How nice of you to leave fruit and meats when I only left a dessert. Our equivalent in North Amarica to biltong is probably beef jerky, although its probably not spiced in the same fashion. Thanks again, and some Canadian wine for you to enjoy!

Believe me Helena, it becomes very addictive. I have just spent an entire Saturday in and out of the Sudokuaholics Anon page! In fact, my H(husband) just burst out laughing. He reckons that two days ago, I didn't even know how to turn the pooter on, now I dont know how to turn it off!

HELENA, I happened to read about your watermellon Jam. would be interested in how it is made, if you know. My father once made a sweet preserves ( big pieces of the 'fruit' in a heavy carmalized sugar syrup) from water mellon rinds. It is not womething I have seen since, and wondered if your watermellon jam was similar.

Looks like I have never visited your page before, so I shall leave you my traditional hostess gift, some home made apple butter and a window box of tulips.

, yes, that sounds just like I remember my Dad making them! Oh they were yummy on a buttered buscuit at breakfast! I must try making them again , using your recipe. I will let you know when i do. To think, I had to go half way around the world to find someone who knew what I was talking about! Recipe searches or questions to cooks always lead to a savory watermellon pickle, not the sweet treat Dad made.

Helena - LOVE the picture! What is it like to ride a camel? It doesn't look like it would be too comfortable.
Flickr is pretty painless once you get started.

Hi Helena! Amazing trip. Too bad the suitcase had the vacation and not you or your mum. Took a peek at your pictures. You have a lovely family. The pet elephant must be a bear to feed. And the bathing at the top of a waterfall. Whoa! I guess the family that bathes together stays together!
Seriously, I hope your mother is doing better.

Ah heck, Helena, I had visions of grandeur about you. A pet elephant would have been neat!
My aunt had Parkinson and lived with it for years with my uncle attentive at her side. Both were fairly advanced in age before they passed on. In fact my uncle cheated us out of a nintieth birthday celebration by a few months. We were so going to do this big time!
But we remembered him very fondly.

Hi Helena. I just happened to stumble in and see that you asked about reducing the size of your photos. I just had a similar problem of large photos. I uploaded them all, then discovered they were too big to view comfortably , so I removed them, made them smaller, and uploaded them again, with much more satisfactory results. I used this web site: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

I hope things are going well for you. Please stop by for a chat when you have the opportunity.

Cheers.

Helena, thanks for dropping by - loved the Chardonnay - thank you so much. South Africa is known for some good wines!

Pioneer is in California. Actually, my county is also well known for its wines, especially the Zins. The county extends from the foothills (which is the wine country) into the mountains (where I live). I'm about 50 miles from Lake Tahoe.

Where is Pta? Is it near Johannesburg? Is it Pretoria by any chance?

I'd love to visit South Africa someday. It looks like a beautiful place. One of my friends is there right now. She arrived yesterday. I'll be looking forward to hearing all about it when she returns home.

I'm leaving you a bottle of Bella Piazza Zinfandel, one of my favorite Amador County wines. Enjoy it in good health.

Cheers.

Thank you Helena for the information about Pavarotti. This does not sound good, does it? I googled straight away. I didn't realise he had been experiencing such health problems.
Once again, thank you. Proof that this is an educational site.
