a massive music lover but have enjoyed all the live concerts we have been to over the past few years. Really did enjoy Ian Anderson just before Xmas. The only concert we have planned at the moment is James Taylor at the Royal Albert Hall in October (this was my xmas present from Richard)
I feel lucky too for being able to go away as often as we do. None of the holidays are very expensive which is why we can do it as often.

June, my shoulder is nowhere near as bad as yours! If i do the wrong thing it hurts for a while, but it doesn't keep me awake and I haven't taken any pain killers. I just swear a bit on occasion....

Brenda, Jethro Tull are playing at the Opera House. There's a good chance the tickets will cost more than your weekend away! There wasn't a link to buy tickets and there was for the others so I'm not sure they're available yet..

Anecdote: shhh

The gardeners at D's complex were almost blocking the road in and D said she would talk to them but it would be awkward since he'd seen her nekkid. Your gardener has seen you nekkid??!! She blushed and told me the story. She was in the shower when her smoke alarm went off. You have kids and your smoke alarm goes off, you run to make sure nothing is burning and apparently you don't stop to grab a towel. Her blinds were open... I laughed so hard!! Mean mum!

I am up early today, 4 am. Do not want to miss too much of my birthday perhaps? I think it really is because I slept so much yesterday. Not yet happy with results of this pain block, hope it gets better as time passes. If Heidi is correct and ones that hurt last much longer, it should.

I will need to get outside and water, a week with no rain, so the new plantings need a drink. I have them covered with soaker hoses, just need to go out and reconnect the hose to the hose bib. there is a story about that for later. That will water all the new plantings in back garden. I will have to string hoses to the alley, that or take multiple watering cans full, I think the hose will be easier. One good soaking today should do us until the rainy week about a week out.

Story of the hose bib. Sunday afternoon I was coming from building 1 to 2 over the 'bridge', must go through the waiting area for laundry in building 1. Met up with Naomi doing laundry, stopped for a chat. She tells of taking her dog out to the back garden that morning, and letting him off leash for a run and to do his business, when the gate to a secluded area opens and a man comes in. she is all concerned cause he let her dog out, a dog that is not very good at coming when called. she gets the dog back on leash, asks the man if he is a resident, to which he replies NO. 'what are you doing here then?' He was doing his laundry, at the hose bib that is outside the gate, in an area shielded from view in all directions. He had a plastic waste paper can that he had procured from out back porch, to do his laundry, with detergent, so he had been up on the porch at some point. Did she call police that we had an intruder? No staff is in building on weekends. Nope, she felt sorry for him, homeless and needing to do his laundry, at least he was trying to keep clean. About this time Pat joined us, and she went off on Naomi, NO, do not talk to them, feel sorry for him, there are facilities within 2 blocks either direction where he can do laundry, get meals and even clean clothes. He does not need to be here. We convinced her at last, I hope, that although many of the homeless we see about the park are harmless, there could be that one who is not, and no way to tell. best to call police, as we are instructed by management, and let them sort it out. We tried to convince her that she shold write this up and turn in to management. I am not sure she will.

Now on Friday I was in the garden, happened to look out that gate, and noticed the hose I use to water the garden was disconnected from the hose bib. I wondered why, but since I did not need it Friday, did not go and reconnect. I thought perhaps maintenance had disconnected it for some reason. Now I believe our visitor has been making use of that water for some time. I will get someone to go out on patio with me while I connect and turn it on, and will also warn the ladies who use the other Y on that hose bib they must be careful going out the gate

they must be careful going out the gate to turn on water for their veggie patch over back garden wall.

Today I must call downstairs and report that my AC is not working properly. I noticed a couple times yesterday I woke wet with sweat, did not pay attention, thought just reaction to the meds. Nope, my apartment had got up to 79 and humid, AC usually keeps it about 72 at same setting it was yesterday. It is not working properly. Yesterday was hottest day we have had, up to 97 outside. AC running all night, it is still not cool in here. outside temp has not dropped below 80 over night, this is unusual for June, more August temps. We go from cooler than usual May and early June to a very HOT late June, I want last weeks temps and low humidity back please.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Another anecdote: D2 and I were driving home when she recognised 2 girls in the car beside us. One of them is a feminist, thinks women are better than men and argues a lot about it. I said a feminist is someone who believes in equal rights, she's just an itch, in fact I think she's the female equivalent of a mysoginist. Is there a word for that?

MizT, it's kind of scary that people can just come and go like that! The homeless man is probably harmless, but someone else using that access may not be.

I hope your air conditioning is fixed quickly, though with those temps it may have just not been able to keep up! I don't really hope you have the change come through though... Don't the changes make your pain worse?

Happy Birthday, MizT. Your present will be on it's way tomorrow once I have my truck back. IH has had it all week. He had to go up to Wisconsin to meet with his brother's doctors. His brother Jon is in the hospital after nearly killing himself with alcohol abuse. IH and his sister got power of attorney (medical only) and had him hospitalized before he died. He hadn't been eating, and was near death from malnutrition. He's lost most of his memory and has been imagining things happened that didn't. He thinks the reason he's in the hospital is because he was just shot twice in the abdomen while fighting at Pearl Harbor during the bombing. Keep in mind that he was born 9 years after Pearl Harbor. He thinks the bombing was a couple of weeks ago. And ha has no memories at all of the past 15 to 20 years. Gil is happy with his progress in the hospital he was just moved to last week (for Alzheimer's patients), since he ate semi solid food for the first time yesterday and has started to be able to walk a few steps.

So when the person who did your ultrasound offers to help you get dressed does that mean she saw something or was it just you nearly bursting into tears that did it?

IH is back home. He's pleased with his brother's progress physically, tho' they don't know if Jon will regain his memory. I'm not optimistic, since alcohol kills brain cells. They don't know how much is brain damage and how much is denial. Part of the problem is his subconscious refusal to take responsibility for this. He still believes that he doesn't have a drinking problem. His brain is telling him that he's not in the hospital from anything that HE did. He thinks he's in there because somebody shot him while he was fighting at Pearl Harbor. He claims that he was up in a German fighter plane (yes, he says German) in a dog fight, and was shot down. Not only is he historically inaccurate, but very confused. Gil told me that he's finally becoming aware that he's in a hospital. Wednesday he asked Gil where he was?, and how long he'd been there?. I don't know how much he retained, though. The only good thing that's happened is that IH has cut back his alcohol consumption a little. But the first thing he did when he got home late last night was to down a large bourbon on the rocks. At least he did no damage to my truck. And he raved about how well she runs.

Heidi, so sorry to hear of Gil's Brother's plight at the moment. Yes, it will be hard for him to accept responsibility for his condition. denial is a very strong self preservation tool, even when preserving a falsehood. I am glad Gil is cutting back on his alcohol consumption, and hope that continues. I know you are happy that truck came back without damage. Could Gil be growing up and becoming more responsible at last?

Suzi, I think the reason was the tears. I am glad she offered the assistance, whatever the reason. Now who was having the ultrasound and for what reason? I must have missed a post somehow.

Broni, I had wondered where you were, but thought it was just getting new computer up and running that kept you away. Happy it was a fun reason, an early visit from your cousin. Hope you enjoyed/are enjoying the visit.

JULIE, thanks for popping in so we know you are just busy and nothing bad is keeping you from visiting with us.

Many thanks for all the birthday greetings. Nothing special on my birthday, but today we are having the June birthday party downstairs. the staff is giving this party, usually it is one of the local churches, but staff does do about one a year, and we are lucky enough to have them this year. I have a new pair of sandals to wear today, so yesterday I stopped in the beauty shop on site (open one and a half days a week) and had my toes done! Now the sandals are unusual, because for the last 5 years or more, I have worn nothing but Crocs. Started cause my feet hurt so badly I could not keep on any other shoe. Now, wearing Crocs so long has helped my feet, and I can wear a real show on occasion. Not having to walk long distances has helped also I am sure. so today is another dress up day for the birthday girls and guys, for the guests dressing up is optional.

I must get up and about, I want to do a load of laundry before the party this afternoon, and I need to freeze the remainder of the veg lasagna for later use.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Hope things improve for your brother in law Heidi. You never know with some proper nutrition and hydration he may regain a little of his senses. Pleased that the plight of his brother has made Gil think about his drinking habits. One scotch on the rocks is ok but when it regularly becomes three or four the a probldm could be developing.

Tricia, enjoy your party. How nice that you have something to dress up for. You will look lovely with your new hair do and sandals.
A wrong number phone call at 2am woke me and I need to get up and move around. What better place to be but here.
Suzie I hope the ultra sound helps them sort out your shoulder problems. Knowing how hard it can be to get dressed with shoulder problems could be why you were asked if you needed help. I was generally able to pick up all the results of my tests to take to the Dr. so I could read what they said almost straight away. Not that I always understood everything in the reports.

Greetings to all! I need to head to bed. (Well, actually the recliner. Still sleeping there since I am not yet cleared to use the C-PAP machine (too much pressure around my nose) so can't sleep lying down.

D and SIL have movers coming Monday, so tomorrow we're headed there to help with moving very fragile items. We'll bring home their miniature schnauzer when we come home. It will be better for her to be visiting us during the commotion of moving. The has spent as much as 2 weeks with us, so this should just seem like one of her 'vacations.' Then they'll try to get her new 'home' set up before we return her. Though she is allowed on their bed during the day, she sleeps in her crate at night. They will try to get things as similar to their previous apartment as possible to let her know it is her new home.

Sending lots of , positive thoughts, prayers, healing vibes, and {{{{{HUGS & JUGS}}}}} for everyone!

Greetings friends, a sunny Saturday morning has started here, with humidity too high once again. Dew Point is a bit less for today, but still up in the 'we gonna have t storms' area. Little pop up popcorn t storms danced around us last night, not a drop here, just the humidity from it, bummer. Well, garden was watered thoroughly and is good for another 4 days without rain, at least.

While downstairs, inside cooling down after a bit in the garden, a couple of residents from our Association were asking if I needed anything for the garden. Yes, I need one soaker hose, one regular hose, and some bug spray. At first they suggested I make a request at next months meeting, but then aasked, do you need those NOW? Yep, now, gotta kill off those insects eating our plants. they remembered they can allocate up to $100 to any 'immediate need' without it being voted upon, from petty cash, and told me to make a list with prices and they will get me a check. I will probably just order them online for store pickup, at Lowes, I love that service, and go get them today. They can repay me later.

The birthday party yesterday was great! Do you remember me saying last week I was asked to come down to have a photo taken, supposedly for some promotion for EP? Well, they took our photo under false pretenses hehehe. As our birthday gift, we each received a framed photograph of ourselves, done by a professional photographer. He was good, made us old folks look nice! One of the guys, I promise you, the photo looks like one made to go on the back cover of his latest novel, which he has not written yet hehehe. Very professional looking with just a touch of arrogance, it was a great photo of him. Most older folks I know just do not take time to have a professional photograph taken, so this is something I can leave my children.

Refreshments were wonderful, a mini fruit plate with strawberry, blueberries, watermelon, plus the birthday cake, and ICE CREAM FLOATS! How long has it been since you had an ice cream float? for most of us, it has been decades! Way too much carbs, but it was my birthday celebration, and I gave myself permission to enjoy. I was given extra strawberries from table mates who did not eat them, yumm. I did leave the potato chips, though.

the staff at EP gave this party, they had rock and roll music playing, and some of them danced as they served plates and floats hehehe. they had a video camera, and Jan was having trouble seeing if she had it on video or snapshots, so she had us all to raise our hands and wave them about! We laughed at her ineptness, and it took one of the residents, who still video's weddings for spending money, to get her set straight.

I must finish my breakfast and get outside fore it gets to the 90's today. I am trying to clean the old dead winter killed leaves from a long row of cast iron plants. A bit a day, it will get done. I need mosquito repellant though, and do not have any! Hope some fabric softener sheets w

Julie, besides telling you that you cannot yet use the CPAP machine, what else did the surgeon say about you during your visit this week. If you have said already, my apology, I missed seeing. It sounds as if you will have your hands full, helping daughter pack then keeping your grand dog until they get settled. Have you said where they are moving? Closer to you or further away?

HEIDI, thinking of you at the festival. I hope your booth is successful, and that you enjoy yourself meeting new people who visit your booth. Manning a booth at any gathering is hard work, I do hope you have help so you can get away occasionally for a break, to get something to eat and drink and other necessary things. Thinking of you today. You surely are getting good use of your RV, so happy that you bought that. Many who have those do not utilize them, you are the exception to that. Do come back and tell us about your day.

June, it seems like you are like me, once you are awakened in middle of night, you are up for a spell. I hate phone calls middle of the night, gives me such an adrenalin rush. I guess I need it to get awake and answer, but you always expect the worse and are gearing up to take care of some emergency, only to find it is a wrong number. I find it helps me to get back to sleep if I just get up and do something physical for a bit, walk, wash dishes or wash out shirts, sweep the floor. any of those would help use up that circulating adrenalin faster, and help me then get back to sleep. I hope you were not awake for long, and yes, no better place to be than Sudokuland when you cannot sleep. June, here if they do give results to a patient to return to the doc, which is rare, they would be in a sealed envelope. It is as if your own records are top secret from you, the patient. Go figure.

Brenda, I join you in hoping some good nutrition and hydration will help Gil's brother regain some of his mental capacity. Alcohol does cause dehydration, and dehydration can cause many physical and mental problems.

Suzy, have you heard anything about your results from the ultra sound on shoulder? I do hope you find some little something wrong that is easily repaired. I remember many years ago, having a 'frozen shoulder', first right one, then left. So many things I could not do, including dressing myself. Putting on a bra was impossible alone, until hubby bought me a front hook bra. That I could get on by myself, been wearing front hooks ever since.

Time to get busy again. I only did a little in the garden, mosquitoes were nibbling me. I did not find dryer sheets to see if that would help. I need to order and make a pick up from Lowes, and also pick up a perscription for Myra. Her BP has shot up again, every time she gets up and walks anywhere. I think her O2 is dropping so low, her heart is trying to compensate for the lack of oxygen in the blood by circulating more, and only way to do that is raise it's pressure. Happy Saturday folks. Touching base with nothing much to report. Glad things seem to be fairly stable around here...hope those who are busy are also staying well and not overdoing and those who wish to be busy find things of interest and get their wishes fulfilled. Good to hear how nice the staff made your birthday and those of the others too Tricia. Heidi, I too hope their is continued improvement for your B.I.L, and Gil continues to making change in his lifestyle that are helpful to him. Suze...I too think tears will make others aware that help is a good thing to offer.June, I so understand how annoying wrong numbers in the middle of the night can be, but whatever brings you here is welcomed. I'm okay, but am having pain in my legs, ankles and foot. I do believe I have developed deep vein thrombosis due to my medications and need to sort treatment with my
doctor. I move my feet about when sitting awhile and make sure I walk about, but using the computer as often may also add to the pain...scary, but things will work out in a good way I hope. My sister is out of the hospital, but not out of danger. Her Granddaughter is doing all she can to
keep her comfortable, but needed treatments take at least an hour daily and are hard on her. I am asking that you keep her in prayer...Many thanks and please take care of yourselves. Peace.

And Tricia, I was guilty with a phone call to you. That was because I had seen you had posted shortly before, not knowing you had gone back to bed!
Yesterday my left hand did not work till about midday. Then last night I went to bed about 10pm, woke once but just turned over and back to sleep and did not get up till 6.30am. A long time since I have done that. Also my hands are not as swollen today.

June, it was not a problem your phoning while I was in bed. I was not sound asleep, just that not asleep not awake but I really do not mind feeling. It just took me so long to get out of bed and find the cell phone, and all that after I realized what that noise was even about hehehe. You may wake me anytime for a chat, cause I realize it is hard to figure the time difference. You had no way of knowing I had gone back to bed, so all is forgiven.

OH Dear, I do not like hearing your hand did not work yesterday morning. That nerve must be severely involved to cause paralysis of the hand. Do keep a list of when and how that is happening, as detailed as possible, it might help the doc. We want you all better, with no pain, more good night's sleep like you had, and both hands working.

Mama, your sister is added to my list for thoughts and prayers. I do hope she can be more comfortable. You too are added, you do need to get docs working on that foot an leg pain. Keep us informed, you know we need to know!

After all my errands, I was really tired. Did a late nap, and woke feeling like I had been hit by a truck. Was just almost time for meds, so I fudged about 15 minuets and got that going. Today had gone so well up until that point, I had been going closer to 6 hours instead of 4, of the 4 to 6 hour instructions on bottle this time. I did more walking than usual today, at grocery, did a brief walk through a thrift store, and through the garden shop looking for plants. I took a look at weather, and yep, just north, less than an hour away, is a big t storm, and it is headed southeast. If it continues to build as it has, we might get rain. In any event it is very near and enough to make old bones ache, bummer.

OH, I planted cleome seeds at the end of the new bed out by the alley, just a week ago, and I see tiny little first leaves scattered about already!

I am going to hold down my recliner for a while, and decide what I want to do tomorrow. choices are laundry, if I can get to the preferred laundry room. the elevator in our building is not working It was repaired twice, It just does not answer calls for it, bummer. There is a connection from other building across, but there are 2 fire doors to negotiate in a small space, not sure I can do that while balancing a laundry basket. A friend offered to come hold doors for me but I opted out of laundry today in favor of shopping.

If we do not have rain, I will have to water containers tomorrow, that is priority one. I need to cook something, I am tired of vegie lasagna or fajitas. Want to make zucchini muffins, too. And Jean, president of the resident's association, just phoned me to report she had found some little wooden stools. I had mentioned I want something for sitting to pull weeds and cut out dead stuff, and she found these little wooden stools at an antique/junk store not far away. I need to check that out, since the association will buy me a stool! I think they want me to k

Tricia, shopping is always more fun than laundry. I have some weeding to do and some plants to put in. I can get up easier from sitting on the ground than the 10 inch high seat I have.
