I put a photo in my gallery of the Nandina in front of my house with its red berries - also a close-up of the berries in ice (we had a big ice storm about two weeks ago). Have you seen them in flower? They have a lovely spray of white flowers in the summer.

Hi Gail. Thanks for the birthday wishes, and the wine of course. I enjoyed it immensely, even if it is only 2pm! You can start drinking whatever time you like on your birthday!

Not to worry Gail that song always brings me to tears. I don't know if I've mentioned that we have our place on the market had some people viewed it yesterday and if the council let them do what they have planned we will have a buyer so I have been potting some of my favorite plants to take with me when we find a new home. Fingers crossed LOL.

GAil, Thank you. I'm glad it's over and extremely glad about the results. My brother is going really well and has become a great advocate of colonoscopies. Without his, who knows what may have happened in 12 months as he had no symptoms at all. Thank goodness he received a testing kit and a reminder letter from the health dept.

That is a lovely photo of your parents. I know I'm late in sending my condolences but I hope your lovely memories of your mum gives you strength in this sad time of grieving.

I lost my dad 21 years ago (I was pregnant with #1 at the time) and even today wish he was here to share things with. My mum is 80 (going ok so far) but getting frailer and more bent with osteoporosis - still lives by herself though. Sometimes, independence in the elderly can be hard on those trying to help them. She lives a good hours drive away from me, so I go once a fortnight to take her shopping. She won't see that living closer to me (and my brother) means she would see more of both of us. That time will come, but unfortunately I think she will have to move to a nursing home rather than a place of her chosing.

Sometimes, it's not our friends' help that helps us, so much as the confident knowledge that they will help us.

I don't know exactly who I'm quoting, but it's always something that I think of in times like these. (with "Ruby" and now with your mother.) You helped my find solace and I just hope that you can find another Gail for your purposes.

Hi Gail - just calling in to thank you for the wonderful birthday greetings. I did indeed have a lovely day, made better by being able to spend it with the whole family. I feel happier than I have in years and I thank you and all my other Sudoku friends for your friendship and support. I love this site.
Gail - it was lovely of you to think of me in your time of sadness. I hope that each day you are feeling just a little bit better.

Hey Girl,
Just dropped in to say g'day, and make sure you are not melting in the heat. Stay cool.
Love the drawings, your girls are quite talented.
It was Mum's anniversary on the weekend, and I can't tell you how many times the alphabet was started and how many times I thought of you. I thank your mum and you so much, for who you are.
Till next time, girlfriend.

HI Gail

I just came here to say thank you for all your support and I find that your Mum passed earlier this month. I am so sorry, sweetheart. It is a really hard thing to cope with. My mum died in 2000 after a 4 month battle with cancer, pneumonia, brain hemoraging (not the right spelling, I know) and blood clots. Anyhow, know that we are all here for you when you need us. We love you.

Oh, dear friend Gail--I was so delighted to get your note; what a cheery way to begin my day, and you know the coffee pot (or wine bottle) is ready for you anytime. Now I see by your page that your beloved mother has been taken from you, and I'm so very sorry to hear such sad news and that somehow I missed your posting. You were such a tremendous support and comfort to me when my mother went home to God, and I'll never forget your kindness and how a message from you made the grieving easier to bear. Mollie's photo is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady and I know too well how you are missing her every day, thinking fondly of happy times and wishing for just one more day, one more hour with her. I am sending you my warmest, firmest hug and want you to know that I am here, ready if you want to share a story, a memory, whether laughter- or tear-filled. Thank you for sharing a little of your mother through "Danny Boy"; Mollie had to have been a special lady to raise such a loving, compassionate daughter. Dear Gail, I will offer prayers today for you and your family, that you continue to get strength, joy and peace from one another, and that good friends rally around to support you as you journey forward. Please count me among those you can depend on--whatever you need, just ask. I find myself sobbing a little now, wishing I could be with you, but in spirit, I am.

Thank you for the thought. I get bored and then I write lots of e-mails to lots of people. I also do hidden object puzzles, but I'm sure my neighbors get tired of seeing me coming, even if I do bring the cake and cookies.

Gail, your last days with your mother are a precious treasure that you will always keep close to your heart. How beautiful that you could all share that time with her in peace and unity as a family. You gave her a most fitting memorial service; it comes as no surprise that the nurses would have thought she was a special lady and cared for her so warmly. Now with the fires surrounding you, another worry. I'll keep you in my prayers, dear Gail, and I know that during these times, you'll still find a smile or two when you think of Mollie and what she brought to your life.

Hi Gail, nothing major - I was just out for my morning run and had a nasty fall (at least I missed the bus I was avoiding!) I shouldn't be out of action for too long but it probably means I won't be doing the Canberra marathon in April (some would say that's a goog thing!)

Take care, Chris
