Nola, I'm guessing you lost another post. I understand your frustration. I don't even try to post from my phone or iPad anymore...
Bickering teenagers! The good news is they get along a lot better when they don't live together... and are a lot older!
Theresa, it must be a relief to have help coming in for your FIL. Hopefully they are a caring care worker and are patient with the foibles of the elderly.
Today is a filling and another trip to the gym.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. We are going to lunch at the Lobster Shop (Suzy has been there). I will not have lobster (Laura will) but I will have some oysters.
Neil is here from Melbourne and there will be Ken, Belinda , Laura and her father. A quite warm day but we can eat either inside or on the veranda.
I woke at 3.30 this morning and wondered why I had so many new messages until I remembered it was my day and there were lots of messages from this Sudoku people. It does make the day special.

Forgot my manners folks..please excuse me...Good evening and Happy day... all is well or I should say pretty good...not too much pain and tomorrow I find out the results from my stress test. I think my ticker is a-ok, but we'll see what the test showed.
Hope all is well with everyone and hope the flu situation clears up at the nursing home Theresa and your MIL is better. Nola, I know how tempting it must be to get rid of the place, but I also hope you can get a good price. Cyn...teenagers and terrible twos are both so hard to live through..but this too shall pass...Heidi...glad your cows brought your a good price...but it was expected with the care you oversee for them.
Ok folks..I'm outofhere...Peace.

Just popping in to say Hello! Tonight was our woodturning club meeting. Yesterday we printed all 105 membership cards (10 per page, so much less card stock wasted if we just print the whole group, rather than batches as we receive dues. Spent most of today getting the annual membership cards, receipts, and thank-you letter stuffed in envelopes & envelopes addressed. Also had a color code on envelopes and name badges for those who had paid so we could hand out membership cards to those in attendance at the meeting. Postage would be around $90 if we mailed all of them, so we try to hand out as many as possible at the meeting. Another 24 members paid at the meeting, so approximately half have paid. The organization certainly helped, especially when 3, 4, or 5 people arrived at the table at the same time to check in and pay. Now I'm pretty exhausted, so must say good night. I didn't have time to practice the cello today, and tomorrow is my lesson, so I need to get up early to practice.
Happy Birthday, June!
Happy Anniversary, Rolanda and Peter! (Sorry, no anniversary smilie.)
Theresa, I'm glad you can keep in touch with your MIL via phone. Hopefully the residents will all be well soon, and visitors won't bring in any new viruses! Good news that your FIL has a daily care giver!

Morning all.
Night before last MIL was on respirator to help her breathing. She felt better last night and talked to my daughter for over an hour. Here's hoping this thing going around clears up and we can go back to visiting. My heart breaks.
The January thaw is over and we are back to more normal temperatures (high of minus 1C today) and it's currently snowing. Hubby has a cold but it doesn't seem to be as bad as the last one. I think I'm coming down with it ... he believes in sharing.

I really hope that bug clears up soon, Theresa. Nobody is happy with the status quo.
Winter has returned here. We'd been having unseasonably warn weather the past few days, accompanied by rain, and the mud is unbelievable. Now it's below freezing, but not quite cold enough to freeze the mud solid.

Hi all.
Belated Happy Birthday June. Hope the dinner of oysters and the family get together was lovely.
Theresa...recently, our facility was closed also but for a gastro outbreak. It was cleared just before xmas thank goodness.
While contemplating if I would take the offer on Judys unit, we got offered another $5,000.
I am waiting for the paperwork but will accept this offer. Early days though, as it is still subject to finance.
Renae and family were here for dinner last night.I made chicken casserole and salad.Just had ice-cream and a frozen cheesecake for dessert as it was fairly warm weather.
Enjoy your day everyone.

We all had a lovely lunch for my birthday. It was extra special being able to have son Neil with us for the day. He flew back to Melbourne (and the heat) early this morning. Laura and Belinda both had lobster and I had my half dozen oysters. I then went Asian and had prawns and cashews.

Hi Viv, nice to see you drop in. Hope some nice see breezes have been keeping you cool.
We have not had it anywhere near as hot as Adelaide and Melbourne. We only got to about 33*c here today and as it was only about 18*c overnight we could get plenty of sleep. It did get the washing dry very quickly though!

Yes very hot as my sisters tell me who live in Geelong. We get a lovely North Easterly most days and it sits on about 29c.
One of my sisters has shouted us a holiday again to Geelong. We are going down from 29th Nov. to 22nd Dec. Always nice to go back to my home town.

Great seeing you here, Viv. I've missed your vivacious self.
IH did it again. KNOWING we were going to get a hard freeze, he left the float valve on the water hydrant and froze it solid AGAIN! I'm going out in a few minutes to work on defrosting it. I also need to work on replacing a corner of the weaning pen where a large tree fell on it. IH's solution was to tie a bunch of old, busted, gates over the holes. It looks awful, and if the calves actually hit it, it would crumble. (If they bust through, tho' they's just wind up inside the horse pasture with it's solid perimeter fence.) He's been screaming at me to fix the problem, but in his mind that means patching it with stronger junk. I want to rebuild it the way it was.

busy day in the kitchen yesterday and this morning, and not finished yet. I am making broccoli cheese soup for our residents soup lunch tomorrow. Full fat, not anything low calorie about this, but once in a while it is worth the calories! I found the recipe for Panera Bread's Broccoli Cheese soup, and since it was the one most similar to the recipe I used years ago, I used that, with a few tweaks of my own.
No way I could make a quadruple batch all at once, so I am making it in 3 batches. One and 2 are finished! I will do the third either tonight of first in the morning. Probably first in the morning, I am not sure I have large enough containers nor refrigerator space for storing 3 batches overnight. It is sooooo good, wish you could all join us for lunch tomorrow!
I spent 30 minuets yesterday just caramelizing the onions, oh that is a bit of work but so worth it. That is one of my tweaks. Caramelizing just releases a flavor you cannot get from a boiled onion
I do not have enough for tomorrows batch, need to do that again. Well, I can get that part done today, the onions are reduced so it will not take much room for them!
Heidi, I can only imagine what Gil did to 'repair' the weaning pen. I hope it holds together until you can have time and energy to repair it. I do hope you can have help doing this, sounds like a big job.
Viv, I am happy that you have cooler temps due to the North Easterly. One Aussie I did not have to worry about nearly as much.
Everyone keep safe in all the terrible heat and fires. June, the one thing you have that we do not here, is some relief at nights, the temps do drop more there come nightfall than they do here. Benefits of a desert climate. the low humidity does help with drying the laundry also. On our few days with very low humidity this winter, I noticed even inside how quickly my hand wash would dry.
Nola, good news that you got an increase in the offer on the unit. I do hope the financing goes well and soon that sale is done and dusted.
Hi Julie, bye Julie! So glad you dropped in to let us know you were OK. I can understand your not being able to read and post, you do keep a busier schedule than some of us!
Theresa, I do hope your MIL is doing better. Being on a ventilator is a scary thing to have to endure. Sending get well wishes and thoughts for her and hugs to you.
Mama, do you have the results of your stress test yet? Hope all is A OK.
I am kind of stuck in my appartment today. New flooring is being installed on the 'bridge' between the two buildings. I will have to go down to first floor, out the door and over to EP1. I can get out that door, not automatic, but have real trouble getting my chair back IN that door. will have to ask someone to walk out with me and hold the door I imagine. there is a way to cross over through the stairwell, where both buildings use one stair. Two doors there, both open inward to the stairwell landing. Again, I can get in, but not

Again, I can get in, but not back out pulling that door toward me. So for me, that is not an option in my chair. I do know one lady who manages that, but she has been in a chair for years, and has figured out how to do that. I am afraid in backing up, I might miss judge and fall down the stairs!! I will only make one trip over today, that for my hair appointment! YEAH, haircut time today!
Now my back is begging for a rest. I think I will sit myself in my recliner with my trashy book and escape for a while! OK, did not know this one was so XXX rated when I got it free on BookBub.com, but it does have a bit of a plot with it hehehe.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

OK... the ground is too frozen to dig out the concrete base to the broken off fence post, so the weaning pen repair job is on the back burner for a few days. Instead, we caught an escaped cow (she revolted over her calf being weaned), loaded her into the stock trailer, and returned her to her herd mates. Then I scraped out the feedlot with my tractor, hooked up the tractor to the creep feeder that was filled with 4 tons of feed yesterday, re-inflated the tires on the creep feeder, then towed it with the tractor from behind the house, onto the road, and over to our little feedlot (a half mile drive), where I positioned it on the freshly scraped off concrete. Then we unhooked the tractor and leveled the creep feeder. The calves are happily scarfing down their tasty feed. It's now break time for me.

Heidi, I hope the calves grow quickly. Just what is a creep feeder? It sounds as if it moves about under it's own steam hehehe.
Got hair cut today and again, she cut a bit more than I wanted from length. but it is neat, the top that was so heavy is light and easy to keep styled and the dry hair look is gone, it was only split ends making it look dry!
No more cooking tonight, if I am not able to finish tomorrow morning, they can make do with what I have. I found there are now five making soup. I am just hurting to much to think about cooking. Mighty glad I have at least 2 or 3 choices of already cooked meals for tonight.
I am climbing into bed until this medication works. I am freezing as well as hurting, and it is NOT cold in my house. Heck, I have on my heavy fleece lined jacket and still cold. I have no idea what is causing this flare today, it is turning colder outside, but no big storms or anything at the moment. Catch you later. Hugs to each of you with extras.

It's a feeder that holds up to 4 tons of specially balanced feed for growing calves, and it has barriers to prevent cows from getting to the feed, but calves have no problem reaching it. Since only calves have access to it right now, the barriers are raised. It also has 2 wheels, a hitch tongue on one end and leveling jacks on both ends.

Thank you Heidi for the reply. Do you have any idea why they call it a creep feeder? I did find out that the feed is also called creep feed. just wonder how it got that name.
Pain is better, down to manageable levels. It has been a while since it has been that bad. I am going back to bed now, had my dinner and some of my night time meds. I think a good night's rest is what I need. I got warm again once the pain went down, but I kept on my warm jacket just the same thank you, it felt good!

I went to lunch with my sister today and when I got back to the car I had a very flat tire. Luckily I saw it before I got in the car.
Then got frustrated trying to contact first hubby and then road service (we are a gold member). Then my mobile ran out of money so I went to the shop and the assistant said I could no longer pay $30 for 12 months, only 6 months. I was getting too stressed to argue! so paid that amount. (I have a new phone so I might use that up). But he did let me ring the road service on the shop phone and they were there in about 15 minutes. just time for me to have a toilet stop! There is a screw in our new tire (6 weeks since they were all replaced). Ken took out insurance when he bought them so it will be repaired cost free.
I once used to change the tires myself but last time I tried the nuts were on too tight. Anyway that is what we pay our membership for.

That sounds SO frustrating, June. I'm glad Ken had the foresight to get protection on those new tires. I'm always impressed with anyone's hubby who can think for himself, and plan in advance for emergencies. I wish come of it would rub off on my great lump of uselessness.

I have a dental appointment at 10 am. A routine cleaning and check-up, primarily, but I also have a loose crown which may have a broken root. I don't feel any discomfort since that tooth, and the ones on either side, had root canals back in '91. It's just annoying when I eat because it wobbles so much, and food wraps around it. I hope I'm not looking at another implant.

Warm Greetings from cold Illinois!
Viv, it's great to 'see' you here, and glad to hear that your north easterly breezes help to keep temperatures a bit more moderate. I'm glad your energy and stamina lasted while you were decorating the bedroom!
June, your birthday dinner with family, including son Neil, sounds fabulous. And lunch with your sister seems a bonus! Too bad you came out to find a flat tire. Thank goodness you have road service AND insurance!
Heidi, I hear your frustration and don't know how you can put up with IH and his shenanigans. It's amazing that he apparently doesn't mind looking like an i----, as most men I know prefer flaunting their intelligence (real or imagined). I'm glad it's not imperative that you repair the fence immediately. I hope you don't work too hard and aggravate your back!
MizT, I hope you're feeling better! That's quite an undertaking to make multiple batches of soup (which sounds yummy)! Will someone be available to help you transport it to the dining room/cafeteria tomorrow? I can't wait to hear how well the other residents like it.
There's apparently a large need for blood products because of the weather. I was called today to see if I could donate platelets again in the next few days. They can be donated once a week. It has been exactly one week since I last donated.
Time to say, 'Good Night!' Positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers,

Greetings friends. Awake this morning to find a lovely sunny day but baby it is COLD outside! It should warm up considerably as the day progresses. Those sunny windows do add heat to my apartment.
It took about 2 hours last night before I got warm again. Suzy, yes, it felt like a fever, but you know, I did not have an elevated temp. I took it to see. Just a strange reaction of this body of mine.
June, yes, I slept very well thank you, and even slept in a while this morning. Having breakfast here with my friends, anyone care to join me? the coffee is very nice today. I too am glad you have roadside assistance. Once those lug nuts are put on with an air wrench, they are impossible to get off with ordinary tools. Sorry you had such a frustrating time with the tire and the phone.
I have roadside assistance through my auto insurance. It only added $4 a month to my insurance bill, and is well worth it. The first time I had to pay for a tire change, I was shocked at the amount we were charged!! This was while Al was sick and unable to do it. Next day we had the coverage. Used it twice before moving up here, for a tire and for a flat battery. I think I am still still ahead of the game
those two trips would have cost more than I have paid in.
Julie, I will have to phone someone to ask for assistance in getting the soup downstairs. I am sure I can get someone.
Yesterday I was down getting my hair cut. When leaving to come back to apartment, I did have assistance getting the door opened to enter building two. One of the residents, Julian, was down in the lobby and going back out and up himself. He waited till I was ready to go and held the door for me. I just find it hard to ask for help, you know? Accustomed to doing it all by myself, thank you.
Time to get started on my day. Lunch will be here before you know it. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Never made it to the dentist's. We're having a snowstorm, and the roads are a mess. Normally, the drive to the dentist's is 50 minutes, but I gave up after I had only gotten 6 miles in 20 minutes. I called them and rescheduled, then turned around to go back home. The return drive took 30 minutes! At that rate, it would have taken me 3 hours to get there on increasingly dangerous roads. Not worth my life.
