Hello Gail - thank you for dropping by on my birthday and for the birthday wishes. Also for the bottle of (virtual) sparkly. I had a few of them on the day but had my sister to drive me just in case.

Hi Gail,
Thanks for your condolences over the loss of Emma, our cat. She was a half-feral Maine-Coon pedigree who adopted us (my friends upstairs and I) about 17 years ago. She used to romp with the local squirrels and gave the local dogs a bad time. She was very pretty but as tough as old boots. She has been ill for a couple of years. She just couldn't take any more illness and in the end yesterday died quickly and painlessly of a sudden heart attack. I was weepy for a time (unusual for me) but it was not unexpected.

Thanks for your kind words about my cat Tuxedo. We are assessing his condition daily for quality of life, but he IS eating and drinking again. However, I do not like to see him in pain. It's a heartbreaking place to be. I vowed I'd never again have a cat put down, but I may have to change my feelings about that.

Thanks Gail for the kind birthday wishes, I tricked a lot of people by putting my date into the system late. I have had a lovely day with my daughter and grandson.

O.K. Gail - what does "moreish little suckers" mean (re: pistachios on yesterday' medium puzzle)? I am compiling a list of fascinating Aussie words for future reference - first was Ian's reference to a "chook raffle".

Hey girlie girl! Thanks for the link to the color - I think the idea of black woodwork is awesome...and the purple pillows on display on that internet page looked very cool.
Can hear Panda snoring under my bed right now...hehehe! It's raining outside, so she's hidding (or so she thinks!)

HI Gail, very sad news about your Mum, and Dad for that matter. I'm sure we are all a bit anxious that we will be the one left behind, especially if it is in old age. Sounds like he would really appreciate your support.
I would love to meet in Adelaide when ever you are here with time to spare. Just call me. Hope you still have my number.

We say "little suckers" too - a kind of affectionate adjective. Another one here, similar in meaning- or lack of - is "little puppy" - isn't language fun?! I think that's why I like the new Israli woman character in the t.v. program NCIS - she gentle mangles the language apparently just like I do in Italian, with word substitutions that are not the in-use idioms. I have gotten used to merry laughter when I speak in Italy!

Hi Gail! Thank you for the birthday cheer, I'm loving it! Had a nice restaurant dinner with Rob, and we'll go out with the family on Sunday. (two bites of the cherry there!)
I was so glad when the rain started falling - hope it means the end of your fire worries, for this year, anyway. Take care of yourself, you've had such a stressful time lately!

Hey Gail, guess what, Ebob's poem has been in a newspaper! Well, it's sort of a newspaper. They photocopy it for a town with a population of about 500.... But they call it the local paper.

Hi Gail,
Sadness for you as I saw the picture of your beautiful mum. Keep all the wonderful memories in mind to make you smile in your own sadness.

Thanks for the encouragement of our dancing. It wasn't a bad effort I don't think.

Take care
Gloria

Hello Gail ... I went to a concert on Saturday night--Scottish singer performing Irish music (!) and sure enough, his final song of the evening was "Danny Boy." I thought of you and said a quiet hello to your mother, knowing she was enjoying the music too. Have a wonderful day, whatever it brings you.

Gail, just in case you have retired for the day and won't read my reply on the jigsaw puzzles, let me thank you for telling me about my photos showing up there. I had no idea that the jigsaw site did anything other than use the current Sudoku puzzles. Just think of all the additional puzzles I can do now, thanks to you! Have a great day!

Dear Gail - I wasn't surprised at all to see a message from you. You have a good soul. I'm glad I put those photos up as it just adds a bit to my life story.
It wasn't till I came here to say thanks that I saw that you lost your Mum in January. I was so sorry to see that and feel bad that I haven't been paying as much attention as I should to the site lately. I'm sure she was as beautiful in her nature as she looks and she obviously passed this on to her daughter.

Hi Gail, and thanks for the 'welcome'! I had been doing the puzzles for a while and spying on the comments. I wanted to be able to say something about the wonderful pictures we have each day, so finally did something about it!
I look at most of the names and regular commenters on the pages, I like your avatar.. I haven't worked out how to make one yet, although I haven't spent a lot of time trying yet (bit of a computer-phobe!)
I just really enjoy puzzles, both sudoku and jigsaw, and I must say love the colours in the unsolved puzzle more than the finished product sometimes :) That't often what I comment on, although I appreciate the beautiful photography. Will have to try to get some photos up sometime.
As is usual for me, I have been talking way more than necessary... I will catch you on the pages, I'm sure. Thanks again.

Hi, Gail!
Thanks for the noice flowers for my mom! Funny, I was going to bring over a little bouquet for her room from my sis & me today, too!

Grunt has started his antibiotics, so hopefully that hacking cough will get better soon!

That is a beautiful photo of your Mom (and your Dad?) on your page.

Hello Dear Friend! - Thank you for thinking of me! My husband, Rick, and I left for Florida a week ago to visit friends and my parents. We have had a wonderful week. We have done a lot of laughing and my parents both seem to be doing very well. My mom has been ill for two years, but I see a great improvement!!! It is very encouraging! The weather has been just beautiful, also. It has been averaging between 70 and 85 (F) and we have been sleeping with the windows open at night! I just love it.

I hope this finds you and your family well. I miss being on the site every day. We should be home in a little over a week.

Hugs!

Dear Gail - Thank you for thinking of me. We will be leaving for home tomorrow. We have had such a nice time, but I am anxious to see my children. We both have sun tans! That is unusual for the first of April, so we will go home looking very healthy! My mom and dad both seem to be doing very well and that makes me feel very good. My mom is doing so much better! It will be hard to leave this warm weather, but it will be warming up soon in Michigan.

I hope this finds you doing well. I am looking forward to getting back into the "grove" of things and being here daily!

Hugs to you!
