Julie, the flowers are a cheery touch on these tough days, and the cinnamon rolls are going down well too! Thanks for continuing to think of us. Mom is soldiering on, despite some goofy stuff happening at the hospital. It seems that in moving her to a different floor, they've changed her diet and managed to neglect her physical and speech therapy. If all is not remedied by my visit tomorrow, there will be hell to pay. My two older siblings continue to perplex and yes, disappoint, carrying on beautifully with their busy lives (both retired) as though mom's days in the hospital aren't long enough. I shake my head, knowing we've been blessed with these bonus years, having nearly lost mom three years ago--hubby and I have been making the most of our time with mom, while the others seem to take her existence for granted. I keep my distance, which keeps me sane and calm. So ever onward, and always grateful for the good fortune I have in knowing nice people like you!

HI JULIE, sorry I keep missing you too!

Yes, the dorm sized fridge was a huge success, when I showed him what he was getting and asked he pick the model. Of course he got the LARGER one, what was I thinking.

Hope to see you soon for a live chat on SA.

Hi Julie, getting late here and I guess is early morning for you. I do enjoy our cyber community with all the loving kindness being shared around. Thanks for your cheery encouragement. I'm taking a rest day after overdoing it a bit. Here's some apple tea cake for you and a drink of your choice.

Hi Julie! I keep missing you so I wanted to check to see how things are going. It is fairly quiet in the house, although Ian (S#2) seems to fill in all of the gaps all by himself. Meghan(D#1)is doing well at BC. She overloaded her classes, is working at a local elementary school 2 days a week and is writing for the school newspaper. I don't know how she does it all. Oh, and she is playing soccer (rec) as well. I just hope she doesn't get sick. She has a tendency to get very sick. Brendan is doing ok I guess. It is hard to get any information from him. The turf burns he got from soccer on his leg and arms are healing. Hopefully he is paying attention to his studies. Bryana (D#2) is also a hard one to read. It seems she is doing ok but her biggest problem is that she is still not connected to the internet. In this day and age, that makes you feel isolated, and being the first time away from home, it must be hard. We're going on Sunday to see if we can fix it ourselves. So, although 3 are out of the house, it seems like we are very busy. Ian has soccer every day after school and his first game is on Wednesday. I hope all is turning out well in your house and that hubby is on the mend. Have a great day and here are some flowers to brighten it!

Julie, you've been the most thoughtful, loyal pal through all of this. By the clock, I figure I get teary about once every two hours. I have mementos of Mom everywhere. The cricifix from the funeral is in the bedroom where she used to sleep when she came for visits. I've also got her little green overnight suitcase packed with her black slippers (which remind me of the times I massaged her feet), a change of clothes (her favourite Maui shirt), pajamas and her crossword puzzle book. Just my way of letting her know she always has a place in our home. Her corduory gardening jacket will hang in the hallway closet beside my father's gray vest. I'm comforted in knowing that I did my darndest to give her the fitting send-off she deserved and that I was snuggled in bed with her in the dark night before she left us, determined to make her journey home peaceful.
Hope you don't mind my expressing myself this way--it really helps. I'm sending you my warmest wishes that you are also surrounded by loving family and friends to bring sunshine into each day ...

Julie, thank you for the message. The Dr. has done a biopsy and we will know the result in a week. I read that about the virus and there is some history of ulcers in her father's side. It took a long time for Sharon to find a Dr. who would believe that Laura had a real problem. Everyone kept saying Laura's problem was "behavioural". It will be nice to see Laura start eating properly once she has the right mediaction.

Julie, I've been in Illinois, but not in about 35 years. I liked it, though. Went to Elgin. Yea, it's a bit far to Toronto for lunch. Ah well, I hope somebody is able to make the effort.

Thanks for stopping in. This is certainly apple cider season, our leaves are just now starting to show some color. A good winter read would be Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged". When you finish it, you will be able to ask; 'Who is John Galt?'.

Thanks Julie for your kind thoughts on the death of my husband, Geoff. Our Sudoku family is a great one to have at any time and its a family of choice. It's an honour to be a member, to have so many friends across the world who can share in our good times, have a laugh with us and also be there for us when we need guidance, comfort or strength when times are tough. Thank you for being a part of that family. Lynne

Hi Julie...I'm trying to pop in and greet my many friends that I have missed like the devil as my chores have increased during Sully's illness. Things are going well, but I remain busy. Looking forward to getting back on site more often and for longer periods...but it won't happen for awhile....so I'll just have to make do. Take good care of yourself and know that you are in my thoughts.
