Self Portrait

Hello !

I live on Cape Fear, south of Wilmington NC in the USA.

(Yes, there really is a Cape Fear -- it's not just in the movies!)

Cool

Welcome to my art gallery.   Below are a few images of my paintings.  I normally work in  gouache and ink resist, which continues to be exciting.  You can see more by clicking here.

Step right in ... Enjoy!

Hi Kay! I just had to stop by your gallery after how much I enjoyed your painting of the sand dollar. Your pictures are lovely.
I, too, love how we get to travel the world (and it's art galleries) as we solve the puzzles.
Stop by my place for a chat sometime - no paintings there...but you are welcome!
Just beware of the cat!

Hi Kay,
Thanks for sharing yor work with us. I had heard of that technique but don't understand how to do it. I just checked out on the internet but didn't find a good exlantion. I used to do oil painting...but now my fav medium is water color. My best is water color portraits.... and i love to paint flowers and dogs.
I left some brownies for you to enjoy...

Hi Kay - what a treat to wake up to the coffee and donuts (bagels??) you left for me - thanks!
Are you on the coast in NC? I have not traveled the east coast...only as far as Chicago, where I lived for a few years in the mid 70's.
I grew up in Hayward (just a bit north-east of Los Gatos), but lived most of life in Monterey before my husband and I retired to the mountains. We love it up in the Sierras (we're sort of near Lake Tahoe)...especially the winters and snow!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Hi Kay, a super picture on the jigsaws today, and thanks for the explanation of your daughter's work and research, although I wouldn't want the role of collecting the urine samples!

Hi, Kay. Thanks for last night's note: "She was a cutie, Judy. I love that blue carpet, by the way"
You can see larger versions of my pet pix on my page. They are just snap shots, but mean a lot to me.
Hope you are doing well

Hi Kay! I enjoy reading your comments, and chuckled mightily over your "red flower", "blue flower" confession! I enjoy this website a lot - I, too, enjoy learning about places and their flora and fauna - it can be very educational to read the comments!

Kate, thanks for your message regarding the fish!
"I will dig up my notes (yes, I More...

keep them all) from that piece and let you know soon! I was more concerned with the colors than I was the species at the time, so the species doesn't stick out in my memory"
Aren't the organized one. I'm impressed! You are such fun -- glad to have you as a friend!

Kay, I hope you spend your special day surrounded by the people you love and doing those things that bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart and may those feelings last well into your own new year. I am so happy that I visited your site and that you shared your artwork. I am not familiar with this medium, but it produces vibrant colors and exquisite detail.

Take care and nice visiting you!
Aimee :-)

Hi Kay!
Finally, I have allowed (by Verizon) to enter the more modern world and have DSL, so I could - at last - view all your gallery photos! Lovely! I wish I could keep two pages open so I could talk about your paintings while looking at them - but I'll revisit for sure.
I have a question: what is the NGS site for their puzzles - sounds good (as if I need more computer distraction) and I'd like to try them.
I have been reading your sorrows about the weather - it is cold, frozen and gray up here in WV, and I am working on a positive attitude (ha!!!) to get me through the winter. Today will be balmy (it may reach low 40's) and if the ground allows, I must quickly put in about 120 grape hyacinths and hope they have time to settle in before the real winter freezes the ground. I had a patio built to replace a scuzzy looking front yard, and have been spending time transplanting the moss I saved between the stones' spaces - boy, oh boy, oh howdy am I tired of freezing fingers already!!! My tufted titmice are eating at the feeder about four feet away from me as I work on the computer - they're sociable little fellows, and came to fly around my head yesterday while I was filling feeders. I am trying to place feeders where squirrels can't get to them - they spill seed, the birds then eat it on the deck and are endangered by my cats - and I feed the squirrels away from the bird area, and the deer eat the squirrels' food. Talk about no-win! But I love them all, so I fixed a tray with corn, hoping to distract the deer, and put peanuts in it for the squirrels, too. Monday is the BAD DAY: hunting season begins and I must wear orange (hat and vest) to take out the compost, go to my car, and walk the dog who will have to be leashed. So you might say I live closely with wildlife - animal, bird and human!
Keep warm!

Hi Kay!
Yep, it was me all right! The message is still on your page (I checked) but how the heck did you get a message sent to my "In Box"? There is sooo much about this website that I do not understand! And I did say flattering things about your art work - you have quite a style, much like reality as seen through stained glass - I love it!
Thanks for the Nat Geo website link, too. I hope you are o.k. now - I think I remember (this is as good as it gets these days!) comments on the puzzle pages about your having medical problems, and hope you are recovering - or recovered - from them. Now is a bad time to go wonky - with holidays thundering in upon us! That was a veiled wish for good health for you.
Also I see you are a Virgo (?) too? I am the 9th of September. I am "officially old" now - filled out all the stuff for Medicare and have decided with the inefficiency and stupid mistakes the folks at Social Security made, it might have been a lot easier to just die or move to another country! I'm reasonably educated and still found the process confusing - and it wasn't helped by staff who failed to record info that I brought with me to the SS office! But no more ranting on that score - it's done. Oh my!!! Sigh!!
